Child of Eden

Tim

"Alright. I'll be right back. Don't move."

He got up, and quickly let the room. A few minutes later, he returned, holding the corners of his ripped jacket as many metallic objects banged together inside. He set it down where he had been sitting, and pulled out a spoon. He showed it to her, then dropped it on the floor.

"Now, I want you to pick it up. But don't just think about making it lift. Think about adding pressure under the spoon, and that pressure pushing it up. Just enough to make it lift off the ground a few inches. Then let it go."

He stepped back, sitting on the arm of the chair where his coat was, and waited.

Rock laid down in his old bed, which was made out of straw and smooth pebbles. It didn't bother him too much that his bed was made out of so, he was more worried about what was happening to himself.

"What is going on with me? I don't feel like my self... Do I? I don't remember what I was like in Edo, or Tokyo as they now call it. That was so many years ago!"

***Flash back***

"Rocoshin!"

Rock steped back a bit, his eyes locked on a angry teen "Y-Yes Zerro?"

"Why did you break my sword?"

"It was an accident..."

Zerro shook his head, sighing. He then knelt down in front of his little brother, "Rocoshin, I told you to ask me to train with my weapons when you wanted to. I would have not been angry about the broken weapon if you asked me"

"Gomen..."

"Come on runt, I'll show you how to mend things, if you keep this up, you'll have to learn!"

***

"Was that really me?"

Rock stared at the ceiling, lost in thought

Eden

Again I nodded my head and stared down at the silverware on the floor.
Easier said than done, I smirked silently. Thinking and doing without thinking was something I had yet to figure out. I eyed the spoon, imagining it lifting in the air.
Nothing.
I imagined it lifting as if in my hand and the spoon tittered a little on the floor but did not rise.
Sighing, I blew my bangs out of my face and eyed it with a little annoyance. The spoon began to move in slow circles but did not rise. I imagined air under lifting it and still, only a little clank from the spoon rattling on the floor.
"This is not working well.." I muttered, my hand fisting a little at my side, I glared at the spoon and ordered it, "Up god dammit!" The spoon jerked and stood on the handle.
Smiling, I felt a little happier it did something that time. It began to shake before it fell back to the floor.
"Oh fuck it!" I muttered as the spoon began to melt into the floorboards. lifting my hand up, ( something seen on a movie when I was little) I smirked and ripped it from the floor, panel and all and into the air.
"AH HA! There, I did it!" I smiled, eyeing the melted spoon and wood attached to it hovering in the air. Releasing it, I focused on something else and heard it hit the floor.
"Ok, so it didn't work right the first time..." I shrugged my shoulders and gave a sheepish grin.

Tim

Focusing his powers, he managed to get the floor back into place. He nodded, and turned to the jacket in the chair. He lifted another spoon out of it, and tossed it to the floor near the remains of the first.

"Neither did I. Went through twenty spoons, half a dozen forks, and a nuber of knives before I could even get it to stand up on the end. Now what you need to remember is that you have this power, and you need to command it. For it is through will that this works. Don't worry about the spoon. The spoon is only a visible marker. If you concentrate to much on the spoon, well,..."

He motioned towards the melted spoon. "Yo have to command the air under the spoon. You have to will the air to condense, push together, and lift. Now, this time, don't act like it's inanimate. Act like it's alive. Start out polite, ask it to do what you want. Then become increasingly more athoritative."

