Do people honestly believe that the US is "racially unfair"?

Chief Justice Roberts declared it over!

When I worked in the front of a Woolworth's in 1982-83, we "janitors" and "baggers" were under the dictate to "watch blacks and Latins" because they steal - which was a falsity, since everyone then under the age of 40 knew the vast majority of shoplifters were teenage white girls!

The only store I go into now where I'm not watched carefully, even though I am NOT that dark skinned, is Barnes and Noble. My son has accompanied me to Target and has seen security follow me.

So no, it's not any better than 50 years ago.

Roberts was referring to institutionalized racism or racism in voting. There are individuals who are racists, and probably always will be.

I don't believe you can mean things are no better than they were in 1966.

Those, too, still exist. He's not out in the real world.

Are they? Overt racism isn't as prevalent, but the subtle racism - in basic hiring, opportunities, and entertainment - is out there. Only a fool or an ostrich would believe it's gone.

When people get murdered for trying to register to vote or help others register, then you might be able to say things are as bad as they were in 1965 and 1966.

Voter ID laws were put in place, not because of voter fraud, but to limit access to polls by moniorities.

Again, SUBTLE!

Whatever you say about ID laws, they are nothing compared to the tactics used by Dems. in the Fifties and Sixties to disenfranchise minorities.

The ID laws apply to everybody, regardless of race, so how can you say they are discriminatory?

How? How EXACTLY does that limit a minorities ability to vote?

I've never had a problem as a minority getting an ID. Hell most if not all states even have a free bee for poor folks option if you just fill out the paperwork they GIVE you an ID.

Blacks suffer from what I call PITBULL BIAS. That is, they get anointed with the negative sentiments their racial associates create. They become stereotyped as dangerous threats. The other thing is, half of blacks get a government check in some form. They collect welfare, work for government, or are in prison. So theyre perceived as parasites. The black ecology traps blacks within negative discrimination....its the same notoriety Pit Bulls have.

BLACK ELECTED TO CITY COMMISSION IN 1964

I worked for Blackshear campaign then. It was kinda a step ahead of the civil rights laws that came in 1965. The local liberal papers always leave it outta black history month. Bill was the first black elected to any public office since the end of Reconstruction in Florida. 6 years later I became a proud racist after I wised up.

Do the slightest amount of basic research for a change.

I don't get the ID thing. Most places offer one or more forms of ID free. You need ID for nearly everything in life, so there's no reason for anyone over 10 not to have one.

All they do is show that you're at the assigned station for where you live.

Texas voter ID law requires a birth certificate in all cases. Birth certificates cost $25 each.

Concealed-carry permits are valid, student ID's are not. WTF.

Whatever the requirements or restrictions, they are the same for everybody, so how can anybody claim discrimination?

I'm not the one making a ridiculous claim.

If you can't tell me exactly how requiring ID's for everyone disproportionately discriminates against minorities then you're full of fucking shit.

Is it somehow harder for minorities to fill out some paperwork and stand in line for a couple hrs?? I don't seem to have any sort of special extra slow "fuck minorities" line when I go to the DMV.

This coming from a supporter of the Democrat Party that uses so called "Super Delegates" to make nomination choices for the disenfranchised they claim to protect. You and your ilk are the worst like of Liberal frauds.

Because a student ID does not prove that you are a resident of the state where you attend school dumbass. A concealed carry permit is vetted by the feds and insures you live where you say you do.

Easy fix, still not discrimination against minorities.

Concealed-carry permits are valid, student ID's are not. WTF

Concealed-Carry permits are hard as fuck to get by comparison. Student ID's are good for class registration and movie theater discounts, that's about it.

Like I've said all over the place: If the government wants you to have a voter ID, it should be free. Anything else is a POLL TAX!

With that said, offices that administer such IDs tend to close in counties and districts that are heavily minority, making it a chore to get them. To say the GOP had NO knowledge this would happen makes you either an ostrich or incredibly ignorant, and I do not believe you're either.

Why, all of the sudden, does the GOP mandate ID, when during the height of civil unrest, there was no need? Think on that.

They make it to every freebie office with their free bus passes. Two forms of photo ID are required almost everywhere anymore, so stop pissing on our legs.

I agree, which like I said is easily fixed.

Never seen a county that didn't have it's own courthouse/DPS/DMV.

I'd like to see some of these counties that are making it difficult for minorities specifically, to go stand in the same line like the near entirety of the rest of the fuckin' population.

As a minority who's lived literally all over the USA, blue and red states rural and urban and never once had a problem getting an ID, registering vehicles or registering to vote or any other state matters. KY, GA, NC, SC, TN, TX, AL....lived in all of them and never once experienced or saw what you're talking about.

Every single DMV/DPS/Courthouse/County Clerks office I've ever been in there were white/black/asian/latino's all standing in the same line doing the same shit. Always had an alphanumeric first come first serve system of some kind to service people in a fair fashion. Even in the most ultra racist spots of the dirty filthy south.

Why, all of the sudden, does the GOP mandate ID, when during the height of civil unrest, there was no need? Think on that.

Why all of a sudden, does the DNC, the people who LOVE to regulate the fucking SHIT out of everything with monstrous bureaucracies the point of dysfunctional collapse suddenly insist we not have regulations over making sure voters are who they say they are? These are the same scum bags who don't want you to even be able to choose what you eat or where it comes from but they want to prevent regulation on voting....Think on that.

There was a need.....as with any law there is one because the people of that state decided there was.

As long as they aren't charging for ID's, preventing minorities or making it unfairly difficult for them by making them jump through more hoops than white folks the concept that voter ID laws are racist is a steaming pile of hysterical liburhul derp.

The only groups of people that it unjustly effects are the crazy/paranoid folks who want to think they are hiding from the state by not getting an ID, and the deadbeats who just don't care to get in line.

Why do you believe we need IDs to vote?
Do you think there is wide spread voter fraud?

That's what I'm wondering. Why all of the sudden this is an issue?

I don't, the people of numerous states however do.

I think there is wide spread voter fraud but I think it comes from the top, not the bottom. Personally I think it's a waste of time fucking with the common man to resolve issues with our political process. We need campaign reform and a restructuring of pretty much our entire political process at large to better reflect the 21st century so the pol's can no longer play fuck fuck games with rules from an era when communication was not literally at the speed of light.

It's not an issue for me I live in California not Texas.

But it's an issue for Texans, and as long as they aren't discriminating against minorities or doing something all ready deemed unconstitutional like poll taxing in any way I don't see why they can't.

My beef with fellow lefties is when they try to finger this as racism....it's not god damn racism.... it's just (R) pissing in your cheerios where they can because they can. I'll give you the point that there might be some people who try to use these laws to that goal but they can't because it's against the law. As long as everyone has to go stand in the same line and fill out the same bullshit to get the same free state ID needed to vote? It's not racist....it's (R) giving you the finger as they run off into the dark after they TP'd DNC headquarters.

No state has free IDs, and in most those require voter IDs, student IDs aren't valid.
