Endless Curiosity

Lit-togethers. If one was organized and easily accessible, would you attend? Why or why not? Have you attended one in the past?

I have not attended one, but I've heard a couple of stories. :p

In spite of which, I still consider going. Where and who dependent, with enough lead time. My schedule is pretty busy. It would be tough to do anything on short notice.

I would. I'd like to meet some of the people here. Haven't attended one in the past, I think someone used to do them a long time ago in my city, but I was too shy at the time.

Absolutely. Anywhere in the US. I'd even help organize one in the northeast if there was interest. I've never been to one and the litsters I've met have all been one-on--one.

*ears perk*

Are we talking...Maine? :cattail:

I just discovered one of my stop-it-all-dead-in-its-tracks things: those faux Catholic school girl outfits on pneumatically-enhanced models. I'm pretty sure I could get behind a friend or partner (close behind, in fact) who's dressed young for the effect, but not if the outfit is too heavily stereotyped (plaid skirt, for example).

Welp. Clearly my short plaid skirt and knee-high socks will be of no use to me. :D

*had to google pneumatically*

That's my excuse, too. I am shy. Shy, shy, shy, shy!

Not really. :p

No idea if they've been organized in Texas before.

I could suggest a few very interesting and quiet places in Maine for a gathering, though the nearest shoe store might be three counties away. :p

I'm pretty sure I could make an exception to the plaid skirt rule so long as the rest of the outfit passed muster.

I seem to recall that there was a pretty active group in the Houston area about ten years ago. Have lost track of my contacts there, though.

Just how area encompassing are the counties? :D

Oh, no. I couldn't possibly expect you to put yourself out. :p

Hmmm. I can't even think of any active Houston posters except RA, and I feel confident she doesn't do Lit-togethers.

The largest county comprises 68,000 square miles (with a population of 69,000 people - bears and moose are not counted).

So you think the rest of your young girl outfit wouldn't pass muster? I could do a private quality-control check based on photographic evidence.

I have a feeling that the folks I'm recalling gave up on Lit several years ago.

I never leave evidence. Just saying'. :D

I'm wondering if anyone on lit has had someone try to friend them on facebook or another social media site, uninvited and how did you handle it. If not, how would you handle it? Is it enough for you to leave lit? Take an extended break?

I am not going to be very helpful on this one. But that won't keep me from answering. :p

Lit is the only type of social media I participate in, so no, I have not.

The happening would be disconcerting. I would be pretty disturbed to find out there was a Litster I knew real-time. On Lit, I'm quite free (perhaps too much so) about my sexual interests and preferences. Off Lit, very reserved. Depending on who and how the approach was made would make a difference as to how I'd handle my Lit time.

definitely...I've known other UK Litsters travel for the organised ones over in the US years ago and we had a Litster from the US travel over for one of ours...i think they'd be a ton of fun and a great excuse for a holiday...

I've met a few Litsters, here and there, but I'm not sure if I'd do a LitTogether unless I was allowed to dress up as Harley Quinn and swing a baseball bat around.

I'm not really the social butterfly type, though, in all honesty. I would come to eat, have a drink, then leave. My sister absolutely can't stand the fact that I'm not the socially graceful Southern Belle she thinks I ought to be.

*Eyeroll*

and, no..
To my knowledge no one I didn't want to has tried to "find me".

That'd be an interesting scenario, though. I've never been on the evening news before.

U dont have to be a social butterfly. Interesting is always good. I've been on dates where I am expected to perform, right away, but got interested in them instead. Kinda slows things down, lol.

Friend not Find!

OMG. And now I cannot stop laughing!

I am now picturing a bat-swinging, Harley-Quinned Ra on the evening news. :D

That is going to be on a replay loop in my head, all day! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!

This.

I've never had MySpace or Facebook or Twitter. I did recently get Instagram to see what the kids are posting. But I never post there myself. My life is far too dull to bore others with photos of what I'm eating anyway :)

The other thing is that I waste enough time online here as it is, Lit is enough social media for me.

Lit-togethers: I'd do it if I could get away with it. I've enjoyed the individuals I've met through Lit without exception. The idea of a party with this crew fascinates me.

First of all, it's one reason why I try to be so private in the first place. I do my darndest to separate FB and Lit and only those I trust know my full real name and get on FB. (Wait a sec...)

If a person on here I didn't trust tried to request me on FB, I think I would definitely not accept to start with and deal with the repercussions. I don't think it's drastic enough to want to leave, but maybe a hiatus would be in order.

I don't think anyone's tried to track me down, but I don't have FB. And I highly doubt anyone wants to see my design/art/code feed on Twitter and Instagram.
I've never tried to find out more on someone with the tid bits of information they have shared. Not my style. When trust is built, naturally more RL stuff is shared. Seems like a two way street.

A little birdie tells me that I need to catch up on the questions. :D

Choices and preferences are revealing, whether we want them to be or not. Quick, if offbeat, question today. What is your favorite planet, country, town? Why?
Planet: Jupiter. I'm in a jovial mood. :)

Country: Denmark. I like all of the Scandinavian countries, but Denmark gets the nod as I've always found the people delighfully easy to get along with: outrageously blunt, so if they don't say that they hate you then you know that they like you. Oh, and I like Lego.

Town: I'm going to opt for a city and say Cardiff (in Wales). It's been a place where I've had several life-altering experiences (mostly good, one bad). I always feel at home there.

I'm unlikely to have the time or finances to travel across the Pond for one, but Mrs MF and I would most definitely be up for one in the UK. We've already met several UK-based Litsters (mostly in London, but one much further afield) and they've all been lovely and genuine people. As already noted above, the people who have something to hide are the ones who remain behind the safe anonymity of their computer screen.

I'm wondering if anyone on lit has had someone try to friend them on facebook or another social media site, uninvited and how did you handle it. If not, how would you handle it? Is it enough for you to leave lit? Take an extended break?
It hasn't happened to me. I think it's far more likely that I discover that one on my existing social media friends is on Lit, or active in the kink community. I'd have to tackle that on a case-by-case basis, depending on how it arose and who it was.
.

So the more I've thought about the situation posed in this question the creepier it seems. Lots of people keep the Lit time private, for a variety of reasons: jobs, spouse, friends and relatives. What's been described seems a huge invasion of privacy.

My personal position is not that vulnerable. I like my privacy, but it wouldn't destroy me for my Lit time to be exposed. I also live in a secure building, with dogs, and a sizable and armed SO. But if I were concerned about safety or being outed, for whatever reason, I'd probably take an extended Lit break.

I also now want - rather desperately - a t-shirt that says Daddy's Monster. :p

I had Facebook recommend a fellow litster to be my friend. I have absolutely no idea how their algorithm matched us, as we have nothing in common. It scared the shit out of me and caused me to buckle down.
