Final Fantasy VII

"That's the abridged version!" Rael asks with surprise, although very impressed at her. "You managed to survive throughout that? I thought you were a secretary, not a member of Soldier!" He laughs with genuine amusement, smiling warmly at Sirius. "It's surprising that you survived a meeting with Sephiroth, from what I've heard he's a very fearsome person, although I'd like to know where he learned how to use his sword like that." Rael had managed to keep eye contact with Sirius throughout her story, only stopping to glance down at the empty bottle of lemonade. "It's so different to meet someone to actually talk to, I don't think I've had a conversation like this in many years. What are your plans after your mission is finished?" He asks, again sincerely, although raising a brow, "or is that classified information?"

Sirius laughed, reaching for and handing Rael another bottle of hard lemonade. "No, no, of course not. I hope to have enough money to move perminately out of Midgar... I don't care where to, I just want out of that hell hole."

Sirius looked over to Reno, who was still off in his own world of thought.

"It is indeed nice having someone to talk to... I, much like you, have had no one for a long time..." she looked back to Rael.

"You got a room here, right? Perhaps we should move into there...and leave Reno so he can get some sleep. I don't think he much enjoys listening to our conversation."

"I have heard that Midgar is a somewhat dreadful place, at least in the slums underneath. I'm thankful to have never been there, I don't think I'll visit anytime soon either." Rael takes the bottle slowly, unsure of whether he should actually drink another one. "I have some money laying around at my 'home' near Nibelheim, I've little need of it and it may help you out of that place a little faster. You're welcome to it if you'd like."

He blushes slightly and nods. "Y-yes, a room, it must be next door to this one, but it's only a single person." He smiles, "I don't mind staying up talking as long as you want to, as long as Reno here doesn't mind me stealing you away?

Sirius looked to Reno. "No, he doesn't mind." She looked back to Rael and smiled. She stood, straightening her clothes and grabbing a couple more malts.

"Shall we?"

He nodded; they exited the room and walked to the one rented to Rael.

"The offer...for your money...It's very nice, but I can't take it." Sirius smiled meekly. "You don't know me well enough to be giving me charity."

Rael politely opens the door for Sirius, motioning her through into the room and closing the door behind them. "Well, I may not know you well enough, Sirius, but it's quite easy to tell how unhappy you are of Midgar. You seem to me, so far, a very nice person." He shrugs slightly and takes a few of the malts, placing them on a bedside table and sitting on the bed, patting the space next to him. "Is there anything in particular you wish to talk about, or?.."

"Nothing particularly," Sirius stated plainly as she slid herself onto the bed. "I figured we'd just play it by ear." She smiled sweetly. "Unless, of course, you have a topic of interest."

Rael smiles back at Sirius, taking a bottle of the hard lemonade, opening it deftly and offering it to her. "Nothing much on my mind at tthe moment," he said as casually as he could manage, "I think playing it by ear would be the best thing to do, that is if you could first explain to me what playing it by ear means.." He grins and lifts his legs up onto the bed, using his arms as a pillow while never looking away from her delightful eyes.

Sirius smiled and accepted the open bottle of hard lemonade from Rael. "Whatever happens, happens," she explained briefly.

Sirius took a swig of her drink, then returned her gaze to the man before her. She watched him in silence for a few moments, then finally spoke the only thing she could think of to say.

"So, are you currently bound to a significant other?"

Rael smiles ruefully and shakes his head slightly. "Sadly I'm not at the moment, being a wanderer has it's disadvantages." He seems lost in thought for a few moments, taking a sip of the lemonade. "I guess you could say I haven't been close to anyone before, when your only skills are fighting you don't tend to attract the attention of many likely dates."

"May I ask if you have a special someone in your life?"

Reno

OOC: Sorry for that long stint of absence. I'll start posting again, but I don't think it will be as fast as before.

IC:

Reno shook his head. "What the--" His head was swimming with acute pain. It looked like all the exertion of the last couple days had really worn him out. He had started drinking way too fast.

He stood up and walked to the small bathroom located on the opposite side of the room. He washed his hands and face in the sink and dried his hands with a soft, clean towel. "There, that feels a little better."

When he got back outside into the main room, he stopped. He looked around. Something was missing.

"Not really right now... I have a couple potiental lovers, but nothing too serious."

She sighed, looking towards the window. She couldn't help but think of her little experience with Sephiroth, but she knew there was nothing romantic with it. Briefly she thought of even Reno; but COULD Reno handle a relationship?

She sighed, looking back to Rael. She took another drink.

Rael could hardly hide his surprise at her lack of anything serious. He wondered what Sirius was thinking of as she turned to the window, tempted to reach out to her and draw her closer. He pushed such thoughts out of his mind, offending her in some way was one thing he wouldn't want to do.

"Not having someone is hard, especially if there are things to remind you of that fact very often." He paused, gazing into her eyes wordlessly for a few moments before finding his voice again, "I must say I'm surprised that you haven't anything serious at the moment.." He smiled at her and continued to look into her eyes.

"That surprises you? And why is that?" she asked, taking another drink.

Sirius could feel her face slightly flush with the warmth that washed over her body by presence of alcohol. Things seemed a bit blurred; like this was some sort of surreal dream. It was times like this that Sirius did not bother to lie in attempts to make herself seem better; the times that she was truely herself.

Smiling warmly, Rael reaches over and tries to take the bottle from Sirius. "I think you've had enough alcohol for tonight, unless you want to wake up in a very bad shape tomorrow. " He smiles, lightly brushing his fingers across her cheek. "Surprised because a beautiful woman like you should have someone in their life. Although this beautiful woman seems to be drunk." He grins.

