Elven Fantasy Pt. Two.

Thay:

::Retrieving his sword from the guard, he replaced it at his side, pulling its strap tight. Listening to Giamond and the guard talk, Thay allowed his eyes to wander throughout the city walls seeing the marketplace within the city's plaza and the many different wares.

He pulled his hood toightly around him as he also noticed eyes trying to see him, what he looked like beneath. Moving closer to Rose and her goblin friend, Thay decided to stay close with them to hear Toppers stories of what is happening in Underdark::

Rose tries to control herself as the guard talks about Topper not able to go some places. She walks by them, her eyes narrowing, and into the city. She makes sure her hood covers her well and keeps close to Topper. She even notices Thay move closer to her and feels even safer with him close. She looks towards Thay and then to the Thildimar. She wonders what he is thinking.

Thildimar:

Watching the Drow go to Rose's side was like a shard of glass in his heart. The presumptuousness of the Drow was legendary, but this, this would not be acceptable. The one woman that had ever shown him respect, and now, he could not get close to her the way he desired, not if the Drow stayed.

Giamond:

Rothalis had come to him, and with a nodded bow, set Aria into his care, the young one was eager to explore the city, for it was his first time to ever be here. Giamond, on the other hand, gathered the party members together that would go to see the king. Thalious, Thildimar, Aria, and Giamond himself were then led to the king himself, for the requested audiance.

Thay:

::Staying by Rose and Topper for a little while, Thay felt eyes on him. With them no longer talking about Underdark, Thay moved to Giamond, noticing Thil move towards Rose in his stead, and nodded to Giamond.::

What are we asking of the King? Have you a plan of action or are we just getting permission to pass?

Giamond:

"I would ask him for any help he could offer, seeing as what is to come, your revolution may well have an impact on his kind as well. If he can spare us any men at all, you understand, I have all the faith in the world in my own men, but the sitiuation we are going into is far from favorable, and I fear there will be more than one casualty." Giamond stated in a quiet voice to Thay as they walked.

Rose watched as the four were led to see the king. She grabbed for Topper's hand making sure she wasn't alone. She didn't ever want to be alone here again. She looked to Topper,

"I think we should try to get something to eat. Maybe we should go find a vendor and I can get some food with what little money I have. Then we will just wait for them to get out."

Topper

The little goblin's yellow eyes glazed over at the mention of food.

"Oooh, yes! Topper finds us food! Topper smells it he does!"

Holding fast to Rose's hand, he pulled her towards the market, running as fast as his stubby legs can carry them.

Thay:

::Nods, then thinks for a moment as he walks with Giamond. What if the humans demand more of the new Underdark than the Drow could offer. Humans had a greedy side at times and they only helped themselves. It was a chance that they would have to take, and only when this was over would they have to worry over it.

Thay looked about the city as they walked, hiseye trained on the smiths and the leather makers. He hd need of a new pack with more poutches. The smells of the food venders made his stomach growl, as they had nae eaten since morn. Finally they reached their destination, and the king's castle stretched out before them.::

In the Castle...

Four beings stood over a table in the king's great hall. The table was made out of pure marble...the same as the castle itself. Crafted by elven hands, and forged by the dwarves, the table had served it's purpose many times before...as it was doing so now.

The king himself, Korg, dressed in his full battle dress, spotted pieces of platemail over tight fitting chainmail, his highest paladin to his left, a minotaur. He was also dressed in full battle dress. Platemail covering his already tough hide, as well as a thin helmet covering the soft area between his horns. To the minotaur's right a much smaller being stood. Covered in a dark, almost shadow colored robe, stood undoubtedly a necromancer. His finger traced over a map, pieces of armies, border lines, and mercenary camps moving as his finger moved. And, finally, to that man's left, stood the tallest of the humans. Dressed in green dragon scale armor, a large two handed sword at his side, he was the palest of them all. "If we move our troops here, can we spare Browning some time?" Korg had said, to his highest paladin. "I do not know my lord," Regal, the Minotaur spoke. "It will be hard to bring in the people on the outskirts of the city...but...it can be done." His voice boomed in the great hall, as his hand rested on his own custom crafted Battle Axe. "I agree." the pale man said. "They wont come in easy...but if we have to, we can force them." "Now Valdimer..." the king said, speaking directly to him, "You've been the general of my armies for longer than any other, but I will not force my people into anything. I'm not a tyrant." "Ah, my lord, but at times like this, you should be." the necromancer spoke. "And why do you say that Florin?" the king said, his hands resting on the tops of his hips.

"My lord, " Florin began, pulling his hood off, his long silver hair falling down on his shoulders, exposing his elven heritage, "If the people will not listen, force them to. It is the only way for the peasents to survive I'm afraid."

Korg thought on this for a few, long moments, before he heard the hall doors open. "My lord?" a squire spoke, his voice echoing as well. "The elves that wish to speak to you have arrived."

With a glance to his council, he rolled up the map. "We'll finish this later, but please, all of you remain. I feel they'll have questions for all of us."

