I do as well. That drives me up the wall...but having been guilty of this myself a time or two, I think a lot of it has to do with some wish fulfillment on the writers' part. Yes, it can kill a story, but it occasionally can be helpful in dealing with stress. Crappy reading of the harlequin romance variety, yes, but therapeutic writing regardless.

Although to be fair, the only times I've ever made a character cry is when they're bottoming in an intense bdsm session.

A bit more on my opinion, there is some goos straight porn out there. I prefer the slightly more natural stuff (amateur), which doesn't sound like the woman's Va-Jay-Jay is in complete pain or fake moans. Of course, what makes a good porno for any genre is if the two performers have a good sense of chemistry.
