Loved Sixth sense and What lies beneath. I think the last good one I watched was "The woman in the yard." Terrible name, but I loved how it progressed.

Jacobs ladder is a bloody brilliant film. I might watch that tonight

I revisit it from time to time... just a well made film, and was my intro to Tim Robbins.

Whats a favourite or underrated horror of the past,

While I love the cheesy/campy stuff purely for nostalgia I am mostly a psychological horror/thriller fan. My personal favorite is Session 9. Definitely underrated. I am also a big Nightmare on Elm Street fan. My best friend and I used to have Nightmare on Elm Street marathons frequently back in the day.

What horror film stuck with you

Poltergeist. My aunt who used to babysit me when I was little told me that ghosts liked to come through the TV and steal little blonde girls (I looked ALOT like Carol Ann when I was little). It scarred me for life.

I hope I will find some good recommendations for new things to watch here. I've been disappointed by the genre lately.

Many "horror" movies are gore fests, which I am not a fan of.

I prefer psychological/cosmic/sci-fi horror, but anything that tries to tackle the ephemeral nature of perception and memory is infinity more terrifying to me than a bunch of blood and guts. It's why a movie like Jacob's Ladder left an impression, while the Saw movies were, for me, quickly forgotten.

I get what you are saying, and that is why for me slasher flicks fall down the list. But I think if you rewatch "Saw" the first one, that was more psychological than slasher or gore. After that they just went for the elaborate deaths, but I think the first one had some quality tension and mental torture.

I'm intrigued,, if slightly skeptical but still, fingers crossed

Session 9 is fantastic,, even if it does star the glasses man from CSI-miami

I found this synopsis to be better at summarizing while being vague than I am. Lol

Yeah That is WAY better than I was going to do,

It's got some genuinely creepy moments, especially with the tapes

My rankings are something like this. It's hard to say really as a lot depends on how good each individual movie is. I will say I am so sick of zombie movies and shows these days (except for Shaun of the Dead. Will always love that movie). So overdone.

Zombie stuff has been a bit played out, but Train to Busan is excellent and there is a new film by the same guy coming out later this year called The Colony and that looks excellent.

Yes I'm pretty sure Shaun will always be up there for me