Eden

I chuckled, "I hope I don't ruin all the flatware in the house.. Lissa would not be happy with me.... You didn't learn how to toss axe's around did you?" I asked in a strangled voice. Laughing a little, I wasn't sure he caught on to the reasoning behind my question, but it did not matter. I was amused, it was good enough for me.. For now..
Looking back at the spoon, I tried to picture it as being alive and moving around with a mind of it's own.. since that didn't cause the spoon to move, I thought about the air and how I wanted it to blow.
And instantly a little breeze began to rustle the curtains in the parlor. Smiling, I again relaxed a little more and began to think of everything in the room dancing on air. The spoon easily began to lift..... as did the grandfather clock that was ticking..and then the letter opener began to lift from the desk......
Cocking a brow, everything settled back down to where they were.
"Ok, but I wanted just the spoon to move, right?" I hadn't noticed I began to sweat, my bangs were sticking to my forehead and my dress was becoming restrictive as well. Shifting on the seat, I could feel the material sticking to the backs of my thighs. Saying nothing, I wasn't going to ask a male why I was doing this. I figured it was from maturing..
Eyeing the spoon it again stood on end, but bent over in half. Sighing, I rolled my eyes as Tim again placed another on the floor.
This time it lifted and hovered about two feet from the floor. I did not smile this time, nor turn to look away from the spoon..
"Now if I am lifting something, and I get distracted... How will I control both the spoon and protect myself?"
To give an example of what I was saying, I turned my eyes to him, watching him and waiting to hear the clink from the spoon falling. Surprisingly the spoon did not fall to the floor. Peeking out the side of my eye I watched it hover and move towards Tim whom I was looking at.

Tim

"Good question. But that comes later. As you'll find out, just as you have to will things to happen, you also have to will them to stop. It's merely a matter of managing your wills. Anyway, that's good. But you look a little tired."

He frowned, and stood up. He picked up the jacket, and turned to the spoon. "Let go of the spoon, and we'll try one more exercise before you get something to eat and get some rest. Right now we're working on focus. And since you asked about distractions,..."

He waited until the spoon was back on the floor before dumping the remainder of the flatware he'd taken into a pile on top of the spoon. Forks, spoons, and knifes of every kind, and a few of the more elite flatwares he couldn't guess a use for, much less a name.

He grinned, and ducked behind the chair he'd had the jacket on. "Now lift just the spoon you were lifting before. Picture it in your mind, just that specific spoon."

Eden

Laughing at him hiding behind the couch, it took me a moment to focus on the pile in the middle of the floor.
"You scaredy cat!"

I thought and thought, he didn't say anything but focusing on that particular spoon. Ok..

Looking at the pile, I again pictured the spoon I had been floating around. Nothing.

Ok..

Pushing the others out of the way, I quickly made a hole in the center of the silverware all except the one spoon was pushed aside. Smiling the spoon lifted and came forward. Looking down at an old coffee mug on the table, I put it in there and had it stir around the cold contents.

"There was go." I turned and smiled at Tim. Granted I had cheated a little, but he didn't say i couldn't move it out of the way to get to that one spoon..

Tim

He peeked over the edge of the chair, and stood up, flexing his wings. He picked up the tattered remains of his jacket, and glanced at the silverware. They lifted from the floor, and lightly set themselves back down for him to take to the kitchen.

"Good job, now, a bit of homework, and I want you to think about this: How do you know that's the right spoon? Now get some sleep."

He turned, and wandered off towards the kitchen.

Eden

The right spoon? Laughing, I shook my head and rose from the couch.
"There are spare bedrooms on the second floor." I let him wander off and went to my own room. Tossing away the childish things into the closet, i climbed up on the bed and realized my feet would hang off if I slept there.
Sighing, I crawled back down and went to the Master's old bedroom. Laying down on the bed, I shut the door with my mind and barred it from anyone entering while I rested.
Glancing at the clock and noticing it was nearly four am, I went to sleep with relief this night was over.

Tim

It took a few minutes to clean off the silverware and put it away, thinking about what she'd said. It was a legitamate question, considering there'd been damn near twenty spoons in that pile.

If she could figure out how she knew which spoon was which, she'd be that much closer to controlling herself. But he could tell she wasn't curious enough. She saw the right spoon as the right spoon.

He got himself a snack, and sat down against the wall. Resting there, cradled between the floor and the wall, he ate. And as he ate, he wondered the same questions he always asked himself.

What was he? Where did he come from? Where there more of his kind? After he'd finished eating, he got up with a sigh. Questions without answers. He slowly moved to one of the guest room and went inside.

He locked the door, and laid down on the bed. he sheilded his mind and closed his eyes, drifting into the inviting darkness of sleep.

Rock sighed "That Tim guy... His energy didn't feel like an demon, maybe he was right when he said he wasn't a demon. I just hope he helps Eden like he said he would." Rock began to relax now, but he shot up "Oh no! I promissed Eden I would help train her! Shes going to kill me!" Rock was about to get up, but then relaxed again and sat down.

