what credentials to you to write?
This question occured to me, because a certain person has been making a lot of noise about lack of credentials, thinking that it is perfectly valid to write with just a heart, saying nothing about poetry or the tools of poetry.

FOR if you read this thread or my threads...<my threads> each has different purpose ......and I thought this was an amature writing forum offered to the free will public, not just for scholastic disecting of literature.

exploit new poets? I feel you missed the mark here Tara... I cushion the blow of the new poets clashing with the so called intellects critics balancing the harsh comments /critic with encouragement and inspiration while they are torn apart by critics with a need to disect literature. As they are here and made the transition they find some one willing to teach them or work with them. (this is not my expertise) The many of thin skinned poets that run for the hills after coming to this forum and finding it not so favorable. I do a good deed Tara rather your smart enough to see it or not. <examples> Rf made it vs somemoron decided he would rather go back to school and take an english course than listen to ten people say ten different things about his poem...then they argue over who is right? <laughing>

He tells me when my poems are good and then places comments that "this poem is CRAP" <See above posts> I can't help but feeling you hopped in here without reading the whole thread as so many do. Pay attention boy, pay close attention. Unless you look at the construction the dynamics of things, you will never begin to understand. Tara I have an immense amount of respect for, Tara in so many words told me certain things I wrote where "crap"; she didn't quite use that word, functionally it was the same. I agreed with her half the time, disagreed strongly the other half. It is the "poem", not I, I am interested in improvement, not cheap ego gratification,
I am glad she weighed in for another reason, it is through reading and commenting on Tara's poetry, certain mysteries of poetry started becoming clear, she challenged me, I hope I have improved.
Now in your case, it has become you, not just the "poem". I didn't know YDD, did not have much interactions with her, but very quickly I saw she left the most insightful, honest comments here. I saw a great love for the art. I felt a love for her. A few times I PM'ed her and aplogised for the time she wasted on some of mine. That is the amount of respect I had for her. I just got a little tired of you running around squawking about how negative critics are. So what are we to do, leave this place to the "writers of the heart" that do not care to learn the "tools" NOTE ARTHUR, I said "tools" - not rules.

Now, one last thing, jackass, I belieive Tara did mention her credentials, so what kind of response do you show her? Typical - no apology. Your right, Art it has become you. YDD never told me her credentials, her comments did. As for me, I never mentioned credentials, except when I came into your thread and mocked you, why do you think I affected that good ole boy aksent. Don't get me wrong, I love to hear accents, prefer them to college diction. I never mentioned credentials, because I don't care, doesn't matter. What matters is a willingness to learn, to accept, to keep an open mind. Funny ain't it, you only seem to be concerned about an open mind when you think you can get away with accusing others of not having one.
Not going to work on me, nor is this compassion for new writers, I have gone out of my way, and you are no longer are a new writer, but instead, chose to become a tired old preachy thread hog.
Be a man, take the step, apologise to Tara, to start, get rid of that ego.
