Legacy only helps rich whites. That is why they are not harmed by affirmative action policies. Those policies make it difficult for white blue collar workers to rise on the basis of merit. Affirmative action is one of the reasons the white working class has become a Republican constituency.

If affirmative action policies came to an end many blacks would be fired from jobs they never should have gotten in the first place, and in which they never performed adequately. This would benefit whites, especially lower income whites.

I work for my cousin's technology service agency - we hire "computer consultants" and send them to companies. We've had several people bring suits to the company because we seem to hire a large amount of minorities - and Vets and Vet family members but that's always left out for some reason. Those non-minorities we don't hire are not qualified for the positions that need to be filled; Being able to "conquer" Fallout 4 in 5 hours doesn't make you a "Computer Data Analyst." (And yes, someone put that on their resume as "Special Skills.)

We've never lost any suit that has gone to court - 5 for 5! - and had the rest be thrown out before making it there.
