Dealing with the Neighbors...

So did you do the interview? I would like to read it. Just give me the name of the paper and I will find it and post a link.

I agree with SC, if we can't read about ourselves, the next best thing is reading about someone that we know.

I am torn..

Part of me is glad that Sheath isn't posting. I take this to mean things have calmed down which is good. But part of me is sad that Debbie the bitch next door hasn't shown her stupidity recently.

Holden

No, Debbie hasn't shown her ass lately. Which is a good thing.

The only interesting part of all this lately is that her children have suddenly taken to listening to rap music...LOUDLY...in a neighborhood of people who are quite involved with the country music industry. Other neighbors have noted that the speakers are pointed in my direction. That's all fine and dandy, but what Debbie doesn't realize, apparently, is that listening to rap music pisses half this neighborhood the fuck off. I just chuckle. ;)

I did a few interviews here, but all of them chose to focus on the book rather than the implications of the problem here. Only one will probably mention it, and the anticipated issue date of that one is the first week of September.

But you can read about me all over the web anyway. ;) *shameless plug for my work, lol*

S.

Those are the interviews that I, for one, would like to read. That and any published book reviews. So that way I get a better sense of the writer. So how about telling who you did the interviews with so I can find them?

Ask and you shall receive. ;)

Reviews were also completed by Alexander Renault for Mind Caviar ; Megan Murphy for the Erotic Readers and Writers Association ; and "Darklady" for inclusion on several sites. These are the most prominent among dozens. Those will be appearing within the next few weeks on their respective sites.

Print interviews have been done with the Village Voice (Dawn Tucker); Nashville Scene (Brent Lawlon); Joseph Beth Booksellers; Borders Book Review Magazine; and Quest Booksellers. There are many others, but those are representative of the last week.

You can find much more by doing a search on "Gwen Masters" on the web. I also have a fan club and newsletter. More information on those can be found by writing to masterserotica@yahoo.com and directing your email to "Joey Reed".

Thanks for asking, and happy reading. :)

Oh, good

I'm glad to hear things are calming down for you there instead of continuing to escalate. Is there some resolution in sight, or are your lawyers advising you to be content with this quasi-truce undercurrent of animosity thing?

The advice right now is just to lay low and see what happens. We have really taken everything to a standstill at this point. The attorney sent those letters, he pursued it to just short of actually filing anything legal...we did file complaints with supervisors over the HOA. We have exhausted every avenue EXCEPT court. And at this point, my attorney feels we have everyone backed down. If they lash out again, or get out of line with HOA guidelines (in the case of the director), then we file suit.

At this point, the community is moving on as usual, the neighbors are being quite friendly to me, and Debbie is more and more pissed...and more and more scarce. I'm hoping she gets the message and moves out. (Let's hope! :D )

It was more of an interview than a review, or at least that's what I'm hoping it will turn out to be. I'm unsure of the press release date for that one.

Wow, what a turn around, too bad they dont have rap with a country twist! lol

I guess she doesn't realize that in the music world you find good things in most music. (I said Most! lol)

Now that she is pissing off the other neighbours you can have a rest and get on with your life, let them take her on for a while and spend their time and energy on getting her to move out. Now that they realize who the nasty one really is!

Keep on singing girlfriend!

I wish to preface this post by stating that per the rules of this forum moderator the e-mail I have copied and posted herein has been modified to remove names and web addresses. If anyone wishes to receive the e-mail in its entirety please feel free to PM me and I will send it to you.
As I have been unable to find a copy of Better Judgement, Confessions of a Mistress at any book store here and as such I have been unable to find much information in the way of reviews to determine if the book would be worth ordering. My inability to locate anything of a “professional” nature on its author prompted me to seek out reliable reviews. I followed the information provided in this thread to read reviews of the book. The links provided led me to a handful of reviews by those who had purchased the book and by the distributor that I duly note were all favorable. In search of a meatier, more in-depth review by a professional reviewer I searched both the Village Voice website and the Nashville Scene website for the reviews by Brent Lawlon and Dawn Tucker. I was unable to locate them. Thinking that perhaps I was using wrong search techniques I sent an e-mail to the editor of the Nashville Scene asking him for information on the publication dates of the review his magazine was due to publish. What follows is a response I received:

Here’s what I can tell you: I’ve never heard of Brent Lawlon; he’s never written for the Scene before, and our book editor has certainly never made mention of him. Maybe someone here has been in contact with this writer about this story, but I don’t know anything about it, and that leads me to be suspicious of the whole thing, though I can’t discount it until I talk to my fellow editors, one of whom is out of town until next week.

