Fishing

Deep sea fish here. No trolling allowed. All is bait and catch/tag.

As far as some of you speaking of fly fishing, I used a reed rod and special reel. I fly fished trout in fresh water streams with a dry nymph or fly. Darn, fly fishing is hard as all get out.

I think you would agree it is worth the effort. Anybody can catch a fish with a stick of dynamite. It's the fact that you entice them to come and get eaten. Almost like a sirens song.

I agree; flying is all in the motion of the wrist and the bouncing of the nymph/fly off the surface. You tease the trout. See if they will bite.

Quite different than deep sea. I am usually strapped in a chair; the first mate casts the line; I then have to catch/reel the fish in. Not an easy task, I shall say. As stated, trolling is not usually used. An easy way out, IMO, in a tourney.:D

Can you tell I am getting excited for this year's tourney? LOL

I like your analogy of a siren's song. Most wonderful.

Any tournament is exciting for various reasons The contest, a chance to win or being outdoors with some buds.

A lot of people forget that fishing is supposed to be fun. I see too many fly fishers out there not having a good time.

Mimicking a fly isn't easy, fooling a trout even harder, using your wiles to make the fish want to get caught can be a wonderful experience.

I try to write what I feel when I do something and do it well. I don't have the ability to write what I really mean to say. I thank you.

I am more a 'dangler' than an angler.
I love fishing- but only as an excuse to drink in the world, to sit and think.
And in winter- to drink from a hip-flask with old friends.

Not much is finer than to sit and ponder the world. As long as your flask isn't your old friend, you won't be alone.

Fishing ranks just below golf as the S&M of all sports. To catch fish one must truly suffer.

Golf to me is "A nice hike fouled up by a ball". I would rather watch grass grow.
I like being alone and I feel at home outdoors. So I do suffer but the payoff is priceless.

Snowbear... Fugly looking one. LOL

*edit*

Fresh water fishing. Pikes are a vicious fish. I had a fresh water tank and my pike ate every freaking fish in my tank. Poor fishies. I didn't know how cruel pikes were back then. LOL
