Thanks everyone for your input so far. I am so musically challenged it is sad. My wife is the music person in the family. being the lead singer of a local band who plays everything from Carrie Underwood to Guns and Roses she knows her music. If it isn't playing on a Baby Einstein DVD as of late then I probably haven't heard it.

I believe I said your av looks like you could be hanging out and drinking ale with Aragorn and some hobbits. I don't think you're a hobbit. You're like, 3 feet too tall. Besides, we'd have to see your hairy feet before a true hobbit diagnosis could be made.

As far as the poll, it was a toss-up between Queen and The Rolling Stones for me. But I went with the Stones because no one had voted for them yet.

My favorite band is ACDC so that was my pick. My husbands all time fav. is Led Zeppelin.
I like all those bands, but not really big on Abba & I think The Beatles were the most overrated band in history & I can't stand them (shoot me now) . They could barely play their instruments & were the first boy band.

That's a tough decision! I like most of them but I am going with AC/DC if I had to pick.

Has to be Beatles for me. The buzz of them in my formative years, and still the clarity of their vocals is something I admire, though Leigh has a point about their instrumental 'skill'! Back then, with such a new kind of sound, it hardly mattered!

Of all of them on the list, Queen is probably my favourite but earlier stuff, although we have tickets to see ACDC in the summer because the monkey loves them...have to admit, they're far more musical than I'd imagined...

They produced so much groundbreaking music in such a short period of time and had a real impact popular culture doing it.
