Do You READ Stories on The Story Side?

Stories, absolutely. Wrote a couple, try to help editing now and then. I find it harder to keep up with the BB than stories at times.

The stories brought me here. I read my favorites all the time.
Then I started reading the forums. Took me a long time to make a comment or post. Now that I think about it, I need to go back and find some of those favorite stories.

Came for the stories and still enjoy them from time to time. I have experienced a few mind blowing audio stories as well but it seems to take more time to find one that I connect with.

Curious as to how many here visit the story side and how often.

Cross posting since this board gets a different crowd.
I found Literotica as a result of the stories being here. I was away at work a couple nights a week, and I looked for erotic stories for obvious reasons. Turns out, I read a lot of really good stories. Not every one is a gem, but most are pretty good. They do set standards for what will be published. You can't just post a story. They have to approve it for writing quality, grammar, spelling, etc. They will kick it back for you to fix. They do offer access to editors who will help with repairs. I have a couple stories out here. Each took a few go-'rounds. Helped me as a writer.
Literotic Stories cover every conceivable sexual topic. It's well worth the time searching. While reading, you might get aroused, and want to report your experience on Forums, or talk about it, maybe relive it in Chat, or among the other possibilities here on Lit. Used in tandem, Literotica can be among the nice thing of life. Self-care is important.

When I got internet back in the day, one of the first things I did was look to see what there might be for erotic stories. For years I'd read the "letters" in Penthouse and tended toward the magazines that had a heavy lean toward stories (pictures too, duh).

The internet yielded a few sites for stories at the time. Lit was at the top of my list, and there was Eroticstories, Storiesonline and asstr. There were a few others, but they didn't have the volume of stories that those four did.

SOL and asstr were (and still are, I imagine) minefields where literally anything was possible. I won't get into some of the subjects these allowed. Let's just say: thank god for tags. I haven't been to either site for years.

A while back, eroticstories had an unusual change to their rules, which meant certain content and even certain words were suddenly not allowed. I haven't been there for a very long time, either.

When I originally found Lit, I read a LOT of stuff. While reading some stories, particularly in certain categories, I found myself thinking, "I can do this." Some others I thought, "I can do better than this." I've written stories off and on for years, so I set about proving both statements to myself and others.

As far as reading on the site, it's kind of a matter of time. Back when I originally found Lit, there weren't nearly so many distractions as exist these days. Do I still go back and read? Absolutely. Do I read on-site as much as I used to? Absolutely not. When I do get on the story side, I'm often in the archives, and then I'm mainly skimming.

Yeah, I consider the forums more of an appendage. Like, "the story side" is Literotica, but they also have forums.

Read for a good decade before joining the forum. Now I read if none of my cyber buddies are available to chat.

I started on this site by reading erotica way back about ten years ago. Then started lurking these boards about 7 years again and joined about 3 years ago.

“Cumming” full circle… been writing some stories and may submit some.

Started with the Stories, then added Forums and Chat....when I'm in the office, the Stories on my phone get me through many a dull meeting and get my thoughts turning to some of my co-workers, imagining what they're wearing under the professional skirts and blouses.

I have been fortunate enough to meet 2 authors whose works I read, while I was in the Chat rooms. This led to fantastically arousing PM sessions, and I can't wait for the right timing to allow our paths to cross again.

Sad to say being I'm an author here, but not much. For most material its simply time constraints. Work, family, running an E-bay store, my writing. Also when I'm writing its hard to read others work because it puts their voice and style in my head.

To be more specific to the forum this thread has been placed. I won't even look in the direction of the BDSM section here. Much of it is non con passed off as BDSM because they don't want the scrutiny NC gets in screening. Much of those can be seen as flat out rape.

When its not NC trash masquerading as BDSM, its endless "strong woman explores submissive side" "Woman gets put in her place by her dom, women is shared by her dom woman is...."

Femdom, thanks to lits growing number of incels is now crucified to the point people are afraid to write it because all they want to see is bitch gets hers....and sadly that's much of what the category is.

I ghost the BDSM forums and see the respect for the lifestyle and ways to practice it, and see the occasional trolls that come in, quickly get shot down as they should.

