Endless Curiosity III

What keeps you coming back to lit? (Besides me, of course.) Connecting on the threads? Making more personal connections off the boards? Something else? What makes this place a special community for you?

Bonus: What is it that drives you away from time to time? What necessitates a Lit break?

Super Bonus: Do you lurk when you're taking a break? C'mon, fess up!

There is no doubt it's threads like this and (bonus) the cute little girlie that runs this thread that keeps me coming back. I hit peaks and valleys as far as the threads go but there are some, like this one, that are warm and inviting and always have a welcome sign out.

There is a "something" that brings all of us here but it's the connections over the years that keep me coming back. Most everyone I have met on the Playground have been great. The special part is the friendships that are created and maintained on and off the board. Just a lot of great people on here.

When there is drama or conflict ..I no longer have a reason to be here. This is where I go to get away from day-to-day issues not get in the middle of more. Sometimes lit just stands still too. Everyone gets busy for one reason or another then it gets to the point where I can only reply in the threads or refresh my screen so many times before it gets to the point where I just need a break and so I can come back in and be refreshed. Then there's hurt. Whether it's intentional or unavoidable, hurt is still felt at times and can be a factor to step away for a while.

Short breaks have no lurking but long ones I must fess up; I have logged in to sneak a look at what's going on. One time I left and almost the entire population of the playground had changed! Okay a little exaggerated but there were tons of people I knew that were no longer around. It was time for a change so I abandoned my old nic and started over. I handled the transition poorly though and later just forgot who I told and who I didn't. It wasn't intentional...I just really forgot and when I came back in at the time...it didn't matter because everyone was new and didn't know me. So sometimes, I should just take breaks and put myself in time out!

I think lurking is the first sign of returning back to the board on a full time basis. It puts the first toe in the water to see how warm or cold it is before I plunge all the way in.

Well...you....:D

And a lot of other friends. I've talked about this many times. I have friends here now that literally go back a decade. (Well...I joined, I recently discovered, April 29, 2008...so...soon). So, those people mean a lot to me. DGO for example.
Others are newer. People who I've only recently gotten to know, but really like (our hostess is in that group, I might suggest - if she doesn't take offense).

And...I like to write erotica and post it and get attention for it. :D Yeah, fine, I'm an attention whore...

Bonus: With one exception, I have never felt "driven away." My breaks were almost exclusively because I got busy, or was in a situation where logging on was just too risky (like 7 months once).

Super Bonus: Well, as I note above, usually I wasn't "driven away" so lurking didn't...matter, if I wanted to come back I could. On my last break I lurked. Not smart....my advice...don't. Good luck though...LMAO....

Friends on threads, friends off threads

No because I'm still talking elsewhere with my friends.

When Lit works well for me, I'm connecting with people whose company I enjoy, whether in threads or via private messages. Those connections may stem from a wide variety of factors: like-minded viewpoints, shared sense of humour, common curiosity about topics and others.

On the flip side, Lit doesn't work well for me when I feel like an outsider, out of touch with the popular vibe, expressing thoughts that don't appear to resonate with anyone else, and finding that my oddball sense of humour just falls flat.

Most often, it's the feeling that I'm wasting my time making thoughtful postings that are being overlooked. I've heard some people say that I ought not assume that as they read with interest but without commenting. Without any visible encouragement, though, I'm likely to drift away.

I'll sometimes pop back quickly to see if any of my favourite threads have become more lively, but I rarely spend time checking out new threads.

the people - definitely the people. I've made some really good friends here, met some in person even. And the fact that we can be ourselves here (except for the alts - who the hell knows who THEY really are...) and conversation can be free and without self-consciousness.

I've only left twice, I think, for short periods of time. Once was because there was just plain too much drama. The other was that I was getting ready to file for divorce and didn't want him to have any extra ammunition should he stumble across my account.

I lurk infrequently. Those here who want to get in touch with me know how to outside of lit.

I hopped on here to help find myself and get other advice and experiences. I am still looking! One good thing is I have found a very good friend who keeps me on my toes. We bring the cheeky side out of each other. *Blush*

I take breaks from Lit because I have other things to do and I can't find things to comment on.

I don't lurk on here.

What Keeps Me Here:
Y'all! The entertainment factor. Good raunchy low class humor. It's my favorite stop on my regular social media circuit. Fills in the gaps where I find Facebook lacking *laughs* ... Plus sex is one of my main interests? So... yanno... I like the subject matter at hand. It's not like this is a forum about crochet.

