Does anyone else feel like polyamorous relationships are having a moment?

I felt like I was really into fantasizing about polyamory until I read a book about an open marriage, which kind of soured it for me. However, I've been seeing tons of people talking about it online: Youtube, Reddit, stuff like that, and I'm wondering if polyamory is having a moment culturally. I've also noticed a lot of bookstores pushing books like "The Ethical Slut". Anyone else notice this?

Actually, no. Perhaps you see it because you are interested in it.
That might be a good point. While I'm not interested in doing anything like that in real life, I guess maybe the algorithms picked up on my fantasies.

Polyamory? No... Non-monogamy? Yes...

Most people want a life partner with whom they make a home, raise kids, plan a retirement, and to be at each other's side when old age brings infirmity and illness. This is a universal need. And as I see it, doing this with more than one partner - ie., Polyamory - strikes me as impossible.

But marriage obviously needs a re-think when nearly 1/2 of them end in divorce. And of the 1/2 that don't, many morph into joyless, sexless and more or less cohabitation arrangements.

I predict the salvation of the institution will be marriages where people have the Primary relationship, then, after a period of sexual exclusivity lasting many years (perhaps decades) they will begin allowing each to have occasional casual sex outside the relationship. And these hookups will be out in the open - no lies, no deceit and no jealousy.

Could this work today? Nah... But give it another 50-60 years, and I think it will.

Generation Beta (current infants and toddlers) might live to see that world
