The phone call was filled with devastation. There was nothing left for him except to hang up the phone. And with that final beep, that sound mostly ignored, his relationship had ended. The biggest party of the year and she had to dump him on that night. Rob wasn’t crushed. It was just another youthful romance filled with booze, wild nights and meaningless sex. That was gone. And so was his ‘in’ to the party.
Tossing the cell onto his bed he took to the stairs down toward the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water. As he took it down he stared at the burgeoning clouds in the sky. Draining the glass he set it in the sink as a light drizzle settled in. Not that the light rain was going to hamper the party. There’d still be people playing in the rain outside.
The feeling of wanting to go to the party grew within him the more he thought about it. Rob knew his sister would be able to get in which ultimately formed his decision to leave the kitchen and head toward her room. Three knocks on the door were delivered through his knuckle before he turned the handle, stepping inside.
“Sis? I have something I want to ask you.”