Looking to the squire, he waved his hand. "Send them in."

Giamond/Thildimar:

Giamond and Thildimar were escorted into the King's great hall. Thildimar hung back, near Thay, and Aria, while Giamond came forward. "King Korg, of Browning, I and my band of warriors have come to your city, seeking shelter for the night, in the morning we will be off, to the Underdark, on a mission of utmost importance. Importance to the Elven Nations as well as your own. We seek to destroy the Spider Queen, you see, for she has gone mad. I have come to you, to offer you a hand in what is to come. Would you consider putting your lot in with us? It could very well strengthen your relations to all of Elven Society..." Giamond made his proposal and stepped back, with a bow of his head, to await the King's consideration upon the matter.

Thildimar could only stare on, if he had known Giamond would come to the King, beseeching help, he would have passionately tried to talk his brother out of such a rediculous course of action...

::As Thay looked over the situation, he noticed the necromancer's apperance was much like his own, and after weighing the situation, he too too his hood down allowing his ashen skin and silver hair to spill from within.

As Giamond spoke to the King, Thay's eyes never left the Necromancer. Why does he look so familiar to me? He thought as he listened to the King's reply to their request.::

Florin Bornsmith

Standing behind the king, his arms crossed inside his dark robes, his gaze met one of the party members. He locked eyes with the drow, though his own skin was not the color of night. His skin was that of a high elf, even though everything else about Florin spoke differently. "You seek the Underdark?" Florin spoke out, before his king could resond. He could hear the hiss from the Minotaur and the pale man as he spoke, but he did not care. He mearly stepped forward and continued. "You know, that is suicide, correct, Giamond?" he said, with the utmost hint of annoyance in his voice....

King Korg

He stood, listening intently to the elf's words. But before his own could come out, Florin, the Necromancer had spoken first. Korg himself let out a sigh as he held his hand back, holding off his High Paladin and Valdimer. "Pardon my sorcerer, " Korg said, stepping along side Florin, " though his words are meaningful. It is suicide to actively seek out the Underdark. Tell me, why should I sacrifice any of my men for your cause?"

::Why do we need the humans' help? All we need to do is get into Underdark, then aid the opposition to the spider queen. Thay thought as he awaited Giamond's answer to the King. He wanted to tell the humans of the division between Underdark and the Spider-Queen, but he knew that they would only demand payment after they helped.::

Giamond:

Standing before the king, not in the least abaited by the might of his kingly aura, Giamond spoke. "Granted, there is risk in putting your lot in with us, but the rewards of potential peace is unparalelled, imagine, a world where elves, ALL elves, Sylvan, and Drow alike, could share comerce with human kind, without fear of betrayal, from any side." Giamond was beseeching the kings fiscal mind, knowing how vulnerable humans were to such persuasion. "If you think your nation is great now..." Giamond trailed off, letting the silence, and the kings own thoughts speak for him.

Korg, and his council

"My nation could prosper with elven trade. I know this friend." Korg finished with a warm smile. Florin had stepped back, his eyes not leaving the Drow. Valdimer and Regal, the minotaur had now come forward...Valdimer's body staying just shy of the sun's light. "My king," Valdimer said, "I can function better than any Drow in the dark." He showed no emotion on his face, but his words screamed of confidence. "Your armies in the north dont need me. Grendle can handle everything just fine. I'd like to volunteer to go with this band of forest dwellers. They look like they'll need all the help they can get." A smirk had crossed his face now, as he looked to Giamond.

Regal stepped forward now, his shoulders as broad as he could bring them, his chest out. "My lord," he said, as he bowed to Giamond, "with my kings permission, I would like to acompany you as well. Not for the reasons of my esteamed colluege, but for reasons that should be. Salvation. Redemption. Your kind is so frail...but yet, your bravery is stronger than that of the toughest Red Dragon to terrorize the skies." Stepping before Korg, the minotaur bowed yet again, his hand resting on his sword. "My lord...with your permission, I would like to escort, and battle along side these elven warriors." Korg let his warm hand rest atop Regal's armored head. "If Giamond and his party accept you, my faithful friend." A true, and warm smile graced his lips as he looke from Regal to Giamond and his party.

Florin, however, stepped forward again. "The underdark is suicide. You all know this. Especially you Drow." he said, pointing a thin finger toward the darker elf. "You escaped...and yet...you wish to return? You must be as crazy as the elves that worship that fabled spider queen of yours. " A meanacing grimace crossed his lips as he kept his finger pointed at the drow. "I fear, " he said, putting in as much theatrics as he could muster, " none of you will come back."

Korg had had enough. His arm shot out, silencing Florin. After shooting him a most distasteful look, he turned back to Giamond and his party. "What say you? What say all of you? Would you like the company of a Minotaur? My best General? Even a Necromancer that thinks everything is suicide?" Korg looked to each and every one of the elves before him, waiting for them to say anything.....

