Clinton - Obama '08

And by the time election day gets here, many people won't care WHO wins as long as all the campaign crap stops! You won't be able to stand one more commercial, radio ad, etc. about the candidates by then.

And if Hillary locks up the nomination early, by that time, the voters will be sick of her...

I'm already on record with Bill Richardson. It's Demographics dummy!

I also want this on record (for quote material! :D ):

ISHMAEL YOU ARE WRONG! You couldn't be more wrong. You have to understand people and we're dealing with Josefine here, not Eva Peron. On a scale of one to powerlust hungry mad for power, she's Imelda Marcos with fewer shoes.

If she dips into the pool of governors, Richardson would be the logical choice. He would appeal to the fiscally conservative Democrats and many independents. But he's NOT buiding a very big war chest and he's not getting the national media attention (for now).

Mark Warner dropped out without a fight. Maybe he has gotten "the call." Hillary can offer Obama another carrot. Or hamhock, chicken, whatever those people eat.

And she has dirt on him and knows he takes orders...

Hey, Bill, take Bill and go get us some good Tex-Mex. No more Chinese, they're "our" Chinese again, can't be too obvious...

... and he tips Florida. Think of his current run as a job interview. I think Obama plans on being bigger than Hillary can ever achieve. Why tie yourself to an anchor and chain?

He did carry the Clintons water for them, that's undeniable.

Ishmael

;) ;)

If ANYONE was a setup and if ANYONE had the credentials to pop up out of the woodwork and start sniping at Obama along racial lines it would be...

All I know is that it is fun to watch both parties sucking up to Lieberman in the Senate. The guy made himself the most important man in America in only one month.

HRC will NOT get the nomination

You heard it here first

I have heard thru many, that the defections are starting hot and heavy

AND

The feeling of inevitablility is going, almost gone

Many who KNEW she would win, now question that and are looking elsewhere

Hey Ish

I wrote earlier that some "in the know" are turning against her

I have talked to some people today, they seem to believe that the tide is actually turning against her more and more. Some are actually speculating that when som straw polls will be taken and it will show her support declining, she will look for an excuse to withdraw. they further note, her press is turning negatove, not just con press, but most press

This is a good read

Did Obama rout Hillary in Selma?
I wasn’t there and I have only caught a few highlights on cable (no C-Span yet) but I lean toward giving Obama the TKO in his nearly head-to-head matchup against the Clintons in Selma, Ala., today.

I’ll let the NY Times set it up:

On the same street here today, barely three blocks apart, Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton paid homage to the civil rights movement that helped pave the way for their own quests for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The overflow crowds from the neighboring churches crept toward one another, with hundreds of people standing in the sunshine listening by loudspeaker. The senators were to be joined on the steps of the Brown Chapel by former President Bill Clinton, who flew to Selma to campaign with his wife and is be inducted into a National Voting Rights Hall of Fame.

OK, so how did it go? Let’s compare the quotes, courtesy of the Times and Nedra Pickler of AP:

Obama: “I’m here because somebody marched for our freedom. I’m here because you all sacrificed for me. I stand on the shoulders of giants.”

Hillary: “After all the hard work getting rid of literacy tests and poll taxes, we’ve got to stay awake because we’ve got a march to continue. How can we rest while poverty and inequality continue to rise?”

Obama: “How can it be that our voting rates dropped down to 30, 40, 50 percent when people shed their blood to allow us to vote?”

Hillary: “Today, it is giving Senator Obama the chance to run for president. And by its logic and spirit, it is giving the same chance to Gov. Bill Richardson to run as a Hispanic. And, yes, it is giving me that chance.”

Obama: “If it hasn’t been for Selma, I wouldn’t be here. This is the site of my conception. I am the fruits of your labor. I am the offspring of the movement. When people ask me if I’ve been to Selma before, I tell them I’m coming home.”

Hillary: “We’ve got to stay awake, we’ve got to stay awake because we have a march to finish, a march towards one America. Poverty and growing inequality matter. Health care matters! The people of the Gulf Coast matter! Our soldiers matter! Our future matters!”

Obama: “I know if cousin Pookie would vote, if brother Jethro would get off the couch and stop watching Sportscenter and go register some people and get them to the polls, we’d have a different kind of politics. Kick off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes!”

I’m sorry, but it really is no contest, based on those quotes. I’m sure Hillary was well received. But it was Obama’s day. They did not march from Selma to Montgomery for the rights of women to vote. Women had been voting in Alabama for 45 years by then.

And that story about Obama’s mama? It just boomeranged:

“It turns out that her great-great-great-great grandfather actually owned slaves,” Mr. Obama said. “As if that was a surprise. That’s no surprise. That’s part of our tortured, tangled history.”

Bam! End of that story. Whoever told Hillary to go to Selma today should be fired.

I hear in the background

that the Clits are really fighting to keep their supporters, in their camp

there are rumors of MAJOR defections in the offing and the Clits are doing whatever they can, including THREATS to keep them from going public

When one or two big names turn, ITS OVER

Spitzer Is Neutral Between Hillary and Obama?

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is "staying neutral" between Hillary and Obama?

And why does it not seem shocking that Team Hillary would "explode" over Spitzer's refusal to endorse his home state senator? Doesn't that seem in line with the over-the-top reaction to the Geffen episode?

Yesterday there was some discussion about the significance of Rep. Robert Wexler, a big Clinton defender during impeachment, jumping into the Obama camp. At what point does one of these lawmakers represent a canary in the coal mine?

I'm going on the record here. I think this is a done deal and all else is street theater and money grubbing. And I think the deal was cut long ago.

Ishmael
That will never happen, put me on the record. NO way is Hillary going to get this thing. No Way!

You aint gonna hang yourself, are ya? :D

I'm already hung, BB, so that would be redundant.

But you are correct.

I am predicting that Gore swoops in as her numbers fall and he and Obama share the ticket in '08 (with Obama as VP).

I'd love a Clinton/Obama ticket...but it's not going to happen in 'O8 and thus probably won't ever. It's too politically risky to try such a change in a country at war. The ticket would have no chance in hell...:)

I just dont see how Hillary is going to win over America, I think she will turn off a lot of people as we get closer to 08. Obama hasn't stepped up yet, I have no clue what he is about.
