Not really fishy. Most of us like to check out new stories so as a result most of them have received a lot of views.

But who gave that story a five to begin with?? Its a prime example of my point about the uselessness of the ratings system. That story has a single thread that is basically an introduction and yet was top of the ratings?? Im sure it could lead to a very good story, but trhere is no way a one thread introduction should be highlighted as the most popular story around!!!!

The system should work whereby only stories with a certain number of votes are included.

And how on earth can a one thread story have recewived 472 views already? SOmething fishy there id suggest.

The whole rating system debate is a moot point as there is a lengthy thread elsewhere here where all this has already been discussed, basically, points system does not work, so ignore it. simple.

Regarding a one thread story having so many hits, anything on the front page of chyoo gets a ridiculous ratio of viewers compared to anything even on No#6 (one off being on the front page) I've had stories receive 250+ hits during its hour or two on the front page only to get 10-20 hits for the next few days till i update it again......

Incidently, the month i got number one story was when i created the story at the start of the month and added a new thread at least every second day, keeping it up on the front, not to say i dont think it rocks!

It's funny I checked my stories and for views I just fell in under 100 in the top stories. LOL. I also noticed that my story "A College Girl To Be..." only had 400 or so views... That doesn't seem right to me. Is that reset every month? or was it reset at some point in time? I thought I remember the story Population Crisis having 28, 000. views at one time.

Even from March of this year, the #1 pick this month got 32% more than March 2006. And #20 got 28% more. That's pretty good. Perhaps our putting announcements out on various venues is paying off.

In November I tried to keep my stories on the Chyoo front page every chance I got. I usually added a thread every day. For a while I had the top viewed story, but their are so many threads added daily that it was too hard to keep up with. After the mid month mark I slacked off, and my stories moved down the list. A College Girl to be... managed to get the 16th spot on the top 20, and I believe it has a lot to do with the title. The title is more appealing than my other titles. A Lost Identity (my other story) fell just story of the top 20. I added more threads to it, but it just didn't get the view my other story received.

So... in conclusion, congrats to everybody who made the top 20. It takes a very active writer to make it there.
