Favorite movie with a gay/bi theme?

It's been mentioned a couple of times before, but I have to say Bound. This may be up at the list of the best films I've ever seen. As far as the work of the Wachowski Brothers goes, this is better than The Matrix (and the sequels, but that goes without saying) by a long way. The characters are well-drawn, the acting is brilliant, it portrays a sexual relationship between women without being pervy, Steve Buscemi is at his psychotic best and niehter one of them betrays the other! I have to say, I was watching the film waiting for the double-cross to take place. Not because it featured gay characters, but because it was a crime thriller and that sort of thing happens all the time. Then I got to the end, they drove off with a shitload of cash and a happy relationship, and I felt... uplifted.

I love that film.

i love jennifer tilly.

not exactly a gay themed movie but the remake of "stepford wives" does feature a gay couple. usually i don't go for remakes. i doubt there was a gay couple in the original but this version was just hysterical.

i'm waiting for the video store to get thier copy of "denial" in. looks good. typical football quarterback is secretly gay~best friend has crush on him~what to do,what to do movie.

Can someone please tell me why BOUND wasn't the first movie on there...???

Gia... dear god
Desert Harts
Hedwig... upbeat, yup. when i describe this movie i go for upbeat
But I'm a Cheerleader... hello (stylized movie, like Happiness [which is one of my fav movies], def not the typical approach to movie-making)
Tipping the Velvet
Chasing Amy : the best of that series by far
Aimee and Jaguar
Better than Chocolate - largely happy and not beaten down
Lost and Delirious ...a little dramatic, dialogue needed work, but still worth seeing
Kissing Jessica Stein - happy and not beaten down
Boys Don't Cry : bring a tissue box
High Art
If These Walls Could Talk II
Fire - watched that in world religions and sex class ...if only most classes were that...fulfilling.

Rocky Horror is the all-time best. How many movies include a dance AND screaming/yelling???

ps. are we family? :D

I love "Gia." Mostly, I love it b/c I can identify w/ the main character so much and it sure didn't hurt to have Angelina Jolie in there. Next best would be "Lost and Delirious" for the same reasons.:rose:

Does Boat Trip count as a gay themed movie? I love Roger Moore's scene in the back of the aircraft where he says he may seem like some old queen, but he goes on to talk about how many jumps he's done and finally says he's "what you Americans call a 'bad-ass muthafucka!' " That was hilarious.

but then you find out the lesbian theme was all a lie :(

mines F**king Åmål

I liked that movie, too. It was cute. I think it'd be a good movie for those coming out.:rose:

Still holding out for "Better than Chocolate", I have no idea why I liked it so much...ah hem...ah well could be the hilarrious "I'm not a fucking Drag Queen" number, or Mom finding the "box under the bed" scene, or could it be the "body art" scene? Which to choose, which to choose....

My all time favorites are...

Boys Don't Cry (Probaby one of my favorite movies period)

And The Band Played On (Was/am an AIDS activist, saw it before it was released on MTV at an advance screening, ran into my 5th grade teacher and thought, "OMG, that explains so much")

But, I'm a Cheerleader(Campy as hell, but you gotta love it)

*high five*

Definitely my tip top favorite movie of all time. Or at least in the top three, along with Yankee Doodle Dandy and Aimee and Jaguar.

I thought it was originally an HBO movie, though? I was so glad when it came out on DVD!

It was, I'm tired today I guess, Home sick with bronchitis and didn't re-read my post before I sent it:) Silly me, lol. I still have yet to buy it actually, although I do have a VHS copy that was taped off the TV somewhere. I only own Boys Don't Cry on VHS (horrors, I think it's starting to wear out too!)

I had taped it off TV, too - that's why I was glad it was out on DVD, because that tape was surely close to breaking! ;)

I have Boys Don't Cry on VHS as well, but I don't get to watch it often because it upsets my wife. (And I can see why.)

Yes, I don't watch it very often, currently I think it's at my best friend's house, but, it is very heart-breaking. It was one of those movies where after my best friend and I watched it the first time we sat there in stunned silence for several minutes. The first word out of anyone's mouth was "wow" tear's still streaming down our cheeks.

I'm lucky to be blessed with the best friend that I have. We've been friends for almost 8 years. She is also bi, so we can discuss all of those issues (no, we've never crossed that line, although I will admit that wanting to get down her pants was the reason that I got to know her originally) our lives have been amazingly parallel (youngest in large families where the older childern are all MUCH older, parents are old enough to be our grand parents, and many, many, other things) and well, I just was blessed that she came in to my life. I very firmly believe that I would not be alive and would not be where I am today if she had not been a part of my life.

Yeah, that one was great. As stupidly twisted as it was, I really did love it. That and the other ones they've done. "Die Mommy Die," "Psycho Beach Party" and "But I'm a Cheerleader" All by Mark Rucker and Charles Busch. Fabulously campy and hillariously twisted.

I haven't seen those other two, I'll have to check them out. Wonder if I can convince the b/f to watch them with me *evil giggles*

Oh do, if you like "camp" you'll love the others. I know there's actually another one out there that is similar. I don't know if it's by the same team or not, nor can I remember the title.

Maybe someone else remembers: It's about an aging film star and his/her roomy/sister? who have a young up and comming starlette move in with them. The new roomy is actually the daughter of the elder's rival. It's completely campy done with an all Drag cast. I found it hillarious.

I actually love American Beauty, where homophobia takes on the weight of a greek tragedy.

Likewise in Y Tu Mama Tambien

Fucking Amal or "show me love" is really great, I think, in the teen lesbo coming out genre.

And a canadian film no one's seen but me I think, with bisexual content "I've heard the mermaids singing"

Hmm, I'll take that as a no.

I never saw it. I did see Road Trip though; that was the first time I gave a blowjob in a movie theater. It had stadium seating and we were all the way at the top...and wouldn't you know it? There was a problem with the projector halfway through and everybody started turning around to look at the booth! Daddy tapped my head and said "um, I think you'd better sit up."

Okay, non sequitur done. :)
