Dark Isle

Deric stopped and then sniffed the air, trying to find where their prey had gone when he smelled something that was totally unnatural. He looked around and then it came to him stronger than before, they were coming closer and they were- vampires! He usually got along with the vampires around here as he didn't disturb them and they didn't disturb him but it seemed as though they were coming after him. Or was it the female werewolf that he was following. Were they after her for some reason; had she killed a vampire?

He stopped and looked in her direction just to see that she had disappeared and that the vampires were getting closer to where he was. He knew that he had to do something, and fast but as he looked around the clearing he wondered just what he was going to do.

Lucas attacks

Lucas didn't know if Deric realized the vampire horde hding in the trees above him, he had to react quickly. Lucas roared, challenging the vampire horde to come down from the tree and fight. At that moment, the neverending darkness of the night was impeded by 3 sets of beety, yellow eyes. The horde accepted the challenge and prepared to descend down to Lucas.
Before the horde hit the ground, Lucas lept into the air and sunk his teeth into the neck of a male vampire, ripping out his throat. The male vampire hit the ground, temporarily shocked as his bretheren advanced on Lucas. By the time Lucas hit the ground, he was able to change from a full panther form to a panther/man form.

Lucas placed a powerful blow into one of the vampire's sternum, causing the bone to go through the vampire's heart, killing it instantly. Lucas and the other vampire, a female, circled around each other, waiting for the other to slip up. The female vampire lept forward, trying to scratch at Lucas but instead was met by a hard kick to her face. The female fell backwards, giving Lucas time to rip a limb from a tree. The vampire managed to get up just as the branch was flying toward her, acting like a spear and impaling her. The first vampire was still withering in pain while Lucas reverted to his human form. Lucas reached into his coat and withdrew his family's most precious airloom, The Silver Stake of the Champion.

Lucas won the stake from the former vampire king of Africa, after slaying him inside his own castle. Legend has it the stake belonged to the Vampire Champion who forged it from the fires of hell. However, a vampire hunter managed to steal it from him and use the stake on it's master. The soul of the Vampire Champion is said to be imprisoned inside the stake.

Lucas drove the stake through the vampire, as the last of his foes was finally vanquished. Lucas withdrew the steak and raised his head to the trees as he said, "Vampire hordes always have a leader, they hunt in organized packs run like a monarchy. Come down you piece of filth, your reign ends now!"

Suddenly another pair of yellow eyes appeared in the trees but instead of heading for Lucas, the vampire flew towards Deric. Lucas yelled, "Wolf-brother vampire leader coming from behind!!"

Celeste

I was liking this new world he'd introduced me too, but I was hungry, and eager to begin learning all of the ways of the vampire...I was eager to hunt....

Javen (...and Celeste)

THe wood was dark now, almost pitch, but we could smell the various animals that waited around us.
"Why can't I hunt humans?"
I smiled. So eager to learn.
"In good time, Sweetheart, in good time. We must sharpen your reflexes first, teach you the value of the hunt before you start killing humans."
SHe was pouting, I could sense tht just from having been around her, but she would do things my way.
"Now, we'll start with something small...a rabbit or squirrel..."
I smelled it then, the scent of a werewolf, and very close by. But the smell was thicker, to thick to be just one.
"Javen..."
I stood, pushing Celeste to the ground.
"Who's there?" I asked, but I was certain already.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"I'm teaching her to hunt," I replied. "What's the meaning of this?"
"You'll see soon enough..."

Joe opened the door, letting her enter. It looked as if the wolves had found other, more interesting prey. That was lucky.
Turning on the lights, he made his way over to the sink, putting his elbow under the cold water. The blood ran off, taking what looked like dirt and grime with it.
He could tell she was close, "Just a superficial wound. I fell down. It wasn't from the were wolf. He never touched me."
Actually, he had, but not enough to do damage, and certainly not enough for them to be changed.
Well...
Unless of course you believe that you could change simply by killing one. He had killed more than just one though, and he was still human. So much for superstition.
"Listen, Dawn, you hungry? I am famished, and we need something before we leave again. Those things aren't following us anymore, but they have our scents, and if they decided to pick it up again...."
He let himself trail off.
He wrapped a semi-clean towel around the wound, grabbing a couple bottles of water and some pieces of fruit from the fridge.
"Here you are," he tossed her the water and an apple.
"So, what's a nice girl like you doing on a shitty island like this?"

