Democratic Primary Fucktussle!

‘Do a better job’: Internet slams Democratic debate moderators for subpar performance

It is unclear who will walk away from the Democratic CBS debates in Charleston, South Carolina as the victor, but one clear loser from the debates is the moderating team. They sat by as the candidates shouted and talked over one another, and at times asked bizarre questions, like whether former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg would support a federal ban on trans fats (there already is a federal ban on trans fats).

As the debate dragged on, commenters on social media expressed their disgust with the moderators.

Next Week is "Super Tuesday" and the field will narrow after that!:D

And there's no particular reason to have the vapors people are having until after those results are in.

My conundrum is that I no longer can afford to vote for my first or second choice in my Super Tuesday primary. I'll have to vote for Biden.

Not true. See "polls also show Trump underwater in WI, PA and MI...and possibly Arizona and Florida".

Follow the money. Here are the latest betting odds. Trump 57.7%, Bernie 20.8%. Comrade Sanders is the Democrats best bet, and he’s not even a Democrat. Lol.

Stephen was all over Bernie tonight. He said he's worried because his Mayor Pete impersonation is just ... bad!

For the first time in three presidential campaigns spanning 40 years, The “political rival” that Trump was allegedly so terrified of might actually win a primary this weekend!

$1,750+ ticket prices for South Carolina debate spark outrage

Journalists and other observers pointed to local reporting from Feb. 6 on the Charleston County Democratic Party’s offer of a $1,750 to $3,200 sponsorship package that included tickets to the Charleston debate and other events.

“Most working people that I know don’t spend $1,700 to get a ticket to a debate.”
—Sen. Bernie Sanders

I trust the voters rather more than I trust the bookies. But thanks.

‘Fire Chris Matthews,’ women’s rights group says after MSNBC host grills Warren over discrimination claims against Bloomberg

Women’s advocacy group UltraViolet called on MSNBC to fire host Chris Matthews Wednesday after he cast doubt on accusations of harassment leveled at billionaire Michael Bloomberg following Tuesday evening’s Democratic debate.

“You believe he’s lying?” Matthews asked. “Why would he lie? Because just to protect himself? … I just want to make sure that you’re clear about this.”

“We have gone on and on and on where people say, ‘Oh, I can’t really believe the women.’ Really? Why not?” Warren said. “Why would she lie?”

That is not the only reason to fire Chris Mathews.:)

This is not a reason to fire Mathews (No, I'm not a Chris Mathews fan). Warren blew it on her charge and then defense of it. She flatly accused Bloomberg of telling a pregnant employee to kill the baby she was carrying. This would be blatant, actionable slander, legally, if he weren't a public figure. She has no direct, personal knowledge he actually said that--she has a woman saying he said that to her. Warren backed up both on stage and with Chris Mathews to say it the legal way--that a woman told her he said it to the woman. It's also OK for her to say she believes the woman. But for her to flatly accuse him herself of saying what she herself didn't hear and he hasn't acknowledged as saying is slander until/unless he admits he said it or is judged legally to have said it and has no part in political campaign rhetoric.

And this is the reason Chris Mathews pinned her down on the issue and made her repeat it. He was just being a good journalist when he did that. She wasn't being the good legal scholar she is to have said it the way she said it. Her performance was gasp worthy (which probably was what she was going for).

She could have gotten more mileage out of it by saying it the legally supportable way, ideally, "A woman who says you made her sign an NDA has told me under oath that when she became pregnant while employed by you, you directly told her 'Kill it,' and I believe her and I believe that you've made her sign an NDA to cover up what she said you told her--and that is just one example of why you aren't qualified to be president of the United States."

I know this doesn't suit the agenda of some women's rights groups, but they aren't being objective. They are engaging in gender prejudice.

When the MSNBC panel took this up later, they were stopped (probably by a producer) to backtrack and to keep legal and fair in coverage of this. They gave a clip of her charge on stage and were about to discuss it, when they were prompted that they had to run his response on stage as well, which they then did before discussing it. The discussion that followed also was introduced by the first commentator by saying she'd gone over the top with it and had hurt its impact. They didn't say it was because she was unnecessarily slanderous, but that's why they couched it that way.

Ahead of South Carolina primary, grassroots “I’m a Medicare for All Voter’ campaign faces down big-dollar industry ad blitz

“One of the things that we’ve found as we’ve gone around in South Carolina and elsewhere, talking to working people of all sorts, is that people do understand that nobody loves their insurance company.”

