Pending stories taking a long time to get published

It seems that getting stories published has become really slow. What's up with that? For example, in "Interracial", it used to take two days--now I've got a story at eight days and counting. Or is something messed up just for me? Thanks!
I also have five stories in "Fetish" pending for twelve days--that seems really slow, too.
I'm an established author, and I'm not breaking any rules. Nothing inappropriate in terms of content.

Sadly, no-one has any idea what's going on. There are still a hundred or whatever stories published every day, and presumably almost all of them went through the normal process, published a day or two after submission. I just had one approved only a few hours after submission (phew!). But there are also many complaints in these forums about Pending Purgatory, and various ways of trying to unblock the process, ask the administrators, and so on. No clear answers. Use the search box here to look for 'pending' and you'll find plenty of them.

April 9th for me and still waiting. I had to start sending readers copies of the pending chapter because they were asking for them. I know this is a free format, but when you’re doing a series, it really causes the storyline to lose momentum. I’ve sent Laurel messages to no avail.

So I guess we’ll just sit and wait like the rest of us .

This only bothered me with my first story. I was afraid maybe it sucked and they did not want it.

Yeah. I noticed a few posts. I thought a nice-enough one of my own might be additive. I have over 2,200 followers, which is pretty good. You would think the website would want to facilitate my content.

It's free. But we should also be facilitating advertising revenue for the site. If it needs to be paid, literotica could say so-- or they could ask for more volunteer help. I'd be glad to volunteer some time, personally.

You are not the only one. There are so many threads on here where many of us are stuck dealing with this and we get no answer. I have published more than 200 stories on here and never had a problem until this year. I've given up on my one that got stuck in pending. I did everything and to no avail. The most I got was the date changed last time I submitted, but then got stuck again. Been waiting since February 5th.

It seems to only happen on series chapters. I don't think it is random, cause I did have a date change on mine, and then it just sat there in pending hell. Every other story approves just fine.

Then again, would be nice to have an official confirmation from staff, so we wouldn't have to play these guessing games.

On 4/21 I had a story go through in the usual 24hrs but since then I had 3 stuck in pending. I pulled them out to maybe reduce the queue and now have only 1 pending but that also seems to be stuck. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Willing to help if the problem can be identified.

I have had one story pending since 4/13, one that had been pending since 4/15, that I pulled back, deleted, reuploaded on 4/23, and is still waiting, and one that has been waiting since 4/21. I sent a message to the site owner, but nothing has happened. I kept getting messages about getting new content so I started a substack. I want to stay here, but I'll be posting over there too now I guess. I hope this gets figured out. I love this site. I hate to leave it.

I resubmitted mine as a new story yesterday and this is the last time I will do it. Been waiting since February 5th. I did everything suggested here; from messaging the site owner, to submitting error reports and resubmitting 3 times now. At this point I am out of ideas and because there is no official statement from the owners, we are left guessing and trying to figure it out ourselves.

there is no official statement from the owners
Just this one.

But yeah, I think it counts as a non-statement because it only says what to do if it has been 72 hours, and what not to do if it has been less than 15 days. It doesn't say what to do after 15 days.

But that's why some of us use 15 days as the cut-off time before deleting and resubmitting in order to try to break out of the permanently-pending bug.

The statement doesn't tell us to do that, but it doesn't tell us not to, it just says don't do anything before 15 days except "check your own work."

I think it's rather telling: They definitely know about authors using this work-around, and if they didn't want us doing it, they would have said so.

Well, I have the opposite issue. I sent a new short story (6 pages) at around midnight, and it has already been rejected. I put in the notes at the bottom for them to read (that they apparently don't read), saying I used an editor and no AI was used to make this. They rejected it, then suggested I use an editor.
So I resummited it today, saying, "Please stop having your AI robot Overlords stop rejecting my story. I told them I even used Grammarly Pro several times on it, looking for different issues. It gave me 100%. I ran an AI checker, and it said no AI was detected.
Why do their 'improvements' consistently make this site worse? I had submitted an edited story on my other account and gave up on it. Stuck in pending.
A computer programmer looked up the code here and said that Literotica didn't fill in some of the code. It wasn't just a plug-and-play thing. Al they had to do was add a number that wasn't zero. I wish they would message them directly and tell them the issue.

And I just got rejected again. Telling me I need an editor. I sent them a 'report a problem ' message. It says the chapters were out of order. But I have multiple chapters in each submission. They are in order. Guess I have to reedit the previous chapter so it says ch 3-7.

The (IMHO flawed) AI detection tool/script is automatic; so from what I've read in other posts, it gets triggered immediately (in hours), and pops out the canned rejection message. I don't believe a human reads the notes to reviewer either, YMMV. FWIW, the Gettysburg Address was determined to be 100% AI generated by an AI detection tool

Well, the problem I am still having is that it is stuck in pending. Not rejected by bots.

Hey Everyone,

I submitted an Edited Story on 3/8 it stayed in pending status until 4/25 when it disappeared and now today 5/1 the new version is published. FYI, I originally submitted it in February, it disappeared and no new version, so I had to resubmit it.

Not sure why things are going so slow or if this is normal since I am new to the site.

Good luck,
Kam

It use to only take a couple of days. But since they had an 'upgrade' a lot of things stopped working right. I had to make a second account just to publish stories again.

That's hilarious about the Gettysburg Address! Bwahaha!

I will preface this by saying I've had stories rejected for several reasons since the update, I've been accused of using AI, which is bs. The title is too long. I shorten the title resafe as a draft, then resubmit them and they languish. I have never used AI. My insider who is an acclaimed and published writer said, the update was commenced for silly reasons and now the whole thing has ground to a halt.

Been publishing a series for several years now and the next chapter has been pending since 4/9. Never had a story rejected. Obviously, needing to create a second account just to move the series forward would break continuity with the others published under our current username. I suppose we could always point new readers back to the old username to read previous chapter, but that's a half-assed workaround.

And yet, the site is free to pub on, so hard to complain, other than the content we provide free helps drive their revenue.