Ooc: I thought Dark Isle was just a metaphor for the world being covered in the darkness, full of monsters, and isolated, like an island. I might have been wrong though.
Anyway, I think we're all on the island.

Javen

I noticed the voice as Rueben's voice without questin. NOt that I needed to, he was the only wolf of that clan who knew my name. They mostly kept to themselves, having only territory wars with other clans and sometimes my kind.
I noticed too, that others had surrounded us. I counted six altogether, but who knew how mny waited in the darkness further off.
Celeste showed no fear. They always felt invincible at that age, realizing what they can do that they couldn't but not realizing that there were many things they couldn't do. Werewolves were dangerous foes. I would have to watch her closely.
"Follow me," Rueben commanded. I motioned for Celeste to follow him and followed closely behind her. Not wanting her behind me for fear of her safety, I kept her where I could see her.
We paced throgh the woods slowly, stopping almost ten minutes later.
"Look," he pointed toward a grove of pines, the trees packed tightly together. I crept closer, peering underneath and seeing the body of a werewolf there. One of its arms had been torn off and it's throat torn into, blood dried on its fur in a manner that would only entail feeding from the jugular.
"SHit," I said, stepping back. My mind immediately went to the prince. He'd done this, but why?
"I came to you first," Rueben said, "Are your kind responsible?"
"I am not, and neither is Celeste," I replied, "But of my kind, I cannot answer."
He growled, anger building.
"I can say this, however," I turned to him, "If the man responsible for this is found, I will bring him to you."

OOC: The Island isn't a must, but the Vampire and Werewolves I'm currently writing about are there. I just used the Name of the Island to name the Thread. You can place your characters wherever you like. I just wanted to know who i could interact with, and who wasn't there to interact with...

Dawn frowned when she saw his wound. It may be superficial but it was still hurting him. "Listen, Dawn, you hungry? I am famished, and we need something before we leave again. Those things aren't following us anymore, but they have our scents, and if they decided to pick it up again...." He let himself trail off.
He wrapped a semi-clean towel around the wound, grabbing a couple bottles of water and some pieces of fruit from the fridge.
"Here you are," he tossed her the water and an apple.
"So, what's a nice girl like you doing on a shitty island like this?"
She smiled slightly "I live here believe it or not, I was visiting a friend when my car broke down and I was forced to walk. Here let me see your wound" he seemed to hesitate "Don't worry I don't bite" he held it out for her and she gently unwrapped it. It was red and looked painful. "Hold still" she was tired and weak but she still had a few healing spells she could do to help alleviate any pain. Murming the incantation under her breath she concentrated all her energy into a blue light letting it circle his arm and soothe his wound. When she was done she washed the cloth in water then wrapped the wound firmly. She then looked at him "Much better don't you think?"

Deric turned quickly at the shout from the were panther. That is one reason why I hate vampires..... they are too damn quiet The vampire jumped straight at him, his fangs bared but before he could do anything Deric jumped straight at the vampire and pulled him down with his weight. He jumped on top of the vampire and began to rip into his chest with his claws. The vampire began to scream out as Deric began to rip deep grooves into his chest.

Suddenly the vampire threw Deric off of his chest and got to his feet but before he could get away Deric grabbed his arm and threw the vampire into a tree. The vampire hit the tree with a crunch then began to get to his feet. He looked at Deric with a deadly look then began to run towards him. Before he could reach Deric however the panther jumped out and grabbed the vampire, throwing him to the ground.

