Depression. It's a silent killer.

It's been a little while. Sorry for sporadic appearances, but I've been busy with life, work, writing, etc.

I'm doing well, though I had a scare a few weeks ago. I was called into the office at work. They have really been hammering down on our daily quotas, and I was one of the people not quite getting there. Thanks to having surgery to repair two hernias at the same time, my legs don't quite move the way they used to.

Anyway, I was given two weeks to "get my numbers up, or I was gone". At first, I was frightened at the thought of losing my job. After all, I did what I thought at the time was my best. The next day, however, that fear turned into anger; how DARE they question my work ethic!! So, though it greatly exhausted me every day, I pushed myself beyond my physical limit and shattered their demands! Now, not only do I meet their quota or at least come very close every day, I sometimes blaze beyond it and outperform many of my colleagues!!

To be honest, pushing myself that hard began to feel great after the first week. Getting my heart pumping, my legs moving, my arms flexing, all of it made me feel more alive than I have in years!
Hey bass. Good to hear from you.

Glad things are going well and that you were seeing the challenge in potentially bad news…

That’s the spirit.

Does anyone else find that the time of day impacts their mood? I feel very depressed every day after work and it tends to get progressively worse during during the evening, but in the morning I feel so much better. Just wondering if this might point to some physiological cause 🤔

When I was at the height (depth) of depression and anxiety, waking with that ache in my chest and gut started the day badly and it was downhill from there. Thank goodness those days are largely behind me, I hope you can float through it also.

Is there any particular reason or trigger that you start feeling this way after work?
Do you have a doctor/psychologist to talk to?

Everyone's case is different, I hope you feel better soon!

I got the go ahead from the cardiologist for the surgery on my back. I’m so relieved. It’s been a long year dealing with this pain. I have a new insight to those who have chronic untreatable pain and how debilitating it is. It becomes your focus so easily that life becomes nothing but pain.

Be easy on yourselves.
Love you.
That is a significant step forward, good news!

Perhaps the focus you have in the morning to get to work then on the work itself keeps your mind from going into to depression loop until you’re home and relaxing?
That is only a guess. I am in no way an expert. I know from my own experience that giving my brain something to focus on helps to keep the demons at bay.

Good morning ☕️ I think it's so strange how one question can change so much. I went to the Dr yesterday to have a few forms filled out for my physical therapy and my Dr asked a simple question, "how are you doing?" Holy cow, the tears just started rolling out! I started with how this ankle surgery has changed everything and about 20 minutes later, we both together figured out that it's not just the foot, it's everything. So I've got started on some meds and I know they don't work right away but I'll tell ya, getting that all out and asking for help made me feel so much better this morning. Oh and seeing the first hummingbird of the year this morning was quite exciting.

It may be. I work from home, so not really having to travel to work or back home at the end of the day. Just wondered if others experience something similar

Intersting. I myself am a morning person, I always feel best then.

As other have said, is there anything triggering you after work. Is the work you do keep you focused or busy?

That's great news! Has the date been confirmed?

My work is very varied and I juggle a couple of roles at the same time, plus I live in a challenging environment. So looking at things objectively I've probably just been doing too much for too long.

Hi, all! My day was alright except my pain and fatigue. I think I may have done too much of my SAD lamp therapy, because now it’s past 2am and I’m still not sleepy. I took my sleeping pill an hour and a half ago. Hopefully, I can sleep soon. Be well!

I’ve been doing yard work at a friends place for the last couple days. A little payback for putting up with me over the winter. It feels good to be working in the dirt again. It always makes me feel grounded. Literally. Lol.

Hope your Saturday goes smoothly.
Be easy on yourself.
Love you.
