On Friday, while touring North Carolina neighborhoods that were ravaged by Hurricane Helene, the president said he was planning an executive order that would "begin the process of fundamentally reforming and overhauling FEMA, or maybe getting rid of them." His order would create a task force that would look for reforms, according to sources.

he can't do it alone: will the representatives of the most at risk in 'red' states back him on this one? When his magats can't get insurance already and now they've got the threat of FEMA help being torpedoed too?

The issue isn't "climate change" no matter how hard you stomp your feet and repeat the mantra.

THE issue is that FEMA did nothing, or in some cases made things worse. Trump is proposing that FEMA be eliminated and the money allocated for disaster relief be sent directly to the States.

Which has NOTHING to do with "climate change." Instead it gets rid of the trough the FEMA pork feeds from.

President Musk (and DonOld, etc) also ended U.S. participation in the World Health Organization, cut off foreign aid (humanitarian and otherwise), and ended U.S. participation in the Paris Climate Accords…again.

The suffering and dying that results from all those ANTI-LIFE actions will likely (undoubtedly) result in MASSIVE death and suffering.

I started a thread devoted to that ^ issue, but it isn’t getting much traction. Not surprising in the current climate of hate and indifference.

This chicken shit lives in California, is a trumper, and also an idiot, liar plagiarist claiming to be, among many of his lies - a lawyer. But we all know that.
What I'm calling him out here for is how he comes here to whine, but never says crap to his fellow RW's happily backing trump's call for no aid to California.

Florida, Texas, Louisiana and Alabama republicans will go ape-shit if Doddering Donnie actually attempts to cut federal disaster aid (because they are regularly hit by hurricanes).

Most likely Doddering Donnie will eliminate FEMA but shift all the same programs and funding into another department. Donnie is a show pony.

Have to admire the Machiavellian tactics, though: things are bad, blame the people in charge and the institutions they are running, then say it's time to shake things up!

Then in another four years someone will point to the results of President Trump's policies and maybe say the same thing about those.

I remember reading about some states that so opposed the Obama healthcare plan that they refused to take the federal matching funds that would have helped them. If people have strong beliefs they're often willing to reject money if the price is changing the way they think.

Drill, baby drill - Fuck future generations. We need to tap into finite resources to make a few people rich now, not worry about abstract concepts such as climate stability?

The generations coming of age today will understand that MAGAs are selfish opportunists and that we’re spending their future.

I’m not sure where you’re going with what you are saying here or if I’m simply misunderstanding but there is something that I need to clear up on this. There should be no price on your healthcare to be determined by market prices always inclined towards cheap short cuts but high pricing for you in the billing. Red state voters are finding this out and therefore they are happy with whatever they make now call Obama care. Also, we need to say each and every time before we begin arguing this that never has a president based any contingencies on relief care to a state - Never.

MSNBC hosts ask: how are they (red states) going to pay for it?
After pointing out Congress would have to be involved in the dismantling if Trump is serious, Steele explained, "You know, Louisiana, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, all those states ––."

"Florida," co-host Sanders Townsend interrupted.
"All of those states." Steele agreed. "Then we get into tornado alley. Those states: Ohio, Iowa ––so y'all going to be prepared to just have the federal government just go away in terms of its response and leave it to you? I just want to know how they're going to pay for it."
"How are they going to pay for it?" his co-host repeated. "Well, you know, Michael, you know, they say this is what this is what they voted for. "

"This is what they voted for," repeated her colleague.

yeah, seen all of these... it's a horror story unfolding, just as predicted if the felon conned enough greedy, stupid people to vote him back in.

there was an interview with a Maine coast fisherman; he didn't agree with a lot of what trump said or did, but voted for him anyway because the ocean windmills would damage his fishing livelihood... he failed to see the bigger picture about climate change killing off the sea-life anyway, so....

FEMA is a failed organization.
Yeeeeaaaaaahhh.
Thanks but no thanks for adding absolutely nothing to the discussion.
Like your orange buffoon of a leader, you're quick to criticize things but offer up no solutions to fix it (if there is even a fix at all).

trump has never built anything up, just taken the US out of its obligation to treaties and such - this fits in with the repubs false promise of repeal and replace. The promise of these companies to give billions also means jack crap to me. As we are often reminded by you derps here - the power of the purse belongs to the House. Let's get these promises from this companies under the oversight of congress otherwise these new contracts are nothing but bribes to a president that can easily leave at the whim of his fat congested, McD's fish filet riddled arteries.

Which is a lie.
I've noticed a trend on your posts, Politruk. Anyone who disagree with your vary slanted view is a liar and an idiot. Let me ask this question. Can you walk on water? Some of already know you're perfect. To paraphrase the great baseball manager, Gene Mauch, "there's never been a poster on this site as great as you THINK you are"

And the rocky bases of offshore windmills provide a habitat for certain fish species, so they could act as fish sanctuaries, which could actually benefit the fishing industry in the long term.

Ultimately, the jury is still out on the negative impacts or positive benefits of offshore wind farms on the fishing industry.

The positives (potential and known) of proceeding with offshore wind farms still outweigh the negatives (potential and known) of abandoning them in favor of fossil fuel energy production, imho.

blacks have a higher propensity of violence than all races combined.

I wouldn’t even think of walking a predominately black neighborhood, wouldn’t end well.