"Why do I care? Shes just an kid.... Besides, if she would want me to train her, she would just contact me mentaly."

Eden

I woke up faintly and cursed, "ROCK! dammit! I was sleeping!" Rolling over I sighed heavily and tried to fall back to sleep then his comment reached my mind.
"A kid? You're askin' for it buddy..... And where the hell are you?" I shifted on the bed and tried to pry my eyes open. He really did like to push buttons. Running off, ignoring me and now calling me a kid!? I should fry his ass is what I should do...
No, no that would not do at all..
"Didn't you want cured or something?" I whispered out loud and in my mind. I could hear his thoughts and wondered if I shut up long enough could I invade his dreams? As interesting as that sounded I wasn't up for it.
Rising from the bed I glanced at the clock, it was barely 6am. Hardly enough sleep for anyone, but thanks to Rock's muttering I was now fully awake. Perhaps some food and a shower would make me feel better while I waited for Rock to pull his head out of his ass and respond.. ok, So I was grumpy in the morning..
Sighing, I walked to the master bath and showered. First as hot as I could stand it and then turning it completely towards the cold setting, I took a nice cold wake up shower.

"Reading peoples minds with out their permission now Eden? For shame!" Rock said, rolling over on his bed, at the moment, he hated every bodie in world, even Eden, who for some odd reason, grew on him. "Buzz off! I don't give an rats ass about the curse. AND STAY OUT OF MY HEAD!!!" Rock yelled, his eyes falring with anger.

He put his head under the pillow, he didn't know why he was acting like he did when his village was demolished, but he was. And its was starting to scare him "Why would you even care?"

Eden

"...AND STAY OUT OF MY HEAD!" Jumping a little I glared at the wall.
"Fine, have it your way!" I cut him off instantly, my temper brewing rapidly in my head, I knew if I stayed focused on the rude little shit I would fry him to a crisp!

"Oh of all the nerve!" Fuming, I rolled over and tried to calm myself down. Sleep is what I needed and he can go to hell! See if I ever check up on him again! This is why people didn't care, I understood it a little better now.. People stopped caring about other's on this planet because they were tired of being hurt and used... Well he got his wish, now he was truly alone and would remain so in my book.

Rolling my back, I stared at the ceiling and tried to focus on Tim's question... How did I know it was the right spoon???

"Oh! Who gives a fuck!? It was a damned spoon and it worked!" I was angry and taking it out on anyone that could come near me.. I needed to go for a walk and calm myself considerably before being around another living soul.

It wasn't safe out there alone, but in my frame of mind anyone fucking with me would be dead in a blink, so it didn't matter...

Dressing in a pair of jeans from Lissa and pulling my hair back, I studied myself in the mirror for a moment. I could feel Tim's presence somewhere in the house but knew he had guarded himself well.. That's alright, I was going to go searching for Depp.

Fuck it and fuck this whole planet... Yeah, that sounded real nice.
I paused for a second and laughed, Hormones really fuck up a person!

Rock sighed "Maybe I should apologize... The fuck am I thinking?! I'm a Kitsune for fucking crying out loud! I was always shut off from the world because people think I'm a "Freak" ! Shit. Already pis off again, just because I was thinking about apologising to Eden! Fuck!"

Rock got up, he didn't even bother to make his bed, as he left the house, he cursed under his breath about going into the city, but he had to see hoe Jason was doing.

Tim

He turned, and his wings spread. He shifted again, and his eyes opened. He yawned. He blinked. He turned, looking for a clock, and finally found one. Ahh,...almost six. Time for breakfast, he decided, and then a short nap until lunch.

He climbed up, eyes heavy, and wandered out the door and down to the kitchen. Now,....where were the pans? Can't cook if you don't have pans.

Eden

The walk did little good for my peace of mind So I went into the kitchen and stared at the silverware in the tray, wondering Tim's question.
How did I know it was the right spoon? I laughed to myself, I didn't know really, for each were identical to the other but I just some how knew it was the one.
Unexplainable, and I gave up trying... So Instead I pulled out all of the cookware and began using my mind and building things, almost like large lego's but they didn't lock together as well...

