Depression. It's a silent killer.

I couldn't have said it better. It can make more of a difference than you know.

I haven't heard anything else about that man, as I've been off since that day. I don't really expect to either, other than gossip that may or may not be true. He's constantly been on my mind since I heard about it, and I hope he is getting the help he needs.
Me too. I'm glad your coworkers acted quickly.

I hit the ground running this morning. I’m on my last day pet sitting. The snow has finally gotten here and all the “fun” that goes with it.
Have the best day you can.
Be safe out there.
Love you.

Hello. I’ve been busy with setting things up for my place. Filling propane and water tanks. Dealing with the basics of life really keeps you grounded in the now.

I hope you have the best evening you can.
Be safe out there.
Love you.

Nearly the solstice, the longest night of the year. Yule for those that celebrate it. It means the beginning of the return of the light.
Hang in there.
Be safe out there.
Love you.
I don’t celebrate it, but I felt my inner pagan come out a bit during the day.

Took a long walk in the woods. It’s amazing what being outside can do for me.

The days are gradually getting longer.

Tilt of The Earth

Everything leans - literally -
On the Twenty three and a half degree
Tilt of the earth
As we walk into the woods
Sunday, no hunting today
But I wear my orange hat anyway
Ya never know

The sun in our eyes
Barely scraping the horizon
Even tho it's only 3:30
Casting heavy dark shadows

Examining wind damage from Friday nite
One large dead ash down
Plotting out which trees to cut up next
For our firewood farm
Planning what’s next for our land in 2026

Looking south over the field
The crew-cutted corn
Stands blonde at first
Now orange with low sunlight

We walk the trails
I've painstakingly
Cut and hacked and slashed
But maintained

And on the way back
Along Coopalong Creek Tributary #4
We clear a jam from the culvert
And feel the warmth ceding

To the longest night of the year

44/52

I have submitted a holiday story that will be a gift to everyone on this thread, the gift of humor. I don't know if it will be published on the 25th or not; that is up to Literotica. But I'll share the link as soon as it is live!!
Looking forward to it. Thanks Bass.

Christmas Eve. Only one more day until the holidays are over.
It’s snowing here in my area of the PNW.
I don’t include new years in my holidays to avoid list. For me it’s a time of new beginnings.
I hope you have the best day you can.
Be safe out there.
Love you.

This has been a really rough holiday season for me this year. Worse than I can ever remember.

But I got a good laugh out of this… and I think you may too.

When I was little, my mother used to make Christmas cookies, my favorite being her pinwheel cookies which we always called swirls.

They are super hard to make, and my mileage varies year to year…

They are painstaking to make… they require a bakers hand. But I try every year to make them… they are refrigerator cookies, and so you have to make the dough, refrigerate them to make them harden up some, then roll them into thin sheets, let them harden again, then take the chocolate and the vanilla ones and roll them up into a roll. Then slice. Mine came in very dry this year.

Inspiration for Festivus poem of airing of grievances.

What they should look like…

How they turned out. 😂

Keep trying and thank you for the chuckle. Hugs.

I want to thank everybody for the emotional support over this past year! As others have stated, it has been a pretty rough year, for a number of different reasons, but every day we have with each other, whether it be in person or through the bulletin board, it's a gift. I wish you all the Merriest of Christmas's and a blessed new years!

Thank you for being here. Every bit is a help to someone and ourselves.

They tasted amazing, no doubt.