The Partnership for America’s Healthcare Future (PAHCF), an insurance and pharmaceutical industry front group formed in 2018 to combat Medicare for All, bought more than $200,000 in television ads that began airing during Tuesday’s Democratic presidential debate in South Carolina and will run in Charleston and Columbia through Saturday.

Adolph Reed Jr., professor emeritus of political science at the University of Pennsylvania and an organizer with the campaign, told Democracy Now! on Wednesday that more than 10,000 South Carolinians since December have signed pledges “indicating that they’ll vote only for candidates who support Medicare for All.”

:D

I have the same insurance package members of Congress get. What's not to love? :D

Joe Biden projected winner of South Carolina primary

Former Vice President Joe Biden is the projected winner of the South Carolina Democratic primary, according to multiple media reports.

The Associated Press, NBC News, ABC News and CNN called the race for the former vice president immediately upon the polls closing.

If official results match the projections, which were based on exit polls, it will mark Biden’s first state victory while running for president after failing to win during his 2008 and 1998 bids.

Saved by the Black folks, apparently.:)

Later results:

Candidate Deleg. Vote % Votes
Joe Biden 36 48% 255,662

Bernie Sanders 11 20% 105,070

Tom Steyer 0 11% 59,815

Pete Buttigieg 0 8% 43,484

Elizabeth Warren 0 7% 37,285

Boy o Boy there are a lot of black folks in SC!

Just--why?

I have a suspicion people falling in line with the ranting loon are succombing to authoritarianitis. Well, he yells and points his finger and is 100% absolute about EVERYTHING and seems to know EXACTLY who's to blame for EVERYTHING so wow, I guess I'll vote for him.

Look at his wife, a self-effacing, meek little presence. She looks downtrodden. No one can convince me he has any sort of personal relationship with her, just like Trump and Melania. He always talks like he's just spinning a tape he has playing in his head instead of talking to PEOPLE. He's a demagogue, an ideologue.

I just can't believe this crap. He makes my skin crawl.

Amy Klobuchar event canceled in Minnesota after protesters storm the stage chanting ‘Free Myon’ Burrell

Myon Burrell is serving a life sentence for the murder of 11-year-old Tyesha Edwards in 2002. He maintains he never committed it, however. Burrell was just a child and activists criticize Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) who was the county attorney at the time.

Burrell claims that Klobuchar “gave the police free rein and said, ‘Just bring me back a conviction,'” without actually looking on the evidence.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg suspends presidential race

Mr.Moderate drops out, leaving the centre to Biden and Klobuchar..

Mr. Moderate? Mayor Pete wants to abolish the electoral college, pack the Supreme Court, protect late term abortions, and establish a government run health insurance program. I suppose those are moderate positions in today’s Democrat Party. GTF outta here Obama, The Squad is calling shots now. Lol.

California voters still feeling the Bern

Bernie Sanders is heading into California’s primary on Tuesday as the clear favorite among Democrats, enjoying a massive lead over his competitors, notably among young voters and Latinos.

A win in the liberal stronghold that has 415 delegates — the largest number of any state — would give the 78-year-old Vermont senator a formidable advantage in the overall race for the Democratic nomination.

A recent poll by the Public Policy Institute of California showed that 32 percent of likely Democratic primary voters in the staunchly liberal state prefer Sanders.

Trailing well behind in second place is former vice president Joe Biden with 14 percent, Elizabeth Warren with 13 percent and Michael Bloomberg at 12 percent.

Amy Klobuchar to drop out of 2020 race and endorse Biden for president before Super Tuesday

According to a breaking report from the New York Times, Amy Klobuchar is dropping out of the 2020 Democratic presidential race and plans to endorse Joe Biden.

“Ms. Klobuchar will appear with Mr. Biden at his rally in Dallas Monday night. The decision comes one day after former Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., departed the race, and after weeks of Democratic Party hand-wringing about a crowded field of moderate candidates splitting a finite field of centrist votes, allowing Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont to march forward unopposed among progressives and amass delegates,” the Times reports. “Ms. Klobuchar, despite a strong third-place finish in New Hampshire, lagged her moderate rivals in every other state and was often seen as a candidate siphoning support.”

Ms Moderate bails too!