In the background I was cooking.. The stove was not lit but the eggs were frying in the pan as well as the bacon. Grinning I was sure I was coming along some what better as I was forcing my mind to tight reins and using it but not out of control.

Rock sighed "They're not home? Thats odd..." He shoved his hands in his pockets, wondering where he should go now. "I could go to Eden's and apologise... No... Shes way too pissed off at me... And I can't go to the store since I'm flat broke! I guess I'll have to starve to death again..."

Rock sighed again as he walked down the stairs, and into the streets.

Tim, who, it seems, can't be seen.

Tim, who had been deep in thought wondering which part of the egg was bad for you this week didn't notice Eden right away. And she, it appeared, didn't notice him, either.

He must have forgotten to take down his sheilds and she was too preoccupied to notice. Well, that was fine with him. He pulled himself up and sat on the counter, watching her use her mind to try and cook breakfast.

That worked for him, let her cook and he'd eat. Of course, she was new. Using his power, he nudged at the edges of her own, but she was too busy doing whatever she was doing to notice as he kept her from dropping pans, and had her scrambling eggs for him. He licked his lips, trying hard to make sure she wouldn't notice how he was manipulating her.

Rock sighed as he sat on his bed, "I know I'm going to regret this... I hate apolgiseing!" Rock muttered as he got up. he knew Eden would be fuming when he would call her, but he was feeling bad enough snapping at her. "Here go's nothing... Eden? Eden can you hear me?"

Tim

He sat on the counter, carefully manipulating the poor girl's powers as he speared a bite of eggs and brought it to his mouth. Mmmm, delicious. He stopped, his ear twitching as he turned to look at Eden.

He took a peice of bacon and popped it in his mouth. After a few seconds of chewing, he took the plate and sat it on the counter next to him as he dropped his shields.

"Well, are you going to answer the boy or leave him yelling into the darkness. I'll never get back to sleep if he keeps up like that."

Eden

Turning around and glancing at Tim the pans fell onto the floor making a loud ruckuss in the process.
Flinching a little, I glared at him for doing that to me!
"Sneaking around is not nice Tim.... And No, I am not going to answer that over indulgent self absorbed Brat! he can yell all he wants, just block it out.. I have.."
Wasn't true and wasn't very nice, but he wasn't very nice either! Ok So I hadn't grown up too much mentally as I had physically.
"Rock, I don't want to hear it..." I invaded his thoughts long enough to tell him to stop and went back to cooking...
"HEY! You ate most of the eggs..." I put my hands on my hips and gave him a look over up and down. "Go get some more out of the fridge please." Turning back to the pan, I let the rest sit on the floor for now.

Understandible..." Rock said silently "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for what I said earlyer. I'll leave you along now" Rock said as he turned around, and headed back to bed.

"Got nothing else to do... Might as well just lay down, and just do nothing. He muttered to himself as he plopped down on his old, tattered bed.

Tim

He nodded, and popped the last bit of eggs in his mouth, and wandered to the fridge. He pulled it open, and pulled out a few eggs, with a few careful motions he began to juggle the fragile things, picking up and adding them as he went until he had eight of the aborted chickens moving through the air, he nudged the door closed with his shoe, and walked back over to her, paying careful attention to what he was doing.

"I didn't know how many you wanted. Is this good enough? And I wasn't sneaking around. I was here before you came down, for your information. I was simply keeping myself from sight." He spread his wings a little, adjusting them.

"Where you want these, anyway?"

Eden

I pointed to the pan on the stove and went back to attempting to make toast.
"Forgiven.. but next time you dont want someone in your head, dont open the channel by thinking of them and they WONT be in your mind!"
Having said that, I glanced up at Tim, "And stop reading my mind too!" I knew he was doing it, I could feel it.
"Now, still hungry? and I only need three thanks.." I smiled a little smirk and waited to see if he would take the bait of arguing with me. I was in a sassy mood, would be fun to sword play.. Or in this case, word play.. Something to pass the time! I was bored off of my ass!
