Dorian check-in thread

Considering the Bahamas has almost 400,000 people living there, (permanently), A death toll of 40 is a success of the early warning system.

The death toll will be higher because there are many missing, but you're right - technology (early warning systems) prevented an even huger tragedy.
--Unlike tsunamis prone areas, where people can only be warned only hours? before the disaster.

The more contentious question would be: How many stayed behind because of wishful thinking, and how many due to authorities' incompetence (people who couldn't afford flights, or high end 10 stories hotels refusing to shelter people)

On the face of it, their PM did everything he could: https://thenassauguardian.com/2019/...y-evacuation-plea-for-abacos-and-parts-of-gb/

TRIVIA -- since september 9/11 are around the corner:

Tragedies in which governments were at fault through incompetence/failure to warn the population were the Chernobyl/Windscale/Fukushima nuclear disasters and -anecdotally- 9/11.

George Beebee (senior Bush-era CIA analyst) just revealed in his book that two days before 9/11, Interpol and Putin called Bush directly on the phone to alert him about the danger.
This, on top of warnings from the FBI.

ETA
It's the current Bomb, because the recent revelation complements Condoleezza Rice's revelations.

In her book 'No Higher Honor', she said that she dismissed Putin's warning about Saudi-funded extremists in Pakistan that might cause a “major catastrophe.”
"I chalked it up to Russian bitterness toward Pakistan for supporting the Afghan mujahideen fighters"

How was 9/11 a nuclear disaster?

Even "anecdotally"?

Do you really think every amateur dick in the wind in the USA wouldn't have detected ionizing radiation?

I was trying to be tentative, because:
1. these came up on several contentious sources when I googled 9/11: RT and pressTV, and American fringe ones.
2. I'm not American, so I don't quite know as much as others on the board.

But George Beebee's recent inuendoes about Bush's inaction, despite being called directly on the phone to be warned by Putin/Interpol, nevermind FBI
if true, are a Bomb. I was hoping you guys commenting on them.

Rice Krispies.

Worldwide radiation detectors are available on Chinazom.

If they are accurate is another.

I don't know what you're going on about. I never said such things.
You're acting like someone who's either bent on mocking me, or is a paid poster - implying silly shit to detract from the topic. AGAIN.

Hi, although everything.

We are here.

The death toll is going to go way above 40.

that body-count is going to climb and climb as they clear more broken towns and discover more people who've perished... the stink of death is in the streets; people who know other locals are saying they're missing... hundreds upon hundreds. maybe into the thousands. :(

the early warning system showing the storm track must have saved many many lives, and florida missed the bullet which was very fortunate for them... hopefully, the preparedness of the state to weather the expected storm means they're in good shape to help refugees fleeing the devastation.
