Yup...I'm starting to thaw out from that long winter ;)

Yeah, the extreme heat after the extreme cold has been doing nasty stuff to the roads....but the track owners had plenty of time and money to get that track running right for this race

You guys don't know extreme cold!! ;)

But yes we deal with parts of the freeways "chunking" out here in WI, due to the temperature variations... -20F to 100F.

They are going to repave after this race....They damn well better - This race is in the "Chase to the Cahmpionship" ath the end of the season....and this kind of shit is unnacceptable

And what are the track owners going to do to compensate the drivers, the teams and the fans for this incredibly idiotic incompetence?

They should be billed by all of them, with the monies to accrue until the situation is resolved to the driver's satisfaction and all the funds paid out.

and by the way he WON last year not finished 3rd...And as much as I would want to be ravaged in your dungeon I would never in my life bet against Lil Dale at Talledega

TALLADEGA, Ala. - It's going to happen, Ricky Rudd said.
Some day, somehow, somebody is going to make the Dale Earnhardt Inc. dominance of Nextel Cup restrictor-plate racing a part of history instead of a current event.

"Somewhere along the line, whether it's this weekend or three years from now or five years from now, that dominance will stop," said Rudd, who'll start from the pole in Sunday's Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. "The day will come. I have no idea when it's going to be, but there will be a new leader in that group."

Rudd is undoubtedly right, of course. Nothing lasts forever, especially in the world of NASCAR racing. In this instance, though, it certainly seems that way.

"Everybody is saying this is the house that Earnhardt built," said Dale Earnhardt Jr., who'll start third Sunday, with DEI teammate Michael Waltrip second. "I'd like to keep it that way."

The numbers are staggering. Earnhardt Jr. and Waltrip have won 10 of the past 13 points races held at Daytona and Talladega, the two tracks where carburetor restrictor plates are used to keep today's cars from reaching speeds of well over 200 mph. Waltrip won the most recent race here in September to snap a streak of four straight Talladega wins for Earnhardt Jr.
