I am wondering how to get pictures of my own on here. Do you have to use a digital camera, or can you use your webcam? My webcam is a Blue Thunder, but i can't find any software that says you can just take pictures, only video. Can anyone help me with this please?

Your webcam should have come with a cd that has software for taking still photos, video, and interfacing with other programs like NetMeeting and Yahoo Chat. Depending on the cam you have, it might be called VP Eye. You should be able to find the name of the software if you google the name and model of the cam, or look here: http://www.dism.com/products/digicam/digicam_index.htm

After finding the software and downloading any updates, you should be able to find instructions on taking still photos in the Help section or online.

When you've taken the photos, go to the AmPic feedback forum, start a thread, and upload the photos, or you can upload them to your profile, etc.

Well, you are going to have to get a picture of yourself somehow.

Web cam, digital camera, scan it in, find one on the Internet or something.

One you do this, look up in the top left hand corner of this page, Click on... user cp.

Than click on edit avatar.

When you get there you will see some thing like this.

Oh, yes. you do have 100 post right?

If you have a custom avatar and want to keep it as it is, leave the fields below as they are.
Use Custom Avatar
You may upload a new custom image using the controls below. Either enter the URL to the image you wish to use, or use the upload control to upload an image directly from your own computer.
Enter Avatar URL:

Upload an Avatar From Your Computer:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 150 by 150 pixels or 15.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

If your Webcam can display what it is seeing, you can record some video of yourself, then step through it until you find one you like.

Then display it at a nice resolution/size, then hit the Print Screen key, on Windows 95+ machines, this takes a screenshot of the current screen. It doesn't save it anywhere, so just open up paint, and paste into it. Then crop it.

After that you have a few choices.
1. If you have a Batchall converter, then save your current picture as a bitmap and use the converter to make it a gif or jpg
2. If you don't, download this gif animator. I can tell you have to configure it so that you have the smallest file and the easiest way to include transparency.

Configuring the Gif Animator
1. On the Options tab:
  • Thumbnails Reflect Image Position: checked.
  • Main Dialog Window Always on top: unchecked.
  • Import Color Palette: Optimal Palette (this means it only includes colors you use on the color table)
  • Import Dither Method: Error Diffusion
With those settings, you can easily make a small gif. Also, since it only uses the colors that you include when you paste in, it is VERY easy to match up your transparency stand in color (I prefer a color that is very different than any other color used).

Good luck,
-RL