Sliding off the bed slowly, Rael walks around it to sit next to Sirius, looking out the window for a few moments. Slowly turning, he places a light kiss on her cheek, "You can sleep on the bed, I'll take the couch if you don't want any company."

"I'm not drunk... Not completely smashed, anyway. Just a little tipsy is all." Sirius smiled broadly. "Perhaps you just need to drink a little more and catch up."

Sirius made no attempt to steal her hard lemonade back; she knew she shouldn't have anymore lest she wanted to wake with a hang-over the next morning.

She listened as Rael tell her she was welcome to having the bed. "No, no..." she protested, "this is your room, I'm not going to steal your matress for the night. If anything, I will go back to Reno's room and sleep on the floor. Until then, why don't we both just lay here and talk?"

Rael sends a broad grin back at her, "actually, I prefer to be able to think clearly, especially while in the company of an attractive lady. And I get drunk easily, too easily, no more dinking for me."

He placed the half-full bottle of hard lemonade on a nearby table, absently noticing a few stains on the near-flawless surface. Slowly standing he turns and looks down at her, smiling fondly. "There'll be no talk of sleeping on the floor. You're my guest, and if you want we could share the bed, at least you wouldn't be on the floor. But for now, talking sounds nice. Here.." He delicately lifts her legs up onto the bed, making sure she's comfortable. Brushing his shoulder-length hair out of his eyes as he walks around the bed, Rael slides back onto it, stopping a mere few inches from Sirius, still defying the urge to move closer. "More comfortable than the floor?"

Sirius smiled softly. "Of course."

Sirius watched Rael silently for a few moments; words seemed to fail her. She desperately tried to think of some topic to discuss.

Slowly Sirius moved herself closer to Rael; already she felt comfortable with his presence, which was more than she could say for most of the people she grew up with in Midgar.

"You're a really sweet guy," she spoke in a gentle voice. Gently she touched her lips to his, but the kiss was brief. She wasn't sure that he would take it as the friendly gesture that she meant it to be; she in no way wished to offend her newest aquaintance.

Rael's eyes widen slightly as Sirius moves closer, unconsciously wrapping an arm around her loosely before he can even think about what he's doing. His own mind was racing to try and find something to say, but each time his thoughts gathered thoughts of Sirius would interrupt them.

A blush crept it's way over his cheeks from the gentle touch of her lips. He glanced into her eyes and smiled, mumbling a soft "thank you," before lightly returning the kiss. His voice trembled when he finally managed to find it. "Thank you again, Sirius... Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?" He asks breathlessly, reaching out with his hand and timidly stroking her soft cheek, still looking into her eyes.

"Only when they're trying to get into my pants," she giggled. Then she smiled softly.

"Is that what you're trying to do, Rael?"

Rael's cheeks darken a few shade of red as he struggles for words. One deep breath follows the other until he can manage to speak. "Truthfully Sirius, the thought had crossed my mind a few times. But when I said that you're beautiful, I meant it truthfully, not as a possible method of bargaining my way into sex.. Admittedly, it would strike me as very surprising if any man wouldn't." He trails off, unable to meet her gaze, "I wouldn't seek to act on any desires or urges towards you, though, if you wouldn't want me to."

Sirius couldn't help but smile. "At least you're honest," she stated calmly.

She watched Rael's eyes wander about the room.

"But on my part, to hold up the truth, I really wouldn't mind a guy like you..." she trailed off on the statement, figuring he could fill in the rest. She reached her hand over to gently carress Rael's shoulder, hoping to relax him from the tense state she seemed to get him into.

Rael's mind quickly figured out the rest of the sentence, his heart almost stopping completely in shock from the conclusion. It took significant effort to calm down, but Rael finally managed it and smiled at Sirius, although somewhat nervously. He decided he liked the feel of her body against his, it stirred feelings in him he'd held off for too long already.

"S-sirius.." He whispered softly, drawing her closer, "thank you." With that, he kissed her long and tenderly, his arms finding their way around her waist.

He hoped he hadn't come to the wrong conclusion.

Sirius allowed Rael to kiss her and pull her body close to his, wrapping her own arms about the man's shoulders. The kiss seemed to dwell on forever, which wasn't nearly long enough, before the lip contact was finally broken.

Sirius looked into Rael's eyes, smiling softly.

"So," she started, shifting her body so that she straddled Rael's lap as he laid back on the mattress. She placed her hands within the open area of his shirt, carrassing his bare chest. "How long are you going to be around Rocket Town?"

OOC: K, I know I shouldn't put an OOC in here, but I wanted to apologize for my lack of posting. Writer's block, I guess..

IC: Rael started to shiver from the gentle caress of her hands, he hardly expected such a touch to have a profound effect. His eyes met hers once more and he leaned in to lightly kiss her lips once more. "Before meeting you, a few days.. But now..." He trails off, a faint flicker of worrying crossing his face. "Now I'll decide once you answer me a question. Would you allow me to accompany you and Reno? I wouldn't mind aiding your mission, whatever happens.."

Slowly his hands worked their way down her back, stopping as they reached her soft rear, just resting there..

"With me and...Reno?"

Sirius thought in silence for a moment, then looked to the window, biting her lip.

"I...well..." silence again.

"What is it?" Rael asked.

Sirius looked down at her hands.

"I...I don't want to go anywhere...with Reno. He's bringing me with him to the rest of the Turks... After that, it's probably back to Shinra to get my ass reemed for disappointing Rufus. I...I don't want to go back to Midgar..."
