Can We Talk About Race?

They were on the charts at the same time. Roy Clarks was on both country and rock and roll. In my opinion it's a better song.

They were 4 years apart. They are like chalk and cheese. They are not the same lyrics, song or even feel to them. It'd like comparing slipknot to Ed sheeran..

With the understanding that I did not bring the Beatles v Roy Clark into this thread:

You cannot copyright a title. You and I could write a song titled "Yesterday" right now, and as long as the music and lyrics are different than the others, we are within our legal rights.

For example, there are a bunch of songs titled "Hello" also a number of songs titled "Shout"

Roy Clarke vs. The Beatles? Different strokes for different folks.

I said in my opinion Roy Clark's song was a better song. I certainly can have a preference. I didn't say everyone need to agree with me, nor do I expect them too. It's just my opinion.

I was born in 1989 so my knowledge of when songs were released isn't as good as could be when the songs predate me by over 20 years. I don't know why I thought they were on the charts at the same time.

I do fully understand what you mean, and everyone has their own musical taste, all I am saying is that there is no link between these 2 songs other than the name. They are different genres, completely different songs. Someone could enjoy both of them as they are not alike in the slightest. I do not believe there is any controversy that one is linked to the other or has been plagiarised. I'm a Beatles fan myself, but that takes nothing away from Roy Clark

I have sent you a DM. I don't want to be clashing with you all the time, so if you would read it, i'd appreciate it :D

Ok, there is nothing disgusting in my message, a simple apology, but I respect your right to ignore me.

Sorry, I didn't see the DM up there. I'll go answer it. I have been in out of here today and missed many post I'm guessin.

Natural talent being the domain of one race is what I called bullshit; no one race has more natural talent, plus natural talent must be nurtured. Natural talent won't get you anywhere in a vacuum, minus nurturing it. There are lots of naturally talented athletes who failed in the professional ranks because they were lazy. They didn't practice hard, and they didn't practice long. There are naturally talented, mentally superior people who fail in professions for the same reason. Thinking is hard work, too. I never said, and didn't think I implied that there wasn't natural talent.
In this respect, you are wrong. Natural talent is not bullshit.

I run. I have a lot of experience running.

Some people are born with a superior potential to be great runners. They have superior natural aerobic capacity, superior endurance, superior running economy. They have bodies that are designed in a way to be superior runners -- thin frames, narrow hips, long skinny calves. Success at running is, to a great degree, a product of the genes you are born with rather than the hard work you put in. There is no question whatsoever that this is true. Anyone who spends a lot of time running and participating in races knows that this is true.

Some people are born with superior artistic talent -- the ability to look at something and reproduce it on a canvas. There is no question whatsoever that this is true.

Some people pick up the ability to learn musical instruments faster than others.

Some people are born more intelligent than others. They do math problems faster than others. Not because of hard work, or supportive parents. Because they're born that way.

Natural talent is a real thing. Whether or not mean differences in natural talent correlate with different racial groups is a different matter.

Is this what's called, 'Being late with your comebacks'.

Wasted reply, and not just for the age of the thread, but you're speaking to the person who knows everything about everything, just ask, he'll tell you.

You shouldn't have to defend anything you say to someone who will misconstrue and twist it anyway.

WOW I got the notification on this today! How is that possible?

An even better question is: how is the total lack of self-awareness in that post possible?

"You shouldn't have to defend anything you say to someone who will misconstrue and twist it anyway," SAYS FUCKING @lovecraft68 WHOSE ENTIRE SCHTICK IS EXACTLY THAT.

That is wild.

It was lying dormant since the 2021 inauguration, only surfacing after the latest Presidential election. Expect more; those who think they know more than anyone else are being released from the bonds of reality.

I think someone liked my comment, and I didn't realize it was like. I thought it was his response which was right below it.
