Al'ika nodded. She sent up a spell that caused a huge commotion from somewhere inside the house. "Let's go up," she said.

Isep unlocked the door and crouched behind the biggest piece of furniture she could find, ready to strike. One goblin poked his head around the corner and she stabbed his throat, causing him to gurgle blood as he died. The remaining goblins rushed the house.

Only one goblin remained, a small, runty one that looked like he couldn't hurt a fly. He tossed down his weapon and grovelled on the floor. "Please don't kill me, human," he whined pitifully.

"Can you tell us who this Vagnor is?" Al'ika asked. "And why you and your comrades are afraid to report back to Silverlord?"

Vagnor is a wizard Silverlord hired, and Silverlord has been in in a furious mood since the village fiasco," he said quietly, eyes never leaving her blade.

"I think that covers it," she said. "What do we do with him? Killing him would kind of be like kicking a puppy. A n ugly, mangy puppy"

Al'ika thought. "I'm going to release you, goblin," she said. "But you and your brethren must never return to this place. If you do. . . Well, you won't like what happens. Do you understand?"

"You're too kind, and I'll relay the message," he said, grabbing his short sword and running off. Isep laughed in spite of herself. "Well, that was our good deed for the day," she said. "What do you make of our information?"

"Well it's dark and goblins are out in force. What do we do for the night? Try and make it back or stay put?"

"We can make it back. I know the way back. Goblins won't come this way for a while." She grabbed her stuff and headed out.

Isep slung her pack on and followed, tripping over the occasional root Al'ika forgot to point out. She wasn't much of a woodswoman, preferring the mountains.

They soon arrived back in Al'ika's village. "I'd say we pay a visit to Edioz and have him repair our armor," she said.

Al'ika grinned and set off for Edioz's. "Hey Edioz! You're going to love me; I have armor that needs to be repaired!" she called into the forge.

"What did you get into this time?" he asked, looking it over. "I don't mind your company, but we have to stop meeting like this." He poured three glasses of ale.

"Isep and I went on an all girl's patrol and encountered quite a few goblins up at the glen," Al'ika said nonchalantly.

"Well, they WERE tunneling. I don't think they're going to be near there for a while," she said, sipping on her ale.