He held the wound close to him, looking at her suspiciously.
"You know, someone else might have freaked out if you had done that. I doubt vampires or werewolves have any powers like that, but you'd certainly be called one or the other if somene actually saw you do that."
He motioned for her to sit, and he took a place right beside her.
"Tell me more about you? How did you get those powers, and where on the island do you live? I thought I knew most of the dwindling population of humans. You, I have never seen before."
He didn't even notice his hand was over hers, not until he gently pulled it away to get his water.
Cold bottled water. Nothing could beat it...

Lucas pinned the vampire to the ground and once again, drove the silver stake through the vampire's heart, vanquishing it. He folded up the stake and put it back in his coat. Lucas took a deep breath and turned to the wolf, "Wolf-brother, I am Lucas of the Were-Panthers from Africa. Are you alright?"

Deric looked at the werepanther and then at the silver stake that he still had in his hand. He knew that silver was poisonous to anyone who had there sort of power so he began asking himself why this panther had something like that in his hand. He walked forward, his eyes still on the silver stake and then said, "Okay.... I have to thank you for helping me back there. But I do have some questions to ask you- what are you doing here, why do you call me wolf-brother and why do you have a silver stake; the most deadly thing to our kind in your possession?"

OOC: I'm in human form

"In my homeland, we believe that all were-creatures came from one mother, therefore it is customary to refer to each other as brother or sister. As far as my weapon goes, this is a mystical weapon, it is the Silver Stake of the Vampire Champion. I retrived this from the Vampire King of Africa's chambers after defeating him and helping to liberate Africa of the vampires. When I brought the stake home, I realized it's immense power but I also recognzied the fact I couldn't touch it with my bare hands. So I had our top blacksmith cover the weapon with a thick layer of Nikel. Therefore, a were person can handle it without being hurt."

"I was sent here to help your king destroy the vampires here. Can you tell me where I can find him?"

Dawn looked at the ground her eyes cloudy. "I live on the edge of the island in a small cottage. It's a small neighborhood but it's nice and well protected. I suppose I've always had these powers. I inherited them from my mother and she inherited from her mother and so one. I've practiced my craft from all of my life" she looked at him "what about you? What are you doing out here all alone?"

When we returned to the palace, the Prince was waiting, his eyes showing that he was up to no good.
"Is there something I can help you with?" I asked. He looked to Celeste, who stood next to me, pouting. SHe'd been angry with me, had felt that I'd betrayed our kind by not attacking the creatures we'd encountered. How to tell her she's not as strong as she believes she is?
He shook his head, "no, not at all. Anything I can help YOU with?"
I watched him, his eyes surveying Celeste.
I looked to her. SHe looked shyly back at him, but kept her eyes lowered. I wondered if that was only for my benefit.
"Perhaps I'll speak with you later," the Prince mused, and walked away.
It was him, I thought. Not many of us could simply kill a werewolf, nonetheless drink of its blood, but he could, and that would make him stronger.

OOC: Whoops.... I didn't realize you were in human form Pm. I thought that you had to be in your character's panther form to kill the vampires. My mistake.

IC:
Deric slowly changed into his human form and looked at the new arrival. He then looked at the stake in his hand again then back at the man. He had no idea what to make of any of this because it sounded so strange. He knew that this person was just like him and had the same powers but he was after the king of the vampires on this island and if he killed him then that bastard of a prince would take over.

He walked forward and cleared his throat, "I know that you are here to kill the king of the vampires around here but there is two things that you should know before you do. The first thing is that if you kill him then there is a prince here that is far worse than him and the second thing is, if you kill him then there will be a war on this island and every werewolf here will be slaughtered. I personally do not want to see that happen."

