In the days before the gallows, criminals were hung from the top rung of a ladder and their spirits were believed to linger underneath. Common folklore has it to be bad luck to walk beneath an open ladder and pass through the triangle of evil ghosts and spirits.

I admit it...alright!!! Cut and paste!

I did remove the number one and the word Ladders though DB!

I think i have the correct answer to one but not sure...
... Because a ladder had rested against the crucifix when Jesus was crucified... it became a symbol of wickedness, betrayal and death. Walking under a ladder led to misfortune.... in England and France during the 1600s, criminals en route to the gallows were forced to walk underneath the ladder they would climb to meet their fate, while their executioner walked around it.Is this the answer you were looking for??? I hope so I need points...
