Pending stories taking a long time to get published

I sent another bug report. Only after sending a bug report for my Nymph 2, The Scentic Route, did I actually get a reason for its rejection. Claiming the stories were out of order, even though they weren't. So I resubmitted the previous chapter, changing the title to indicate it contains chapters 4-7. Not just chapter 4. So I'll see if that works. I really don't want to start over on another site. Even with the many bugs on this one.
It's surprisingly easy to just "start over" on another site. Since you already have material ready to go, you can have a very aggressive and consistent posting schedule to get followers and then slow down to something sustainable. I did that at the start of coming here, but then life happened, and now this purgatory. I wish there were more sites that accepted non consensual stories. So difficult to find these days.

Maybe we should all have a mass exodus to a new site. The site's owners don't seem to respect us enough to hire a professional coder to fix all these issues. Or at least the submitting issue. I have 62 followers on my old account. Although IDK how many of them are still actively reading my stories. I was looking at free, popular, adult-only, non-specialised erotica sites and saw only a few. Lushstories, Novel Trove, and Sex Stories.

There's also Inkitt and Storiesonline, but that's about it. I have wanted to make my own website, but I can't figure out how to do so, even with the help of the AI. I'm practically Amish when it comes to technology so I gave up on that. But yeah, there are so few sites that are worth posting on. I know of some very small story posting sites but they have requested not to be widely known because they do allow taboo stories and want to stay under the radar. I can't post to Lush due to their restrictions and most of my stories are non-con. And you do NOT want to post anything on xnxx/sex stories. Fastest way to lose your own work. I've been off that site for over a decade. The Blue Hell. The owner of that site refuses to delete old posts or accounts, very unhelpful. I have been hoping he would pass and the site would just be shut down. As much as I dislike to see long standing taboo sites disappear, when they are run as poorly as that one and this one are, they rather deserve it.

I am stuck with two stories in pending including one of the site challenges. It used to be a day or so before it was published but I am stuck with no response.

Hello, on April 5th, after a 7-week wait and 2 follow-ups, chapter 00 of my series, "Brie's Awakening," was published. The following 14 chapters, 8 days later, were all rejected with the usual message about the use of AI, etc. So, for the first 5 chapters I resubmitted, I provided proof that no AI was used and explained that my French texts for my first series had gone through the same process. I then asked Laurel, via the form, to please accept these texts, written in the same style as the previous ones. Having received no response, I contacted Laurel three times and requested further publication! To this day, there's still no news, my texts are pending, and I receive messages asking when the next chapters will be published! So, I'm being patient, but I don't understand what's happening, and I've looked for French writers, but without success!

I don't know what to do anymore and I regret this lack of communication, even though I understand the team must be very busy.
Have a good day everyone, Loïc

Lush Stories takes even longer than Lit to approve stories; they're crazy strict about their content and grammar too. They literally read every story like editors. lol It's crazy. I have one story there, and it took more than a month to post. I gave up and pretty much just let things pend here on Lit and I post everything on Archive of Our Own, where you can post instantly, edit at any time, and have excellent tags and writer settings. The only downside is the audience is smaller, but if we redirect more fans there, then we win! lol

A03 is a popular site for a LOT of things.

So that others can track along, I am still in Pending with two stories. One was an edit that I submitted on 3/29/2026 (bad example with a long wait time, I know) but the more worrisome one was a piece for the On The Job challenge (tagged and noted properly as per the challenge) that I put in 4/17/2026. The On The Job list of stories seems much shorter than most of the previous challenge entries as well.

I have messaged Laurel (May 2) and put in a bug report (May 4) with no response to either. I understand they are busy but no action has been taken with the stories either.

With sixty seven works in, the moderated view time was typically one to two days with publication one to two days after that. I have reasonably good views and ratings. I don't say this to brag but rather to provide some context to my post here.

It appears something happened within a few days of April 17.

I will update if I get any response.

I resubmitted my story of 4/17/2026 as a new story today with a note about the issue in the notes section. I left the old one for site error checking.

I edited a space into the one from 3/29/2026 to make it a draft again and resubmitted it as well.

Hmm, this thread suddenly got moved to "Authors' Hangout" so does that mean problem is solved?

Mine are still pending so it's not fixed for me as of yet. Hope it does. The options for posting erotica seem rather sparse other than Literotica.

I've still got one in pending. I had been posting chapters at an acceptable clip until this recent one I'm trying to get out. Been pending since 4/28. I'm committed to finishing the story and getting it all up here since I have readers here on literotica, but man, I wish I had never started here.

What's interesting is one of the stories I reuploaded a few days ago now shows it was uploaded 12 hours ago when I certainly didn't load it. Something is afoot.

Well, I'm ready to leave. I sent a PM to Manu a while ago about my story stuck in pending. Reported as a bug weeks ago, before that. Left my e-mail. No response. Why stay on a site where nothing works, you get no response and no attempt to fix it?
Archive of Our Own does fanworks. But I don't write fanworks. I thought about doing some porn parodies, but I haven't actually written any yet.
Storiesonline has its own number of issues.
Inkitt wants you to sign contracts that include fine print stating that authors may sign away excessive rights.
I do write a lot of non-con stores, so LushStories wouldn't be a fit. Things like a woman tackling an unsuspecting guy onto a bed for sex. Or some other sexual advances.
Sex stories sound like a place where your stories are stolen.
I have an almost complete series. That is stuck on hold because of Lit. Does anyone have any other suggested sites?

AO3 allows original works as well. Though they focus on fandom to start, there are over 400k original stories there too. So far that's the best place I've found to post stories that include non-con. Since they allow you to tag it easily and make it easy for others to find or avoid if they choose.

Seems to me that the site needs a couple moderators, actually 4-5 IMHO. Then there are a number of folks here offering technical help (myself included) but no replies to messages or posts. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Three pending stories have been joined by one more for the Geek Pride challenge.

I am hopeful this is simply a bug in a new update seeing that the sign in process has changed. I have started the process to sign up with AO3 but they have quite a lag before you get an invite to sign up. That invite is supposed to come today for me so I might start dual posting.

I received my AO3 invite and set up an account. I may mirror what I have here on that site. I want to make sure I am posting correctly over there as it is much more indepth for tagging and documenting your work, it appears. Looks like a learning curve but it may be worth it. We shall see.

Current Pending Stories:

4/17/2026 - On the Job Challenge - non posted entry

5/12/2026 - Repost of On the Job Challenge entry

5/13/2026 - Edit request, April Fools challenge story, reedit to add space and resubmitted - original submission date 4/18/2026 (I think)

5/15/2026 - Geek Pride Challenge entry

So this Pending Purgatory thing...

I'm just getting back into writing after a very long absence and on a new profile. I submitted my story two days ago, understandably, I'm anxious and trying to be watched-pot-never-boils patient, but y'know.

So after reading SmilingLez's comment about Pending Purgatory, I clicked the story hyperlink (on Desktop). I get the full Edit screen, but at the bottom, right below the Save Draft and Preview&Publish buttons it says "Status: Scheduled."

Is that still an indication of Purgatory, or is my story on it's way?

You should be okay; check to see what date they've put on the pending page for your story, if doesn't post by that date, then you're lost in purgatory. lol

Okay, a bit of progress here.

My Geek Pride story is set to be published on May 25 (the date they all are to be published).

The rest are pending.
