Isep came across the burned shell of the house after the long, silent hike there."it's, uh, different since the last time I was here," she said awkwardly.

"Yeah. Flish killed Father and burnt the house down. Ashglow thought it would be enough to get my blood boiling." She sighed heavily, looking at the house she grew up in. "I haven't been home since. . . gods, since Issak and Jep left for your camp. . . "

"If you want, we can keep going," she said, taking a drink of water. "It's almost midday," she said, leaving a lot unsaid.

Al'ika gave a lingering look at her burned childhood home and nodded. "Let's keep going," she said softly. Summoning her walking stick, she began to make her way out to the glen.

The break in the trees came suddenly and Isep stopped and crouched as shr heard the shrill, reedy voices of goblins ahead. They had a sizable camp up and were going about their regular tasks, including making a very large tunnel. In a tent on the far side of the glen, someone was tinkering on something metal.

Al'ika crouched down beside Isep, hiding. "What do you want to do?" she asked softly. "There's quite a few of them."

"I count twelve, plus the ones we can't see," she said. "Let's just wait a while and see what happens."

As the time passed, there seemed to be only goblins, but the count went up to eighteen. "Let's weed them out. any suggestions?" asked Isep.

Isep took the hint and winged a fireball at the nearest tent. The camp came alive like a bee's nest with goblins arming themselves and burning to death. The number dropped to sixteen as two were trapped in the collapsing tent.

Al'ika threw a fireball at the other tent, dropping the count down to fourteen. "Alright, let's do this," she said, drawing her sword.

Isep waded into the mess, going to to toe with one goblin also wielding a spear. He had a shield, though, and was using it to his advantage. The other goblins looked confused to only see two humans coming out to fight them and began looking around for more.

Al'ika chuckled as she began fighting one with his own little sword but no shield. He was skilled with his sword, though.

Isep had killed her goblin but took a strike from one with a club. The other goblins were beginning to catch on that this was the only resistance and began descending on the two women, snickering diabolically.

Al'ika finished her goblin and began fighting a couple more at a time, growling. She began working with her magic as well, mainly using fire spells.

The goblins were dropping, but slower than Isep would have liked. The goblins took their wounds but still attacked with fervor since they still had the advantage in manpower. "I'm starting to think this was a mistake!" she yelled over to Al'ika.

"Didn't you singlehandedly beat forty goblins about two years back?" Al'ika asked, fighting even more, her fire becoming more and more intense.

"Well, yes, but they thought I was a ghost at the time," she said getting slashed and dropping another.

Isep worked her way over to guard Al'ika's back until they could retreat into the tree line. "Where to?" she asked, poking out an eyeball.

"It's the best we've got, let's do it," she said, catching the tree line scrub on fire to cover them. She took off, making sure no one was following them.