But the writing side is an outright disgrace. I'm not saying there aren't some good stories, but people tire of tip toeing through a minefield to find the rare gem.

Yeah, BDSM Cafe is one of my favourite places on the forum side (and BDSM Forum in general is pretty good) but it's been years since I browsed the BDSM story category. The misogyny and the misplaced NC stories are a big part of that. I'm fine with NC fantasy and it can make good fuel for a BDSM scene, I just don't like seeing rape described as "BDSM".

The other thing there—and this one is just personal taste, no judgement on people whose preferences differ—is that I mostly prefer BDSM to be relatable. Dom/mes who aren't superconfident mind-readers, subs who get itchy noses and have boundaries that aren't just there to be pushed past, people who actually have to communicate about what they want in their scenes and don't always get it right. A lot of the stories feel pretty two-dimensional, more some kind of idealised super-dom/me. I suspect a lot of people enjoy that, it's just not for me. I'd point to Kumquatqueen's BDSM stories as an example of the kind of thing I do enjoy, written by somebody who obviously has RL experience.

So these days I find myself writing more BDSM than I read here (though it's ended up in Lesbian rather than the BDSM category).

Yes, the stories I've been reading for years...just recently found out about the forum side.

As a person who came of age in the Penthouse “Forum” era (and loved it BTW. I can trace at least two kinks to that!) you’d think I’d wander over there. Sadly the couple of times I’ve tried It didn’t hold my interest.

Call it short attention span theater or just maybe in this age of instant gratification (porn at the speed of the interweb) It doesn’t seem to interest me. I much rather like the interaction with real people here.

I’m an avid reader FWIW and have a book upstairs, downstairs, and in the car for when I’m waiting on the Fam. I’ve even considered writing a story (have what I think is a decent one in mind) so I’m kind of Bi-polar about this topic!🤣

I read and write stories. I'm not going to claim to be a great author. I post stories that I think are fun and turn me on and I hope there's some people enjoy it. When I read stories here I just want a quick little dirty read. When I want something more in depth with a story and character development and sex I read my books with spice in them.

I started writing one story that I first put in bdsm. But it does have noncon/dubcon so I ended up asking to change category but they didn't changed one of the chapters.

The LW categories is a bunch of incels commenting. There's some stories I would write because I would just shut off comments but those commenters are relentless and I don't want them going to my other stories and down voting them. So it's true as someone said that the incels are prohibiting what some people would write. I wish there was a way for literotica to police more. Some comments are straight up hate speech.

I stopped when I started paying so much attention to the forums. I’m starting to get back to reading thru a friend I met here. Also have written a few stories that I’d like to give a shot submitting.

I do read other author's stories, and some are really good. I think the quality of the writing has improved since I first started reading on this site. I've also started spending more time on here, when I know I should be writing. So, I guess I should get back to working on my Halloween stories. Hope you all have a Happy Halloween!

Personally I read the stories daily but usually derail and just reread some of my favorites

Allllll the time! Sometimes porn does the job but for the most part I love erotica to get me off on my own.

I do read the stories. I have written stories that are out here. (Take a look! Links in profile.) Lit has a policy where by they read each story, and will send it back for poor grammar, within reason, spelling, and so forth, and there is a community of editors available who will help you with those things, as well as punching up, and things of this nature. That is to say, they do make a strong effort towards quality control. They do not censor materials, except in cases where it is appropriate and prudent to consider certain themes. There are stories for nearly every sexual peccadillo. Many are really great and entertaining from my perspective. There are some I don't like, but that might just be me.
By the way, Lit also has audio stories and other erotic audio. It's a pretty good site. Chat is well monitored, well organized, more consistent than many. Stories are well liked by so many and give many a chance to write and publish, as it were. The audio, VOD, and other features of Literotica make it a catch-all for all things erotic. It's always my first stop when seeking inspiration in that special way.
I don't mean to horn blow, but I started to respond to the topic and, well, anyway, I do read the stories.

I have a few favorites that I return to if I haven't read something decent in a while. But it's hard to find stories that are well-crafted and entertaining, in addition to the obvious. I have written many and published few. It's not my strong suit to write. My stuff is "too romantic" for this site, I've been told. Probably true. I don't think this is the place for my stuff.