I can also tell you that there is nothing on the Web to be found regarding a Village Voice writer named Dawn Tucker, and a search of the Voice’s Web site reveals no reviews of this book (as far as I was able to tell).

Hope this is helpful.

Interesting to see you finally pop back up, Mskey. I am quoting your post, completely unedited, so you cannot go back and change it. I was given a 'heads-up' concerning your actions, and those of a few others who have a beef to pick with me.

First, let me make it clear that "Better Judgment" is definitely available...more than one person from this site has purchased their copies, and had them personally autographed by me. If you can't find it, you aren't looking hard enough.

By the way, for all of you who purchased the book...Thanks. :D

Since I will not put email addresses on this board, anyone with questions about the interviews can feel free to email me, and then can proceed to email those people directly. Everyone here knows how to contact me, either via PM or email. I will respond promptly.

Good try, Mskey. :) I'm surprised by the fact that you would attempt to smear my name when the proof is right there...in the hands of many, many Literotica readers. I guess I should be more surprised that you didn't bother to hide behind your husband this time...Beloved, that's his screen name, right? ;)

Take care, Kiddo. :)

I am not going to do this by pm, and I have no bones to pick with you. But I am going to ask that if this is what an editor from a place that you posted said to someone, why would he lie about something like that?

Also if someone gave you a head's up, why are they not posting about this as well? I mean, it is one thing to put things into a pm or say that you will tell all in a pm and/or a email. I would like for it all to be out in the open on the boards so that nothing gets turned around on anyone.

I know that I also searched for the reviews and I can't find any of them either.

Missingmeds...it's good to see you swooping in to defend your friend Mskey. :) (Yes, hersixstring saved those IM conversations...so, I know all about your involvements, even if you try to deny it again.) So far as the person who gave me the heads-up, he asked me to keep it in confidence...so I am. If he wants to step forward, that is his choice to make, not mine.

I'm sorry you couldn't find the reviews, but if you click on the links, there they are. It isn't that hard. ;)

As I said before, I will not give out email addresses on the board, so...everyone knows how to get in touch with me, with the exception of those I have on ignore, which includes those such as mskey and missingmeds.

Mskey's problems with me began with this particular episode on this particular thread: The original beef

I am certainly used to attacks by now, and I find this weak attempt laughable at best, pathetic at worst. Guess 'bad neighbors' aren't just confined to my street...they are on Lit as well. :(

I think the situation is made pretty clear, and for those who have questions, like I said...you are more than welcome to contact me.

S.

You can ignore me all you want, but all I did was ask a valid question. I did click on the links, and all I found was the reviews that were written by readers on amazon.

I couldn't find anything on Nashville Scene and Village Voice either one.

As a matter a fact, the only thing that I have found when I did searches on Gwen Masters at all are either other porn story sites or the stuff on the site that your editor started.

I am only asking questions that I am sure have crossed other people's mind by now.

First, let me note that I have missingmeds and mskey, among a few others, on ignore. So I have no idea what the above post said, nor do I wish to know. I probably shouldn't have clicked on it in the first place, but I was so surprised to see Mskey come out of hiding...*shrugs*

Second, I want to apologize to everyone who has followed this thread...to everyone who has enjoyed the banter and laughter that ensued. I hate to see it deteriorate under the weight of agendas.

Third, I will not post to this thread again. I won't be adding fuel to the misplaced fire. I will say again, for the third time...those who have any questions can feel free to PM or email me. If you cannot find my email address through Lit, you can contact me through the email addresses on my sig lines.

Fourth, a final update: The situation with Debbie has seemed to come to a stalemate. No new news to report, thank God. Now that the school year has started, the problems have cut down quite a bit, understandably.

Thanks for the advice. And thanks to everyone who played on this thread! It's been enjoyable.

Cheers, all. :D

Jesus H. Christ...I go take a dump and the next thing I know everyone is pissing over themselves...

Here is what I can tell the naysayers....

I have seen the book with my own eyes...ON a bookstore shelf in a LARGE MAINSTREAM STORE...(not one of those backalley places with the quarter machines)....

I know that I have looked at the reviews on Amazon, and have seen a couple others as well...One from a paper in NYC if I remember. Specific links I can not, nor will not give, cause I have better things to do with my time, but I know they are out there.

