The Iranian missile defense system successfully shot down one of the United States Air Force fighter jets made famous by the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun. The plane was on a mission over the skies of Iraq, a bit strange since it is considered an exclusive air-to-air combat jet and President Trump has insisted he has destroyed every single working military aircraft in the Iranian air force.

The plane sustained a direct hit and broke apart in midair. Both pilots ejected safely from the downed aircraft. One pilot was immediately located by a United States Special Forces rapid reaction rescue helicopter and rescued. His condition is not known.

As of this writing the fate of the other pilot (authorities not sure if he is the pilot ("Maverick") or the weapons officer ("Goose"). The Iranian state TV gleefully showed footage of the broken tail section of the American jet and also an empty ejection seat. It is unknown who the ejection seat carried.

US forces are conducting sweeps to attempt to locate the other pilot, who carries a sidearm weapon for defense.

The Iranian government asked civilians in the area of the crash to scour the countryside to locate the pilot. It i not known if they are offering a reward for the capture of the pilot.

The Israeli government had previously announced that they would be attacking civilian targets in the crash area tonight, they have agreed to postpone their civilian slaughter despite hundreds of Iranian civilians out in the open as easy targets. It is not known if the United States has agreed to compensate the Zionist military financially for their delay.

I suspect Benjamin Netanyahu has offered to implement the Hannibal protocol for the downed American pilot (preemptively killing him to prevent him from being captured). President Trump would appear to be amenable to the suggestion, as he has always referred to pilots shot down (see: John McCain) as "losers".

Details here.

ANOTHER plane went down today, an A-10 Warthog, the air-to-ground mainstay of the USAF was hit by "something" and went down in the Straits of Hormuz. Pilot ejected and was recovered safely.

It's almost as if Iran really doesn't want to kill any soldiers, they just want to waste American military assets.
One F15 Strike Eagle, 97 million replacement cost
One A10 Warthog, 18 million replacement cost.
Nice shiny planes, but when ya lose a few it starts to add up.

well 2/3 of our navy is trapped and good luck trying to get through the strait of hormuz...America is kind of screwed

Well, if there's one good thing Trump has done, it's showing the rest of the world that the United States is a paper tiger.

Daily Mail reporting the Blackhawk rescue one of the pilots was riddled with bullets as it lifted off the ground. US military confirmed but insisted there were no casualties. Damn tough helicopter!
