Does an erotic writer know shit?

i learned that being safe...being sane...being consensual is the basis for all my beliefs be it in the bdsm arena or otherwise. i sought out techniques and learned what i liked...how about you?

Totally, but that hardly relates to writing :D

I've written outside my comfort zone at least once. What I don't know, I don't have any problem asking about. And, thankfully, there are some wonderfully helpful people here (Colly and Lucky, namely).

All I can say is it's a damned shame it's outside your comfort zone ;)

With apologies to Dran :)

All I can ask is: What's yours?

I don't know. I was comfortable writing modern les tales at first. then I found I was equally comfortable with period pieces. And then with Fantasy and sci-fi. I was way out of my zone with Tee-time, but despite the racist shelling and the "i hate cheating wives" crowd hand grenades, i thought it was pretty good and may try another striaght piece.

Most recently, I finsihed a 22 lit page work that is mostly transgendered in theme. It's submitted, but hasn't been accepted yet.

So I guess my comfort zone is expanding as I push the bounds.

disagree.
it has everything to do with what i write. how can what you know or believe not color what you write?

Do we writers know enough about fetish as writers or do we stay, as authors, in a realm of our somewhat vanilla or cultural experience, and never venture forth beyond traditional BDSM and fetish?

It's a terrific question, Charley.

I am more comfortable in writing about what I know. If the story contains something I haven't yet tried, at least I've read other stories on the topic, fantasized about it, daydreamed over it, planned to include it in the near future??, etc.

Hey Charley - ya wanna cyber?

:cathappy:

Which shit?

Are you referring to the fetish for eating faecal products?

Or the various fetishes for the loved one's faeces?

Or golden showers?

Please define your terms.

You wrote loving wives? :D Not good unless you are a loving wife into fucking around and then saying : OH MY GOD, I have a husband, and what a big dick he has" :D

I know. My apologies.

I know we shouldn't speak the name as it invokes the evil.

Spank me. I deserve it.

No, really!

I - at least - am certain I may have talked of Klismaphilia without bringing it up in a Roman fashion? :D

I feel comfortable writing things I don't necessarily have first hand experience with, so long as my knowledge base supports what I'm trying to write.

I don't feel the need to investigate fetishes in person or in research that I have no need to portray in a story. Why would I seek to know more about pony play or scat if it's not something I plan to indulge in personally or weave into a story?
