Desert Rose's Oasis

Just got back from two days of walking the wind swept, wet and cold fields of the Battle of Jena and Aurstadt. Great trip, walking and talking battlefields or in German Shlaterfelds ( Slaughter fields).

I am a wee bit cold and a Hot buttered Rum Sounds good to push out teh cold and wet from these bones. Any other suggestions?

That's what I had a t lunch at the German Kantine. It was gute auch.

We had some Just freakin awesome chow this week at some in the middle of no where Gasthouses. And Jena is a College town, but I abstained from the bar hopping. But the east German lasses are very fine!!

I think I'll just hang out here in teh dry heat, find a rock and let the sun pound the heat into me, the wind blow the sweat off and the emptiness ease my soul.

And suck on a drink that has a fancy umbrella and watch the girls play nude volleyball, and chase Doh boi.

SMT, I hope ur feelin better. Try some locally brewed mulled cider, got a kick like a mule but cures sniffly lurgies.

Well, felt better yesterday, so ventured out and had waaay too much fun! Unfortunately, I played a wee bit too hard and now am a few steps back again. Sigh...I was a little too enthusiastic, I guess...

Well Thanks SMT, Now I got a sore throat, and a cough. I guess that's what ya get when yer swapping kisses and sharing riding crops. I'm going to go gargle with some salt water. Its crazy but from Friday til Sunday I have a series of "Higher echelon" Social engagements. Come to think of it I got an "Ice Breaker" with the USAREUR Commander on Tuesday too.

Rubbing elbows with the high and mighties, wondering what their wives look like under them dresses!! I am incorrigible, So I best mind my Ps and Qs.

It's 48f here atm. With wind chill 40. Considering that 2 days ago it was 99f, it's feels sooooooo cold. We'll be back around 99 Thurs/ Fri.

Haven't tried the different flavoured Baileys, yet. There was an orange one there when I got this one but I wasn't tempted. Never thought of adding it to Chai. Sounds good.

Now, Ox, just slip into the hot tub here, Cob, and we'll get you warmed up.....

Had a new light beer yesterday. Canadian 67. Not bad but it is pricey but the in-laws were paying. Having a shandy now. The weather is cloudy and cool. Don't mind no rain as long as it doesn't snow.

SMT: Congratulations on your divorce, I know how important it is to you. Now you have the freedom to live as you wish. I've missed you as well. I'm not active on FL any more, I don't have the time to keep up with it.

Triskele: Happy to hear about the rain! I hope the fires aren't threatening you and your loved ones. I worry about you. I could use some of your warmth though because I'm getting tired of feeling cold.

Great to see you back, Sweet Lady!

The rain, alas, was not enough. So the crews are still out at the biggie north of here. Only one fire was very close and it's out now. The others were not threatening our town. Some friends out of town were evacuated but their houses were saved. The highways out of here were cut off for a few days. That's unsettling. The smoke was stifling and bad for the asthma. Had to take the cherubs to their fathers when the highway west was cleared and the areas burned on the way were huge. Lots of pasture needed for the winter went up, too. Farming life can be hard, if it's not one thing it's another.

Don't worry for me, Hon. I do ok, y'know.

I had to google perogies The recipies seemed to be of a potato/cheese/&onion filling. Lil Smokies are sausages? Do you use them as filling?

They do sound good with bacon and onions.

I'm not a great beer drinker (unusual for a Qld girl). Did like Stienlager from NZ years ago. I wonder if they still make it?
