Donald Sterling Is A Democrat

I'm old enough to have lived through a time when the secret recording of Donald Sterling's private conversation was a more heinous offense that whatever he may have said.

There is no "may have said" as Sterling confirmed the dialogue. If you're going to pretend that he's not a racist, then I can only assume that "a time more heinous" is fiction as well.

Let me say it again, and pay attention this time. There was a time when invasion of privacy was perceived as an EXTREMELY serious offense.
I haven't been following this. Aside from saying he didn't want his girlfriend hanging out with black people, what did he say that was so bad?

Your turn to pay attention:

There is no "aside". His racism was the primary motivation behind his remarks.

Further, this is STILL a time in which racism is unacceptable.

Finally, if you haven't been following this, you should and if only to give your commentary the credibility it sorely lacks.

No. From what I can see, this whole situation is wrong. He was recorded without his consent. His freedom of speech was violated. Even offensive speech is protected. What he said was despicable. What was done to him was despicable. Why should this man be treated any differently from every other person who said offensive things? I can't believe I agree with Bill Maher that it is not illegal to be an asshole. This is a scary situation.

Whatever he said, in private, is not a reason to take his business away from him.

Frankly, that scares me. The Liberalism of America, is now complete.

His freedom of speech was not violated.

That's like saying criminal defendants have their free speech violated when jailhouse snitches snitch on them.

His girlfriend violated his trust. No doubt. And may have committed a crime.

Being free to say whatever what you want to say does not mean being free from public censure. Nor does it mean being free from others deciding to disassociate from you.

Word on the street is that V. is under investigation. It seems California is one of those states where everyone on the recording has to consent to being recorded.

She Tripp'd all over herself.

You are correct, it isn't.

But Liberalism in America isn't taking it away from him. The NBA is, a for-profit enterprise willing entered into by Sterling upon his purchase of the team.

In short, racism isn't good for business......welcome to capitalism.

See my response above.

He is free to avail himself of whatever legal means necessary to keep his team. It's a corporate matter and not a national one.

That said, you're (people in general) free to be a racist. When you open your mouth and impose your hatred onto others, that's when you open yourself to public ridicule. Change or live with it till your dying days, those are your choices.

Also the fact that the punishment is completely arbitrary. Who decided what the punishment should be. it was driven entirely by public opinion. I'm not defending the man. But, what is the punishment for being an asshole? Sometimes, I get the feeling that his detractors would not be happy until he is executed.

Not quite sure what I think of those laws.

Pisses me off when cops use it because someone has recorded a public questioning or arrest.

The NBA, its Commissioner and Board of Governors decided on the punishment. It would be fair to say that as a for-profit entity, the NBA is covering its own ass as it doesn't want a financial backlash from the consumers of its product.

And that, too, is how capitalism works.

He is a dumb ass.
She is a Cunt.
The media is disgusting.
The people with righteous indignation that give a fuck because the media told them to are retarded.

They had to do it, I expected nothing less. A new commissioner trying to prove himself, but the potential of a players boycott shook them up. No games equal more lawsuits from ABC and TNT, and league damage, etc.
