Exactly. If you aren't going to do anything with it, other than show your co-worker, just don't do it. Too much effort and that's good writing time wasted.

I've thought a few times letting a couple family members read a story or two of mine that don't make me look like a total pervert. But once they do, they can easily find the rest. All they have to do is a search for some of the text or the title if you leave that. Then they get your username and it is all open.

I heard how my sister 'writes'. She bragged about some anthology bullshit. I wanted her to see my body of work. I may still do it. Especially if she starts her bragging again.

LOL. I know how you feel. One of my sister-in=laws writes travel books - she has 3 published now and they're great - really entertaining and funny - she doesn't brag about them, but she does share a lot on social media and every now and then I am tempted, but then I think about them reading ALL my stories as well as my stuff on Amazon and I just shudder LOL.

I may have to write some non-erotica fiction under a completely different name just to satisfy my need to say "Oh, me too," at some point. LOL

For me, aside from my husband, who loves all my stories and got me to start writing on literotica in the 1st place. nobody I know in real life has any idea I write erotica at all and I keep it that way. In my writing classes, I was a wannabe sci-fi writer LOL.

Am I the only one who's told friends about this hobby? Off the top of my head, probably nine friends, and of course my wife. A few have read my stories, although I don't encourage them to. I feel awkward reading the sex scenes of people I consider my Lit friends, so I can only imagine how it would be for people who've known me for 20 or 30 years.

I don't have many friends, but yeah I've openly discussed everything I write with them, and my SO is my editor and beta reader so of course he knows what I write.

My children don't know. And my family only has a vague idea cause it'd be super weird to actually discuss this hobby with them.

I'm pretty open about it. My mother's even read one of them . Actually she helped me edit one once and her input was pretty invaluable, lol. That one's only got one fairly brief sex scene, for what that's worth.

Most people I know well know about it.

I have told several other people I am playing with writing romances and sci-fi, which is mostly true, but lying by omission.

Perhaps we should brainstorm some safe-for-work descriptions of our writing interests that are directly based on Literotica categories.

For example, say not "I write incest stories" but rather "I write domestic family dramas that deal with deep, unresolved tensions."

No "I write voyeuristic fantasies" but instead "I portray the inner turmoil of roughly sketched characters as they contemplate the primal aspects of the human condition."

"I write about swinging and orgies"? No, no, no. "I put my characters into complex entanglements that carry the themes of trust and passion."

What about "I'm writing a sci-fi novel with explicit sex scenes"?... Well, that one's easy, you can figure it out yourself

Don't tell her at all unless you are 100% positive she would be comfortable with what you are writing. Ditto with your co-worker.
