Coffee fetish.

I love coffee. It goes so well with my other bad habits.

Addiction is too strong a word, but it is definitely a physical habituation.

Many years ago I stayed a few days with friends who did not drink coffee. I had been on it for at least 10 years, and I'm sure this was the first time I'd gone without. On the second day I was lethargic, had a slight headache, just wasn't feeling myself. At some point I had the idea of going to the store to buy some coffee, and as soon as I did the notion became extremely desireable. I got back, womped up a 'field expedient' maker with a strainer and Mr. Coffee filter, and as soon as I had a few sips the cause of my malaise became apparent. I felt better right away.

Add to that all the other pleasant reasons stated here, and we loves our coffee. It's the first cup that does the real work - everything after that may be pleasant, but less so than the first, and essentially redundant.

Coffee?

I have a bit of blood in my Caffeine System.

On a normal basis We brew and drink three pots of coffee here. That's per day. I'll drink coffee then go to bed.

Then again I have been drinking coffee since I was short of ten years old.

That said, I bow down to your caffeinated poetry, neonurotic. Inspiring stuff for a fellow addict.

With a special beat down for the inventor of instant coffee.

So,are we all in agreement? Good. I'll start...

Hello, my name is jomar. I am caffeine addict.

If you want the absolute freshest roasted coffee, try roasting at home.

I use a popcorn popper I got a Target for about $20. The Ethiopian grocery stores down here carry unroasted beans for about $5 a pound.

Turned some beans into charcoal getting started, but got it figured out pretty quick.

Me too. I hate coffee, but cannot survive without it. Sleep apnea is a bitch! :(

Anyone have advice for a decent way to get real coffee at home? I like the flavored stuff at the store, but it never has the kick that Starbucks, Caribou, or even Dunkin Donuts has. I don't know if it's in the brewing or what, but I can drink a 20oz of what I make and then take a nap. Grrrrr

It's two pots a day and nothing less so I guess I'm among the trace amounts of blood in my caffeine system ones....
