I don't live in the US so I can't get Magic :( although it sounds absolutely fabulous.
So my question is this...I've only been able to find depilatory creams that say "not for use in the genital area"....is that more like a warning for idiots who wouldn't be careful or is it really not for use anywhere in that area? They also have "sensitive" creams but they say the same thing. I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me :D

the joys of the internet.....try seeing if you can purchase magic on the web......S/H overseas may be a little high but i dont see why not.....as far as i know magic is not any form of controlled substance so it wouldnt have many customs restrictions

I have relatively sensitive skin, and I've found that if a product says "not for use in the genital area", they pretty much mean it! I wouldn't take the chance. Sensitive creams might be more gentle, but still...surely there is something you can use for the genital area? I have found brands of 'Nair' that are meant for that. Granted, it is not as good as I would like, but it does work on the genital area.

In fact, I grew tired of trying different products and just went back to shaving. I took the cash I would have spent on the depilatory creams and used it to buy REALLY nice disposable razors and a really, really good shave cream. It works much better and really doesn't take much more time to just shave.

But hey, that's just me. It seems that many, many people on this board swear by Magic. :)

And here's an idea...if the shipping costs from a company are prohibitive to your budget, maybe there is an internet buddy who could buy it for you in the US and ship it? Often those shipping charges direct from companies are absolutely outrageous.

Ha... that's a good question. After all, Q-Tip packages say not to insert them into the ear canal and everyone I know does it anyway, with no adverse affect.

I hope you get some more answeres, but I'm with sheath, I wouldn't take a chance down there.

I swear by Gilette Mach 3 blades (for men).

Magic Shave is NOT marketed as a depilitory for the gential areas either -- it's got warnings against using it other than as directed as well.

However, Hair is Hair and depilitories will remove it wherever it grows. The warnings probably exist, because the product will irritate any "mucus membrane" or is of a type that also dissolves a layer or two of skin while removing the hair. The skin around the genital is a bit thinner than facial skin or the skin on your legs.

The warnings indicate that more than a normal amount of care and precaution are required, and the manufacturer won't be liable if you go against the warnings.

I'd be very cautious about ignoring those warnings, but wouldn't take them as absolute either. I'd do some very extensive patch testing to see if a particular product will work for you.

I have a friend that works for a firm that does cosmetic testing, etc. She told me once that if they say, "Do not...." they really mean it! If it says to rinse it out, rinse it out. If it says only use on _____, only use it there. You get the picture.
I'm sure there's some flex room for some things, but i wouldn't take a chance on something as precious as your genitals!
