That's admirable. I envy those writers/storytellers who have a flair for concision.

I fear I could shave 60% off most of my stories without nicking the core. I have a bad habit of getting wrapped up in the minutiae of characters' interactions (not to be confused with the minutiae of the interactions of the characters' naughty bits, though I've definitely been guilty of waxing prolix in that arena, as well).

I am with Varian on this point lol.

~~ Min, that's only the 33 who HAVE submitted so far right? i certainly have one to give you yet. Im sure there are more.

Concision is not one of my strong points...I feel that story has it's own length and when it's done, it's done, and not a word sooner....

I do have a lot of bad habits that need correcting under a firm hand.

It's precisely what's under the firm hand that makes correcting you so enjoyable, dearest...

Mind you, the application of a firm belt has its merits, too.

Thirty-two submittals and counting, crimenalities!

Let's see 500 words X 32 = 16,000 words (assuming all submittals are all +/- 500). It isn't 'Gone With the Wind', but that's a lotta words.

And only 24 hours to guess. Teacher, I need more time.

Of course I will be using the WAG method to determine who wrote what, so it may not matter.

Congrats on having this contest, min.

Hats off to the pretty lady!

What's worse is that anyone who doesn't guess which one is mine gets a beating with licorice whips and tied up with my tongue....

:p Seriously, if you've read one of my pieces, you can pick them out of the crowd- I have some... really fucked up habits. Bottom line.

It's not as easy to guess as you think it is. There've been times in the past where I was dead certain I knew an author's work because I read everything they wrote and edited a lot of their stories and STILL I guessed wrong.

Indeed.

We definitely need more than 24 hours. No worries.

I'm trying to decide whether to split them into two groups. Any thoughts, guys?

Splitting them might be a good idea...down the middle in half, and give seperate time blocks for them, then anounce the answers at the end of it all.

The winner being the person who guessed the most correctly?

~~ im going to write mine in the waiting room at the dr's ;) (8:59 am it shall be with you ;))

 I've always heard that waxing the prolix hurts

It stings for a few seconds, but your prolix is baby smooth for weeks afterwards. Well worth it.
