Dragon Ball: Forgotten Generations (OOC)

Huh!

They better hope he never groks the deal, heh.

But he could always hear about the tournament in the prison and decide to leave, of course.

I plan for that to happen. It's still underground right? It's not some national thing like the World's Martial Arts Tournament?

I was half considering having Crim break him out but midway through posting that I realized he probably wouldn't. . .unless there was already a prison riot.

It's also probably add to Grisha never escaping the law lol. But if it's an underground tournament, then I plan for Grisha to overhear one of the thugs in the prison talking about it, and the thug mentioning Lena specifically, which of course will get Grisha riled up.

Or if it's a world martial arts tournament or just some open tourney, then he would see it on TV.

The above-board one got cancelled because the cops didn't want more powered fighters in the city after what happened. So the fighters are gonna throw it anyway, just underground.

So if Grisha catches someone talking about Fight Club, especially namedropping Lena, that would be a good spur to action!

It's already happened.

[Okay. I'll have a post up today that involves where the tournament will be. I'm thinking that there'll be at least one wealthier financier who can provide a place for us to fight.]

Underground fights aren't normally 'owned.' Someone finds a hole in the wall somewhere where no cops or barely anyone knows about, and then it just turns into some base for illegal activity: drugs, prostitution, and illegal fights!

No one would own the area because then they would be incriminated. It's a place where if a cop showed up either visibly or undercover, everyone would scatter like mice and have a chance to get away (except for the slow and unfortunate ones).

Of course multiple, high-profile dudes in the underground crime world would always show up to make some easy gambling money or even conduct their business there.

When running from a bear, you don't have to outrun the bear... just the fat guy next to you.

And while I wasn't thinking of having the tournament take place in an area that could be easily surrounded, I get what you're saying. The idea that popped into my head was an area that had a decent enough fighting area, but take place in an area that would allow for the participants to get away if necessary.

A wooded area, perhaps. Lots of trees, and lots of directions to run if need be.

I'm willing to entertain other suggestions.

:)

To me, the tree thing kind of sounds like a stage from "Mortal Kombat," or at least from one of the movies.

Maybe there could be a variety of locations, abandoned warehouses, subway tunnels, dive bars, the woods, a rooftop in the inner city? Maybe that makes things too complicated-- but that would evoke one or more of those fighting games, and to me that's very in the spirit of DBZ.

Multiple locations would be fine with me as well. It'll allow for different matches to take place at the same time.

Sounds good. So a simple Central location to start, Random drawing of lots to see who is fighting who and where, then off to the locations for the fight. That way the crowds could decide who they wanted to go see.

Central location could maybe have monitors to broadcast all fights and that is where the betting takes place. Maybe a very secure warehouse or as Tears said a benefactors mansion. That way no fighting done on his grounds so he can't get busted for anything. All the rich dudes are there, while other betting for normal people is done at the fights.

Heck, people working for the betting interests could stream it using cellphone videos and people could watch on The Internet even if they can't be there in person. Dark Web, backalley-internet sort of stuff. Making bets online. Decentralizing it even further, making it harder to trace.

This is supposed to be the future, right?

Futurey anyway. Dragon Earth or whatever that planet is formally named has the worst schizotech this side of Naruto. So yeah them transmitting is easy. Gero (granted a genius) was watching Goku v Vegeta with bugs. Bugs that just to watch the battle had to be either literally covering the entire planet or were moving faster than sound. I imagine random pugs have shit on par or better than we have now.

So...

Fifth District.

Unlike the warehouse-esque fighting grounds that Vanessa and her gang were known to inhabit, the buildings here are a bit more upscale (aka operational). They'll meet and greet, then find out what their* assignments are.

Cider, just to clarify--

--are Lena and The Fat Man at the same Fifth District warehouse at which the main characters are meeting up?

Yeah. I intended for her to be found at the underground tourney this entire time.

Hooooboy.

Yeah, I'm with Tears, let's wreck some faces.

Also this means that Crim might spot a pretty blonde in a bikini that, IMHO, strikes me as markedly more attractive than Flute.