As anyone in the newspaper business will also tell you...the online versions of the papers are vastly different than the printed version. Publishers aren't stupid enough to put all thier content on thier websites...who would actually buy a paper then??

I also know one newspaper pubilsher/owner who if asked about any of his employees denies any knowledge of them. You never know what kind of sick wierd fucks are out running around these days.

Just my .02 cents...I return you to your regularly schedualed pissing match...

Oh..PS....I like my nieghbors, but if I had been sheath I would have put a bullet in the neighbors head a lonng time ago.. or at least a big flaming bag of dogshit on her doorstep.

FF

I really regret that you feel that way sheath. I ask perfectly legitimate questions and you feel need to put me on ignore and then to not answer them.

This has nothing to do with what happened between you, Mskey, and spedjeep, but has to do with me trying to find what you put out there as a real fact. I don't find what you said I should and I asked about it.

You don't want to answer for some reason and the only one that I can think of is that the interviews were never done. Which makes me wonder how much of this is really true of all the things that you have posted here and elsewhere.

What is your motivation to put me on ignore when all I did was to ask you the same questions that I have asked others when I couldn't find information that they said that I should.

Well, here we go.

I normally just lurk, but having been through this kind of situation before and being a friend of sheath's, I have to put in my two cents as well.

When someone reaches a certain level of fame, it seems anyone holding a grudge comes out of the woodwork for their share of the limelight. Sheath has reached a rather intense level of recognition as of late.

Thus, this thread is proving to be just that kind of problem.

Sheath, you deserve every last bit of fame and fortune coming your way. Your work is superb. Better Judgment is a very worthy novel by a very worthy author.

It heartened me tonight to see you laugh over the situation. That's the spirit, girl! Enjoy the success and ignore the rest. All of us, even those naysayers, know you have earned it. :rose:

Well then please enlighten us as to which store that was please, because when we went to both Barnes & Noble AND Borders, they looked at us stupidly and said they had no clue what we were talking about, that they had never heard of it and couldn't even order it becuase it wasn't in the system. And I leave the "backalley places with the quarter machines" for your literary selctions to you.

I don't hold a grudge, and again I repeat that I asked legitimate questions and because my post came under someone else's about the same thing, I was put on ignore.

This has nothing to do with fame, this is simply a case of a post that sheath made and when I tried to get to the information that she said was there, I didn't find it.

Her response was to not clarify the information that I asked about. Instead she brings up something that has nothing to do with me, and then put me on ignore. She stated in her post that anyone with any questions should feel free to ask them. Simply because I chose to ask on the board where everyone could get the benefit of the answers to my questions, I am put on ignore...

I don't know about anyone else but this leads me to believe for some reason that she either doesn't want to me to read the interview and reviews that I asked about or that they simply don't exist.

Actually it was a Barnes & Nobles..right on one of the racks towards the front...

Sooooo...BLOW ME.....a kiss before you leave me.....

Perhaps it has something to do with region of the country...?? Just a thought...

Oh..and look up the fan club....believe me..there are people on there that spend huge amounts of time digging up reviews and such.....I'm sure they would be glad to share what they have found online and off.

:p

Actually, missingmeds, this is incorrect. You were put on sheath's ignore, as well as many others (including mine), after an IM conversation you had with hersixstring. This conversation revealed you were part of the problem between spedjeep/mskey/anyone else who had a problem with Sheath. This happened in mid-June, I believe.

Be careful of making assumptions. :)

Well this just sucks. First off, I have read the book. Have I seen it for sale in my area? No. Why? It hasn't been released here yet. Different release dates for different regions. Secondly, why should she have to prove anything to anyone? If you don't wanna believe her that is your choice. But your inability to find evidence of her claims doesn't prove a thing.
Thirdly, I know her much better than some of you may realise. We don't interact here much. But I promise you I have a great deal of contact with her and have for quite some time. In order for this to all be fantasy she would have to be a hell of a liar.
BTW she DOES have a fan club, I joined it today, and I have gotten regular publicity notices in my Email. weekly in fact.

It really irks me that you would run her out of this thread. Unfortunately I cannot express how i TRULY feel about the few of you that are the problem. Sheath is a class act. I however am not as well mannered as her and would love to tell you EXACTLY what I think of you. But out of respect fpr her I will leave it at this.
Suffice to say when a dear friend is called a liar and I KNOW FOR A FACT this isn't the case I am not gonna just sit and say nothing.
And if you have a beef with anything I said here, take it to PM's or the GB.
