Does your SO know you write smut?

Nope. Wife is right wing crazy. Not Donald Trump right wing. Chemtrails and 5G conspiracies right wing. Im extremely anti both parties and centrist/ pragmatist.

I work 65 hours on 3 jobs. She works 10 on 1. I could write a book but will leave it there.

Writing here is my escape from life and have come to like this site quite a bit. My first fan email on my story Shotgun truly made my day.

My wife doesn't even know that I write. Granted, I only write erotica, so it's kind of a moot point, but I'd like to imagine that I'll write something I can show her at some point.

A Big NO!! I would be cursed to live in hell.

A few years ago, my wife caught me looking at porn. It was not a pretty scene. Now I can have an erotic story on my screen and she probably thinks that it's just some news article. I can even type a few pages on a story that is 'In progress' with no worries or issues.

It's fun, writing erotica. It's my escape from real life. And then there is this community of anonymous Authors. A community with the same passion where we can freely share our thoughts without being judged or criticized.

LOL. Of course! My SO enjoyed my smut so much he said I should share it with readers instead of just him and pointed me at Literotica and got me started. I bounce my story ideas of him, and he enjoys almost everything I write.

In my case no and if she found out I'd be dead.
Yes, and she's supportive, but she can't read it. Too explicit for her. So I'm working without a net here, one of my best sources of feedback isn't available.

No. She knows I write but has zero interest in what. She often conflates it with 'typing', which I find funny. She'll ask, "Are you busy? Typing?" If someone else asks I say I write Sci-Fi, which is also true since most of my stories have a Sci-Fi underpinning. I do have one naughty friend who is also my editor, but no one else knows.

I have a friend who shows up; I say I'm writing right now. She says, "Isn't that nice you have a hobby." I say, "No, this is not a hobby. It's my work." She says, "Nice work if you can find." and is off on to whatever she thinks is more important than my 'HOBBY.' Oh, well, I can't kill her and expect to get away with it, can I?

Mine doesn’t know. No one does except for my Literotica ’friends’, all of whom I’ve never met 😉!

As for you j267, I’ve read everything you’ve published on Lit. I recall your bio page used to say you “Write stories about your wife”. Based on all the dirty (and hot) things you’ve had her experience in your work, I can see why you’d be dead if she found out…lol. Or perhaps you’d be a hero!

No you can't kill her... you might consider assassinating her character in a story, though ;)

Not only does my wife know that I write erotica and submit it to Literotica but my adult children are aware as well. My two daughters are married lesbians and haven't evidenced any interest in reading any of my submissions. Mind you an ex-lover of my oldest daughter, who had some interest in writing erotica herself, did read some of my submissions but apparently, she was turned off by descriptions of water sports. My son, who is straight, did read some of my novel "Mothers and Daughters" and acknowledged that it wasn't too bad, but he said that he felt awkward in reading it knowing that I was the author. I guess he's like a lot of persons who cannot wrap around in their mind that one's parents have and had a sex life of their own. I do get the impression that once I leave this world he might read more of my submissions. As for my wife she doesn't like reading what I've written because in her opinion the sex described in my writings seems to be hotter than the actual sex we've enjoyed throughout the years. However, she did have a favorable impression of "Vivian Travels to Estonia Ch. 7" which I daresay is one of my better efforts.

Yes, but also no.

I only published my first story recently and as I wasn't sure I would actually click 'publish' until the last minute I didn't mention it until after it was up and getting good reviews. Even that took a while because finding time/space to communicate privately with my partner is quite difficult in our living situation.

The situation is still all a bit recent, and at the time I said I wasn't sure if I wanted them to read it or not, but I've since said I'd like them to read it but not force or pressure them to do so.
They consume considerably more erotica than even I do, so that's a distinct possibility.

Except I've also caught the bug and started writing a second story - but I haven't told them about that yet. Again it's not secret; I don't want to keep any of this from my partner, it's just difficult to get them alone for private conversations.

Also, I might *not* want them reading this one, as it's a bit more.. confronting.

Not that anyone was probably waiting for an update, but I had a chance to tell my partner I was writing a second story during the weekend. Or as I put it, "I might have started a new hobby of writing erotica".

It wasn't really the time or place for a deeper discussion of any sort, but they indicated they were supportive of me having another new interest (I have a tendency to pick up new hobbies every few years, as I'm someone who likes the mental stimulation of learning new skills).

So I guess I'm once again out in the open, although so far they are taking a thoughtful approach as to how involved they wish be.

This is a very timely thread. I haven't told her yet but will soon. I enjoy writing the stories but not at the price of a "secret life". This is my second marriage (divorced) and her third (divorced and widowed). We have finally found true love and, frankly, telling her and making sure she is OK with it is more important than hiding. Egad, sounds like the makings of a Romance story. :)

I'll keep you posted.

Once I discovered a love of tentacles, my SO encouraged exploring this interest via writing. (It's not like I have a ton of other options.)
