Depression. It's a silent killer.

Hi All, I'm new to lit and still finding my way around, I was very pleased to find this thread, hope it's not too late to join.

I've suffered from chronic depression for decades, so can relate to much of what is being shared here. I'm not feeling too bad at the moment so am always happy to give a word of support if anyone needs it.
Welcome. There’s always room for one more.

About three hours ago, at the time I'm writing this, there was a tragic reminder of how difficult this time of the year can be.

I did not witness any of this myself, I merely heard it from someone who did. A man went into the bathroom at my workplace and slit both of his wrists. Though he was bleeding, he apparently did not cut them deeply enough to bleed out quickly, which is why he is still alive. He had staggered outside and collapsed before anyone realized what was going on, and told some coworkers what he had done, then passed out. My brave coworkers applied pressure to his wrists until the paramedics arrived and took him to the emergency room.

We may never know why he tried to do this, it may have nothing to do with the season for all we know, but the timing makes you wonder.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones this holiday season, that's all I can really say.

Thanks Bass.

Morning. Bass’s news hits hard. Check in on your people. We all have one or two we know could be struggling. Just a quick call or text May make it worth getting through another day.
Be safe out there.
Love you.
I couldn't have said it better. It can make more of a difference than you know.

I haven't heard anything else about that man, as I've been off since that day. I don't really expect to either, other than gossip that may or may not be true. He's constantly been on my mind since I heard about it, and I hope he is getting the help he needs.

Me too. I'm glad your coworkers acted quickly.

I hit the ground running this morning. I’m on my last day pet sitting. The snow has finally gotten here and all the “fun” that goes with it.
Have the best day you can.
Be safe out there.
Love you.

Hello. I’ve been busy with setting things up for my place. Filling propane and water tanks. Dealing with the basics of life really keeps you grounded in the now.

I hope you have the best evening you can.
Be safe out there.
Love you.

Nearly the solstice, the longest night of the year. Yule for those that celebrate it. It means the beginning of the return of the light.
Hang in there.
Be safe out there.
Love you.
I don’t celebrate it, but I felt my inner pagan come out a bit during the day.

Took a long walk in the woods. It’s amazing what being outside can do for me.

The days are gradually getting longer.

Tilt of The Earth

Everything leans - literally -
On the Twenty three and a half degree
Tilt of the earth
As we walk into the woods
Sunday, no hunting today
But I wear my orange hat anyway
Ya never know

The sun in our eyes
Barely scraping the horizon
Even tho it's only 3:30
Casting heavy dark shadows

Examining wind damage from Friday nite
One large dead ash down
Plotting out which trees to cut up next
For our firewood farm
Planning what’s next for our land in 2026

Looking south over the field
The crew-cutted corn
Stands blonde at first
Now orange with low sunlight

We walk the trails
I've painstakingly
Cut and hacked and slashed
But maintained

And on the way back
Along Coopalong Creek Tributary #4
We clear a jam from the culvert
And feel the warmth ceding

To the longest night of the year

44/52

I have submitted a holiday story that will be a gift to everyone on this thread, the gift of humor. I don't know if it will be published on the 25th or not; that is up to Literotica. But I'll share the link as soon as it is live!!
Looking forward to it. Thanks Bass.

Christmas Eve. Only one more day until the holidays are over.
It’s snowing here in my area of the PNW.
I don’t include new years in my holidays to avoid list. For me it’s a time of new beginnings.
I hope you have the best day you can.
Be safe out there.
Love you.
