Casting/Reluctant Heroes

Thats what I assumed myself that there aren't any other superbeings.. kinda adds a flare of interest since then you've the norms who won't know what to think of the new ones if it got out about them nd they just don't deside to try and keep it quiet.

Ohhh! Me! Me!

Before:

Name: Claude DuFrange (Pronounced Day-Fronge)
Age: 32
Height: 5'4"
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Bio: Fat, short, and antisocial, this computer programmer made other hackers bow their heads in shame. A biting wit, he cut through his opposition, using the new age of computers to make himself a life padded by greatness, but he was to lazy to reach for his true potential.

After
Name: Plague
Height: 6'3"
Hair: Black, a few inches longer than shoulder length.
Eyes: Bloodshot against a pure black background
Bio: His hair moved through the air, seemingly less affected by gravity than himself. Thin and well built, Plague wears a blank look as he goes about his new life. Open to suggestion, he appears to be unable to think for himself, simply following messages. His skin is pale, with a sickly taint.
Powers: The Plague carries every disease known to man, and is able to give them off at will. Although able to inflict permanent damage, he prefers to bundle them in what he calls 'The Darktouch' which gives great pain to the vistim, causing bleeding, headaches, pains and cramps along the whole of the body which intensifies with prolonged exposure. Usually paralyzing, after five minutes it causes death, but until that point, were he to let go, there would be no lasting problems.

How's that?? ~Is just being annoying~

Grandmage - I'm laughing my ass off. There's nothing wrong with the character, but you'll see why it's so amusing when the thread progresses.

OOh goody, look at all, here comes the aussie :D

Normal: Bruce Sarden, australian, 23 years old. 6'1", lightly muscled build. Light tan. Boring office job, in a band on the side. A bit of a wild child, long brown hair, green eyes, singer and all-round daredevil, loves to do anything challenging and anything that brings a rush.

Grrr, I still can't think of a super. I guess I'll start in the main thread and come up with something before we get changed.

That's fine DarK Warrior - good to have you aboard. If you check the main thread you'll see NZ just had a bit of a problem... Shoulda made it one of the Ozzie volcanoes.

You don't need an avatar to join a thread LadyBlueMoon - infact you don't get thet until you hit 100 posts, so the more you post the quicker you get there... :)

I would love to join, but haven't posted enough yet to have an avatar :(

I have set as a goal to post ten a day... can you let me play after that, or even before? But the idea of the character I have is based in part on the AV I want to use....

:)

Oops... I guess I am a "virgin".... I quoted the wrong message! Anyway, I can't seem to get a lot of posts because the content on here is sooooo distracting

;)

If you want to show what your av is ahead of time, you could always attach it's address as an IMG tag - look near the top of the reply screen and you'll see an IMG button. Click on this and you can put in the address of your av. It will attach the piccie to the message.

Thank you for taking the time with this "newbie"!! Actually, the picture is on my computer. What size need it be to upload?

Ah, there I guess we hit a slight snag - at least unless someone knows a solution I don't, which is entirely possible. To use the IMG tag I mentioned before, it needs to be a pic from a website as it asks for the URL (now if you can store it on a website like geocities or whatever, you can prolly get around that) and to use it as an av, I believe it has to be very small - can't remember the size exactly, just remember lots of mine being rejected until I used a very small one. Also, of course, an av cannot be used till you have 100 posts. Oh, if you can get it loaded to a website and point the IMG tag at its URL then you can have a pic of ANY size.

You are indeed kind to be so patient with me! Is that how you and the others have images? They seem like they would be a little too large for the typical AV.

At this rate, I'll have my 100 posts in no time!!!!

The avs are the piccies on the left hand side of the screen (like my two native americans), anything within a post is attached with the IMG tag... oh, and if theres a link you have to click on in a post to see the pick, that's prolly been added with the HTTP:// tag up there next to the IMG. And er, you don't have to worry bout me being kind or otherwise, we all need to learn some time - others have explained things to me... ;)

Okay then... I'll work on getting my 100 posts and see what happens after that.

And no matter what you say, some people are not too patient with 'Newbies', so I appreciate yours...

Aye, well, sadly you are right there - but look at it this way, there's jerkoffs in every field. So, will you be joining us on this little superhero thread, even without having a piccie up for it?

Yes, I would like that. From what I understand, I need to create a character as well as a "superbeing" into which she will transform at some point in the story line?

Correct, and once you've posted here, just so's we all know WHO your char is and have a ready reference for him/her, head over to the story thread and jump right in. :)

Not sure what you mean by "a ready reference" but here goes:

Before:

Name: Erica Hill
Age: 42
Height: 5'4"

Short, spikey, dark red hair, average size body. Typical soccermom from the 'burbs. Manages an upscale salon, kids now gone, divorced.

After:

Name: Mirage
Appearance: Not too different than Erica, except when using her powers.

Powers: Shapeshifter, but limited to the human female form. Also able to take control of others' emotions, causing intense desire, anger, fear, shame.

How's that BF?

Sounds good to me... feel free to post on the main thread as the soccermom/saloon owner. Gonna make my next post in a while, just thought I'd give a few people a chance to introduce their characters to the setting. Oh and 'ready reference' just means an easy place to locate basic information (ie what you just listed)...

hey amigo, I'm considering joining in her myself if its not too late. I'll jot down some notes today while at work & let my mind work over a character if its ok

Alright, here I go.
No matter how many times I do it, I never really like my super hero characters - can never really think of any good powers (My opinion, anyway). Well, I'll try anyway.
(For the "before transformation" character, see the previous page on this thread)

After transformation

Name: Generally known just as "Weaver".
Appearance: Only difference to the original Bruce is that at times his form looks ethereal.
Powers: Bruce has the bizzare ability to actually "grab" and perform minor changes on reality. These changes affect the actual reality around an object, and so can be used on virtually anything non-living. Living subjects can be changed also, but takes a lot more concentration, as the reality around living beings is more complex.
The changes include things such as shape (i.e. could change a ball into a cube), size, density (Including air - useful for creating what he calls vacuums (though they aren't really), enabling an area of space in which movement is easier and faster, or for making air thicker and slowing, even halting small projectiles.), that sorta thing. As I said, minor changes, so nothing like simply creating or destroying objects.
General: After his transformation, Bruce enters a strange state - whether he is alive or dead, or somewhere in between, he does not know - but his form appears insubstantial at times, and his entire world is changed. Everything around him does not appear as others see things, for instead of simply seeing, say, a chair, he sees an intricate pattern similar to webs. It is these "webs" that he can "grab" and alter with his powers, hence his name, the Weaver.

So how's that? Well, it's a little better than what I normally do, I think...

Abs: You're welcome aboard, of course, buddy.

Warrior: Sounds good to me, actually I like this power. Heh, could make you a very valuable member of the squad.

Everyone: I reckon I have 1-3 days of stalling tactics/useful writing before we perform the transformation. I just ask that if you have not posted your char/joined in by now please do so today or tomorrow. Thanks.