::Thay held back all he could as not to cry out at the Necromancer. He wasn't going to claim that going back to Underdark wasnt suicide, but he was very confident that they would make it back. His eyes met the Necromancer's once again and for a moment he allowed his emotions get the better of him and felt his face turn into a mask of hatred, but then he thought for a moment and calmed himself.

Giamond being the leader at the moment would be the one to answer the King, and Thay calmly awaited that answer.::

Giamond:

"Your highness is very gracious to help us in this matter, yes, we will accept you all, even you, neigh sayer, perhaps our success will give your obviously bitter heart some solace." Giamond said calmly. "You, dark warrior, what is this ability to see better than we, that you speak of? I am curious." Giamond quiried as he turned to Val. "And you, good Paladin, though you be a minotaur, I for one can sence your purity, it will be a much needed addition to the times that are to come."

Turning to his own people, Giamond concidered. "I would ask that when we gather back together, we form smaller groups. Necromancer, Warrior, and Paladin, may I ask the three of you to take a few members of my party under your wings? Gnayryn, and two others will be with you, Paladin, he is our one healer. Thildimar, and two others, with you, warrior. And our youngest, Rothalis, with you, necromancer, that is, if you are indeed acompanying us?"

::Thay nodded hearing Giamond ask or their help, and though he felt the party was indeed getting too big for the more covert mission he had in mind, he couldn't help but think that the extra help may turn out to be a benefit in the end.

What did catch him off guard was the fact that Giamond requested they break up into smaller groups. And while he didn't think it was a good idea in the least, he couldn't help but wonder which group he would be asked to join::

Giamond:

Seeing the curious looks on Thildimar and Thay's faces, Giamond took them both aside. "I know the two of you may think it a bad idea to involve them, but it can only strengthen us, and as far as forming smaller groups, that is to keep confusion down to a minimum, so noone is getting conflicting orders, understand my reasoning, the two of you?" He gave them a moment to consider this and then returned to the king and his men. "If it pleases, we will be off at the morning light."

I understand your thinking Giamond, but you are right I donnae agree with it. What group do you wish me to travel with?

::As Thay spoke, he looked at Thil, knowing that though they didn't see eye to eye on most things that they were indeed on the same wavelength as far as this one. In truth he wished to remain close to Rose and the little goblin, Topper, so that he could protect the child that may be his and learn more of Underdark from Topper.::

The King and his men...

Florin, the necromancer stepped forward, but not toward Giamond. His target was Rothalis. "You...young one. Which of the elves do you travel with?", he said, waving his finger past each one. "We travel with whom you choose." Florin let a sly smile cross his face.

Valdimer stepped forward, his body still covered in the shadows of the castle, as he focused his attention on Giamond. "We'll just say it's innate, like your own ability to see in darkness. Now, if you please, I must rest. First light will be here sooner than you think. We meet here? Back at the castle before departing then?" He stood, awaiting an answer from Giamond.

Regal stepped forward, more toward the Drow, than anyone else. "I feel I should be more nearer to the one who knows the Underdark better than any of us, as I too, by the graces of his holiness Relic, been granted healing abilities." Regal made a small, circular gesture with his hands, ending in a triangular desgin along his forhead and shoulders.

Finally, Korg stepped forward, after some of the commotion had died down. "Giamond, I wish I could offer you and your party more, but...I cannot. I have given you my finest. My our gods grant that to be enough. Please...enjoy my hospitality. Enjoy what Browning has to offer you this night." As he finished, Korg and Valdimer stepped off from the rest of the group, Valdimer's head near Korgs...as whispered words were exchanged.

Florin, turning toward the Drow, rested on simple oak staff, a ram's skull resting atop it. "Now, " he said, his smile growing broader, "I feel we must all get to know each other if we are to travel. Tell me...do you drink?".........

::The Drow looked at Florin seeing the big smile on his face and couldn't help but laugh. Though the Necromancer seemed very familliar to he it wasn't a adversary familiar, more like a passing friend. Irreguardless, Thay nodded at Florin::

Aye, I do enjoy a drink from time to time...what did you have in mind?

::Thay assumed that He, Florin and Rothalis would be a group, though again he had hoped Rose and Topper would be in his group as well.::

Re: The King and his men...

Rothalis:

Rothalis looked upon Florin with a sence of curiosity, stepping forward, he looked back and spotted two of his fellow elves, motioning them forward. "These two, young, like I, but skilled with the bow and the sword, sir." Rothalis answered.

Giamond:

"Good Rothalis, Sir Florin, the two of you make yourselves aquanted. Sir Valdimer, I understand your need for rest, Thildimar will be waiting for you to awaken, to be sure. Sir Regal, your suggestion is greatly appreciated, I would ask that if you take Thay with you, that you also take the goblin, Topper, and my daughter Rose with you. I will simply reasign Gnayryn to one of the other groups. Would that be satisfactory?"

Thildimar:

Thildimar glared at Giamond's back, feeling betrayed that his 'friend' would assign them in this manner, but he said not a word, only left, anger written on his face, for the tavern.
