Former Microsoft MSFT +0.11% CEO Steve Ballmer has offered $1.8 billion for the Los Angeles Clippers, according to a person familiar with Ballmer’s interest in the NBA team. Ballmer, who retired as Microsoft’s CEO four months ago has a net worth of $20 billion. Another source, with intimate knowledge of the bids that Rochelle Sterling has thus far received for the basketball team, said offers have come in between $1 billion and $2 billion and that the Ballmer package is strong.

So this wound up being another $1 billion per day thread.

if Obama HADNT spent a billion on the India trip and COLOREDCUNT another billion on all her trips

they coulda bought the CLIPPERS and the PWRLD woulda been happy

NIGGERS OWN DA CLIPPERS

The price would have gone up regardless and the starting price has to be lower than it would have been if he was riding triumphantly off into the sunset after a championship year instead of being chased off the ranch by angry workers with pitchforks.

The Power of reality.

Great observation there Sean....most ever for a sports franchise, gotta laugh at you for that....

Fire Sale in the NBA

Quick, sell the team fast, just see what you can get for it.....

Webber, who squares off in a primary on June 3 to face Martinez in the November election, is a controversial Republican. "Webber has a history of radical views, including ties to the Weather Underground and urging empathy for a child sex offender," the Washington Free Beacon previously reported.

For all you that were cheering this thing, you know, I actually believe they got an extra $1billion based on this recent event. Had Sterling try to sell his team 6 months ago, I'm guessing a billion, perhaps $900 million. For some reason, this got all those billionaires on the West Coast crazy....$2billion for the Clippers?? that's insane....shitty investment, not that it matters....

And it's still less than he would have gotten six months from now without the scandal. Gotta love that deep seated stupid though.

what? its twice what he would have gotten 6 months ago....not less.

that was my point. The Bucks went for $500 million. The second tier team in LA isnt worth 4 times as much as the Bucks.

Valuation is subjective. To the elite California liberal, the social statement is worth the premium. He would probably not buy the Bucks at 500M for the same reasons.

I agree. I was arguing Sean Reanaurd's point that the "event" created a fire sale and decreased the value of the team. Which, as we now know, didnt take place. In fact, somehow, it actually increased the value. The Bucks are just the last comp to go on, these teams don't get new owners very often. But this comp wouldnt be worth a damn either. You can't argue that he got $2 billion and my team is worth X....no way. Are the Lakers now worth $3 Billion?

I can't think of anyone I could care less about than Donald Sterling. He's nothing more than an a senile, rich bastard who can't control what comes out of his mouth.

Who gives a shit?

The board libs because to them it proves that all whites are racist unless they are willing to debase themselves to the sacrament of abortion.

Probably the people who he refused to let live in his buildings because they weren't white. Oh, and civil rights lawyers, and anyone who thinks racism is a bad. You know, not you.

A sports team in the 2nd biggest TV market with a TV contract about to come up is a bad investment?

Quite a few billionaires would disagree with you.

I just think he overpaid, thats all....Clippers are NEVER going to be the Lakers....always the second team in LA and I don't think that new TV contract is going to put a dent in it..... That said, weren't they just crying that 22 of the leagues 30 teams were losing money?

Time will tell if he overpaid.

I think they can surpass the Lakers in popularity. Granted it's a long shot, but it's possible. When you look at what new management has done to the Lakers since Dr. Buss passed, it looks more likely.

Very true, nobody is really talking about that. Its always WHEN the Lakers get good again, not if....But if they don't get Lebron, then they're average at best, with OKC,Clippers, Spurs and Golden State on the coast....tough out west.
