Conservatives Moving Into Idaho From Blue State Hells

I said conservatives tend to enjoy the outdoors and rural living. Rural states and counties lean GOP. Urban states and counties lean Democrat. There are exceptions of course, but in general that’s the case.

I also said Trump is a golfer. If you took that to mean golfers lean GOP, that wasn’t my intent. I doubt there’s much correlation between golfing and political affiliation. Definitely not among modern presidents. I don’t recall Carter or Reagan being big golfers but HW Bush and Clinton enjoyed the sport. Bush Jr isn’t a big golfer but Obama is. Trump owns a fucking golf course so it’s safe to say he likes it.
 
Nothing wrong with being a golfer. Being a golf cheat is another thing.

You golfers out there: would you play with someone who cheats?

Well, there are two different kinds of conservatives here. This basic assessment is correct, but I think I should add a couple things.

Many "old fashioned" conservatives, i.e. those of the Reagan and Nixon era- the "Babyboomer" conservatives, if you will- love and appreciate nature, the outdoors, and rural living. They also believe in personal freedom and self-determination and abhor government infringing on their private and personal lives. While they bemoan the excesses of well-intentioned but flawed urban policies and "Political correctness" (now called "woke") gone awry, they also condemn bigotry and hate.

These "New" (Trump era- if you will) conservatives, have no love of nature or the outdoors whatsoever. They would move to Idaho just so they can pave it over, slash and burn all of the beautiful outdoor spaces, and sell off all the public lands to out of state (And outside the U.S.) foreign investors so they can gate them off to the public. And, combine that with hate-mongering and outspoken bigotry, and a distaste for personal freedom and a love for authoritarian government stomping on people's private and personal lives.

Since this is about Idaho, when I moved here, most Idahoans were of the first kind of conservative- I, myself, being one of those. There were only a few pockets of hateful extremism in Idaho, mostly in the north.

But these new-comers, most of them would be the second kind. This is the kind of conservative best typlified by Rightguide and whatever screen name the ChloeHarpy guy is using at any given moment. Most native Idahoans, or long-term residents therein, have no use for such people or such views. And in fact see them as an existential threat to their well-being, and the state they live in.
 
While they may be as economically conservative as their new neighbors is there any data whether the people leaving blue states are as socially conservative as the native born conservatives in those red states?

It's part of a broader trend across the USA, where we are consciously aligning with States that are closer to our political beliefs. Republicans are moving in Red States and Democrat to Blue across the board, meaning we are polarizing ever faster. That, and within some states we have moves to secede - eastern Oregon moving to join Idaho. Northern California wanting to break away into their own state of Jefferson. We are polarizing faster and faster.

I use myself as an example - I loved out of a blue state and deep blue city where I lived for 4 years (Minneapolis) and consciously moved to a Blue State where I'd be much more comfortable with the politics and culture and yes, the people that lived there. More and more people are doing the exact same thing.
