For Thanksgiving, I will make....reservations

Usually I do a crudite platter that looks like a turkey, or you can do the same thing with cheese and crackers. I'll make cocktail meatballs, and this year I think I'll add something I had last night that was insanely easy and delish. Make packaged herb stuffing, let it cool. Roll it up into balls and wrap it in bacon. Bake until the bacon is crisp. Yum.

Goodness, that sounds amazing! I'm definitely trying it.

We are hosting this year. My family.
I'm kind of in trouble for that.
We have a very traditional dinner that we do.
Since everyone comes from out of town, we do all the cooking but enlist help.
We will do a turkey. Stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce (usually homemade), spinach, and sweet potato casserole.

Most likely I will help with the turkey, I will do the mashed potatoes and gravy. The kids will probably help with the rolls. Wife will do cranberry sauce (and supervise everything).

For those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving Day, what dish will you be bringing to the table? If you prepare the bulk of the meal, what is your signature dish?

For those who do not participate in Turkey Day, whether for geographic or personal reasons, what is the dish you take to a pot luck dinner?

I'm flying to Orlando to spend it with my father, sister, her husband and their two kids under 3.

I'm likely going to be doing all the shopping, cooking, and if I'm lucky, make the brother in law do the dishes. My sister burns water.

Our family tradition has always been king crab legs instead of turkey. My dad isn't fond of turkey and my mom (passed away in 2005) always worked the day after Thanksgiving so we didn't want to make her cook all day.

So, king crab, twice-baked potatoes, sage and sausage dressing (my signature dish), deviled eggs, fruit salad, roasted bacon and onion Brussels sprouts, and pumpkin pie. My sister mentioned getting a small turkey breast mainly for leftovers. I'm going to let her handle that (Honeybaked, anyone?)

Ooooo, I missed a good day of posts today. I tried out a new recipe last month that was a.maze.balls. Pumpkin Caramel Poke Cake (or Pumpkin Better Than Sex cake on Pinterest). Super easy and delicious.

Vicious, there's a really good chocolate pecan pie recipe on the German's Chocolate package, also.

I think a Litsgiving dinner sounds like a great idea, folks!

Thanks! Chocolate pecan pie is one of my favorites, but I've never made one. This may be the year!

I've been trawling holiday food sites.

I'm particularly drawn to the Chocolate Peppermint Holiday Cake (#8) and the Gingerbread Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Sugared Cranberries (#17).

I think I might take the opportunity to watch Band of Brothers from beginning to end, that would be quite a journey to take through the day.

I'd like some good bread with olive oil to dip it in for my snack, and to drink I'll have to go with Earl Grey tea. Even though I'll be really wanting a glass of wine by the end.
