I so appreciate the offer, but I don't have the technology to do anything with it. I don't even have a sound card, so I can't even listen to it. very kind of you to think of me, tho.... can you PM me some sort of a link to where you found it? maybe I can get a friend of mine to look up some of this stuff and put it on a cd for me.

let it bleed by johnny winter(rolling stones)

needles and pins, by the ramones written by sonny bono.

you really got me, by van halen originally by the kinks.

and one bad one, korn did a cover of the wall, you do not cover pink floyd!

Me First

I haven't read this whole thread, so someone may have said it, but if your looking for covers, check out Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. They're a bunch of guys made up from different bands who only do covers, but they do them their own way. They have a few albums out which I think are all good, and although I haven't searched in a while last time I did, I found over 100 different songs they did. Most are on comp. albums.

gary moore - shapes of things (yardbirds)
gary moore - wishing well (free)
blackfoot - wishing well (free)
molly hatchet - dreams I'll never see (allman bros.)

cheers, E!!

I've found a few punk covers they've done, by accident, but i'll be sure to do a search specifially for their tracks soon.

thanks for the PM...i would've missed it otherwise!! thanks again, E :)

I was watching vh1 classic awhile ago and saw eric clapton do a pretty cool version of billy preston's will it go round in circles from some live dvd that he has out.

here's the catch... the guy singing it was billy preston, who was apparently playing keys for clapton on that tour. so, does it technically count as a cover, or not? judges?

another question for the judges....

the kinks do you really got me a lot more like van halen's version than their own original. so, are they just playing one of their hits, or are they covering van halen's cover of one of their songs?

I've not read the whole thread so forgive me if it has already been mentioned, but IMO the best cover version of all time, is Johnny Cash - Hurt ... cant describe how much i love that song!!

a few other fav's are

Ben Folds - Tiny Dancer (Elton John)
Tori Amos - Bad Company (Bad Company)
Live - Walk The Line (Johnny Cash) orignal is obviously much better though :)
Black Crowes - Hard To Handle (Otis Reading)
Pantera - Killers (Iron Maiden)
and dont hate me for this one but i like Limp Bizkit's cover of Sanitarium by Metallica!!

i will add more later, beause really, is there anything better than a cover version :D

lol thanx for the welcoming hun .. you're the 5th person to ask me that today, trouble is, the other 4 were being serious  x

If you like covers, and more precisely punk versions, check out "Me First And The Gimme Gimmes". They are members of actual successful punk bands that get together and do entire albums of covers.

I highly recommend their broadway/musicals album "Are A Drag" where they cover:

Science Fiction/Double Feature
Over The Rainbow
Tomorrow
My Favorite Things
Cabaret

Just to name a few.
