Disaster in the Making

Looks like Trump met his match in terms of histrionics.

After reading Trump's third grade letter, I now read Erdogan's promiss to "crush the skulls of PKK fighters."
:D

That video you linked in the other thread re. the Kurds et al was damn good.

Keep in mind these were all done prior to the Defense Secretary announcing these troops are heading into a more dangerous area in Iraq.

But while the measure has been unpopular among Republican lawmakers, rank-and-file members of the party may not be as opposed. There have only been four polls so far since Trump announced he would withdraw troops from Syria, and while all four showed that mainly Americans oppose the withdrawal, there was a stark partisan split — Republican voters aren’t broadly opposed to Trump’s decision.

First up, a YouGov/CBS News poll conducted Oct. 8-11 found that a plurality of Americans (41 percent) said they didn’t know enough about the situation to determine whether they supported removing troops from the region, while 24 percent approved of withdrawing troops and 34 percent disapproved of the move. But among Republicans, 41 percent approved of the decision to withdraw troops. (The majority of Democrats opposed it.) Not even a majority of Republicans

Mark Esperanto, Secretary of Defense, “The ceasefire is holding up very nicely. There are some minor skirmishes that have ended quickly. New areas being resettled with the Kurds.” USA soldiers are not in combat or ceasefire zones. We have secured the Oil. Bringing soldiers home!

It is about time.

Where did the Secdef say he was moving these troops "into a more dangerous area in Iraq?"
Defense Secretary Mark Esper said late Saturday that all of the nearly 1,000 U.S. troops pulling out of northern Syria will now head to western Iraq to continue the campaign against Islamic State militants.

do you even read bro 🤦

So Trump lied about bringing those troops home?

I'm shocked.

CHEETO'S LEMMINGS, THE OTHER DAY: "He's taking us out of an endless war and bringing them home! 'Bout time we had a president who had the balls to do what's right!"

CHEETO'S LEMMINGS, TOMORROW AFTER A LITTLE MESSAGE REVERSE-ENGINEERING: "He's taking us out of an endless war and putting us into another endless war but this endless war is an endless war that is actually against American enemies! 'Bout time we had a president who had the balls to take risks with our supreme armed forces in order to win!"

That is the perfect gif. Polls show that fatigue is finally setting in. I almost feel for the pups. Nah...

Funny they are both at a level 4 travel advisory and Syria’s sites it’s open border with Iraq as a major reason.

That is not the name of our Defense Secretary. 🙊

Where did the Secdef say he was moving these troops "into a more dangerous area in Iraq?"

Where did he say he was moving them into a more dangerous environment? It was a simple question.

So, where did he say he was moving them into a more dangerous area?

Vette's doing the ol' tripling-down on "where did he EXACTLY say XXXXX, show me where" technicality fail-deflection tactic.

Hey, maybe he's right this time. I guess western Iraq must be the resort area where all the keg partying Islamic State militants are squading up!

And there it is for those who persevered...good job Harpy.

The sad part is that no one fucking cares. After typing all of that (and it wasn't perfectly expressed anyway) not one single person here will actually DO anything to change their financial situation.

They'll either claim they don't need to because they're already well off and don't need to take financial advice from someone like me (which I wasn't giving in the first place) or they'll whine about how it's too hard because they're too poor and they don't have anything left over out of their paycheck because rich greedy old white men are stealing it from them.

Yet for those who actually get off their asses, things can change in huge ways.

For instance, I have a neighbor who got sued a few years ago and she came to ask me for advice about it. I looked the paperwork over, gave her some legal advice on how to try to handle it and made a suggestion.

Background: She works in a GAS STATION. She doesn't make a whole lot of money at that job and this is California - land of high rent and higher cost of living.

I told her that she should go 1 block down the street from her job and apply for a part-time position at the McDonald's. Yes, it's a 12 hour work day, but the extra income can help her solve her debt issues.

She did it. The Mickey D's job worked perfectly with her other job skills and the extra income totally fixed the legal problem she had in less than 4 months. After a year of moonlighting she was debt free.

It's been 5 or 6 years since then and she still works at the gas station. She also still has that part time job.

So your solution for all those millions of people is: take a second job and work 12 hours a day?

No.

My RESPONSE is that there are ways to change your lot in life. All you need to do is go find them instead of crying about how bad things are for you.

The ONE THING that is constant in all of what I learned over the past 60 years is that I'm the one who has to get off his butt and do something about it. Otherwise, nothing changes.

Go to school.
Take a second job.
Start your own business.
Day trade.
Ebay seller.

These are only a FEW THINGS that almost anyone can do to add extra income to their lives.

From there they can also:

Reduce their spending habits.
Eliminate debt.
Disengage from costly expenditures that give no return.
Save their asses off.
Read that book I mentioned and LEARN THE LESSONS IN IT.

Something to think about:

If some gal who works in a gas station can do it, WHY THE FUCK can't you?