OOC: No prob Angelus

IC: Lucas listended to Deric's argument, it made sense but Lucas was determined to meet with the king. "I know how it seems now but trust me, it can be done. In Africa the were-beasts consitsted of many feuding tribes that fought each other more than the tyrannical vampires that hunted us. Once we united the tribes as one, we were able to overcome our vampire opressors. This ment disposing of the entire royal family. From that point on we have used any remaining vampires as slaves. Once a couple of your tribal leaders heard this, they sent for me, they want to do the same thing here that we did in Africa. I'm just the first of many African-were-creatures that will come here to help you fight the vampires. Whether you help me or not I need to speak with the king, can you tell me where he is friend?"

"Surviving," he answered, as if from a far away place. It was a horrible thing to experience, on the verge of death nearly every night.
"And not doing a very good job at that, "he showed her the wound again, which felt incredible by the way. With any luck he might not even get a scar.
"I came here on vacation actually, last summer. A bunch of friends thought it would be a cool idea to go here, and enjoy fun in the sun.
"After about a week they all died, or turned into one of the monsters. I ran from place to place, finding help in a small town where people weren't attacked that badly. Just a passing group once a week or so.
"Then, I tried to suggest to the other humans that we should try to fight back, and as a species try and get rid of these monsters. They thought I was crazy, and made me leave. I was scared, since I thought for sure I was going to die... or worse become one of them. Then, I found this place, it's very nice. No one knows about it, and so far I haven't been found yet."
He smiled, throwing an apple core in the trash.
"Sappy story of the month, I know. I've begun to develop small little weapons and things to keep the monsters at bay. Yet, I'm only one person, and like I said before... the only thing I'm doing now is merely surviving."
Sighing, Joe got up. He looked out the window into the night, not trying to see anything, but just trying to focus on something else right now.

Casey lay in another fitful sleep. Even in her dream state she knew she should get up and close the window. Her body refused to allow her to awaken and she subconsciously pulled a blanket down onto her resting body from the back of the couch.

He appeared in the opened window, dark and powerful. She sat upright on the couch, starring at him with curiousity, not fear. Why should she be afraid, she had known him all her life. His image had filled her dreams since she was a child.
"Why are you here?" Her lips did not move. He had taught her early that she need not communicate with mrtal words to him.
"Cassandra, you know why I am here. It is time." His words filled her head like cold mist.
"...but I can't...I'm not ready...I won't." Her mind fought back against him.
"You have no choice, you made a promise. I will come for you tonight." As if the fog had a life of its own it folded it's white rolling arms around him and he was gone.

Casey sat straight up on the edge of the couch. The fog was drifting in from the water. Her apartment seemed colder than normal. With the blanket still wrapped about her body she moved to the open window and closed the shutters.

OOC: Firstly, I invented the two werewolves who were running. Secondly, My character has many weaknesses. So far, surprise has been his main strength. He needs to feed very, very often. He hates werewolves, because when he was but a wee imp, he was supplying some catapaults, and a werewolf party charged in, destroyed the catapaults, killed all the demons manning them, and practically killed him. Thirdly, he has been brought up all his life thinking that demons are supreme and all-powerful. This is not good, because he thinks that he alone could kill anyone and evryone.

IC: Pain hit him. "Hungry", he growled to himself. He spied a lone werewolf and stalked up quietly. Even as he jumped, he was totally silent. He landed on the beast's back and tore a leg clean off. He took it and smashed it through the thing's eye. He picked it out and began to beat the werewolf with it's own leg. "I hate you bastards! I hate you", he said over and over as he reduced it to a bloody pulp. He then grabbed it and sucked the life out. He picked up the body and dumped it in the nearest meadow. He then scampered back into the forest.

Deric stood there and listened to everything that the other were-creature had just told him and he knew that he was listening to a good idea. For one he hated the vampires as they were always after him because he was after the same prey as they. He walked forward and put his hand onto his fellow were-creature's shoulder and said, "Okay. I will help you. The king's castle is on the other side of the island on top of a large cliff. It is probably the most impossible thing to get to but if you are just going to talk to him then you would probably be able to get near the place."

Lucas thanked Deric and headed toward the wolf's castle, eager to start his quest.