What Sends Me On Hiatus:
Oh, the usual. Hurricanes. Dental pain. Dysfunctional family of origin atomic bombs. Head colds. Incredibly defiant children. High interest credit card bills. Workplace shitstorms. *mumbles* theoccasionalemotionalbreakdownresultinginantisocialbehavior ... Basically the-opposite-of-sexy sends me into "I don't have anything decent to say" mode.

Do I lurk? Of course! Every day I stalk AF. It's part of my morning routine. :D

Kidding.

Kind of.

Yeah, I usually lurk even if I'm not feeling posty. I'll check PMs too, altho I don't always respond right away.

Unless I'm on a Total Internet Sex Blackout (kinda like a detox) ... in which case I don't lurk. Those are infrequent... but they've been known to happen. Helps me recalibrate.

-I made some good friends here and I like hanging with them. *hugs jsg*

-Drama drives me away as well as real life,

-I do not lurk usually. If I take a break, I'm not around.

*wonders*... does Top Kitten mean Only Kitten?

Or does it mean Head Wife Kitten?

Or does it mean something else?

What keeps me coming back is what enthralled me with it initially (once I realized that there was more going on here than dirty stories - it only took about 14 years... LOL), after I spent a little time wandering around in the games (also, very fun): good-hearted people (fuck the snakes and the 'un-dead'), and some of the most wonderful friendships with some of the kindest, most genuine souls you could ever hope to meet online or elsewhere.

I haven't been 'driven away' for any quantifiable amount of time - a day or two, if that. I can see how intrigues and such could cause a need for separation, but I find that the times that The Playground can cheer you up when you're in a blah mood FAR outweigh the times that people on it can truly piss you off - it depends how pissoffable you are - assholes can never insult me, but at the same time, I feel severe rudeness cannot go unmet. But as yet, I have not needed a huge break.

Only in my next door neighbor's bushes...
(perhaps I've said too much):D

Top Kitten = ONLY KITTEN

Or I better be made to feel that way, at the very least. :p

Hmmm. Head Wife Kitten might be considered. Under very rare and unique circumstances.

I'm going to post now, and kill the thread early, so y'all can continue the shenanigans later today.

Hoping others can join into this conversation. I really wish I knew what keeps me coming back to Lit. I guess it is the hope that connections other people make is possible for me. It seems that other people are able to find some form of happiness, and it is just enough to keep me wanting it for myself.

Bonus: What is it that drives you away from time to time? What necessitates a Lit break?

Oddly enough, it is the the mirror opposite answer from the first question. That very happiness I seek, makes me feel guilty. And that guilt drives me away. And more so, drives people away. Making the very connections I want, vanish.

No...

Too late. I already killed it. :p

Hold my beer... I got this...

Which I find is the issue with the playground its very welcoming and inviting for certain personality types. Other's, not so much. but I suppose that is another topic for another thread.

It's Friday!!!! Time to stretch your legs, folks, and perhaps take a walk outside of your comfort zone.

Today I offer you two challenges (both submitted by other fabulous Litsters) ...

1. Message someone you've wanted to get to know better. Tell them why you want to get to know them. Tell US if they responded or not (level of detail up to the individual) ... but c'mon ... give us the deets! ;)

2. Share a 50 word fantasy. No more, no less.

Bonus points will be awarded to those who complete both challenges.

Super bonus points if your fantasy leaves the Kink Inspector breathless. :D

Listen up, you two, this thread never dies. It just hibernates on occasion. :p

Welcome, Tenderkiss. The EC is always open, please feel free to jump in and share. :rose:

And speaking of topics, most here are submitted by others. If you have any burning questions or hot topics in mind, shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to post them.

I wondered about this... if top kitten meant only kitten which was my assumption. Does it go both ways? Is he your only as well?

She decides to buy her own birthday gift from me.
She teases me all week.
Curiosity overwhelms me.
On the day, she texts, “My gift arrived.”
Camera battery's charged.”
My girlfriends are coming over.”

So what's my gift to you?” I text.

She replies with a gif.

(50 words was hard!)

*Only 50 words is hard, you get an intro*

I hear the heavy footfalls of his work boots as he makes his way upstairs to my bedroom. I know what's coming. The woosh and clank of his belt is deafening in the silence as it hits my floor. My eyes and thighs squeeze shut in response. Not again, Daddy.
