For Those Who Might Be Wondering Why We Might Be In Ukraine

Germany Announces New Air Defense for Kyiv

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new defense package for Ukraine ahead of Friday’s Ramstein format meeting.

Pistorius listed four IRIS-T surface-to-air defense systems with missiles and another 30 missiles for Patriot systems among the components of an upcoming package in a comment ahead of Friday’s Ukrainian Defense Coordination Group (UDCG) meeting, commonly known as the Ramstein group, at the NATO HQ in Brussels. He also added that the nations would also discuss the production of Western missiles in Ukraine under license.

The package – delivery timeline unclear – would also include 120 Man-Portable Air-Defense System (MANPADS), 300 reconnaissance drones, 25 more Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 15 Leopard tanks, 14 artillery systems, 100 ground surveillance radars and another 100,000 rounds of artillery shells.

lol, more Russian propaganda. You sure seek out news that fits your belief. BTW since your tax dollars are no longer being used to support Ukraine, why do you even care?

Is it because you're a bigoted asshole, who wishes he could suck Trumps cock, even thought you know Trump would be disgusted by the thought of a guy sucking him off?

Drones kill on both sides, Ukraine has the numerical advantage, even your own Generals agree with this.

And they're killing Russians at around 10 to 1 now and improving.

The update from Cavioli was interesting - Russian Army is getting worse, Ukrainian Army is getting better. The new Ukrainian recruiting incentives fir under-25's are resulting in a lot mpre volunteers, who can pick the units they want to join. And some of those Ukrainian Army units now are very very good. Third (Azov) Brigade for example, now expanding into a Corps. 2025 is, to quote Churchill, "The Turn of the Tide." We can only hope that Trump does not intervene any further on the side of the Russians - hopefully if he does that will be to blatant even for Congress to stomach, apart for the usual pro-Russian GOP quislings and outright FSB sleepers like Spartz.

As for the "horror of Kursk," only for the Russians, and I have no objections to thousands of young orcs dying. The only way this war will end is when enough of them are dead that the Russian Army folds ....and then we can hope the ZSU is good at turkey shooting.

As for bio/chem weapons, the Russians have consistently been using low-grade chemical weapons, not quite blatantly enough to trigger a major intervention.

It's just another missile. Don't forget, in the old USSR, it was Ukrainian scientists who built the old Soviet missiles - and the Ukrainians are far better at it than the Russian monkeys. Ukraine currently is working on its own ballistic missile and will soon be in a position to respond in kind. Ditto with the mass production of cruise missiles. They plan to build 9,000 this year (thats what they announced. When those start rolling off the production line en masse there will be some major hits on Russian infrastructure).

Just remember to take all the Russian propaganda with a teaspoon of salt. They make up so much that you really need to spend more time filtering out the garbage. Ukrainian sources are much more reliable, altho obviously they keep a lid on anything that might assist Russia.

Allies pledge €21B in weapons for Ukraine while denouncing Russian attacks

Ukraine’s supporters promise a record new round of military aid.

Peace in Ukraine is “out of reach in the immediate future,” German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius warned Friday as allies pledged a record €21 billion in new military aid to Kyiv. Pistorius said that “Russia needs to understand that Ukraine is able to go on fighting, and we will support it,” after a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group — a format that organizes military aid for Kyiv. The record pledge of military assistance includes £4.5 billion which the U.K. has committed for this year, as well as a further €11 billion from Germany.

The U.K. earlier gave details of new support worth £450 million for Ukraine, about £350 million of which will be provided by Britain, with extra funding from Norway via the U.K.-led International Fund for Ukraine. It includes £160 million to provide repairs and maintenance to vehicles and equipment the U.K. has already provided Kyiv. Funding for radar systems, anti-tank mines and hundreds of thousands of drones worth more than £250 million is also part of the package.

Norway will contribute NOK 10 billion (EUR 822 million) to equip and train a Ukrainian brigade, which is being built up together with the Nordic and Baltic countries.

Norway will help arm the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with modern weapons, armored vehicles and other technological solutions, is ready to allocate significant funds for ammunition and develop defense-industrial cooperation, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said following a meeting with Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Onshuus Sandvik. According to Umerov, one of the main issues for discussion was equipping the units. "Norway will help arm our brigades with modern weapons, armored vehicles and other technological solutions. This is critical support against the backdrop of current threats," Umerov said. "The second priority is the provision of ammunition. We discussed various mechanisms for the supply of high-quality shells for the front. Norway, as an active participant in the Czech initiative, is ready to allocate significant funds for the purchase of ammunition for the Ukrainian army," the minister noted.

Czech Republic Ships Last T-72M1 Tanks to Ukraine

The Czech Republic has transferred the last of the T-72M1 main battle tanks it had pledged to Ukraine in response to Russia’s continuing aggression. The entirety of the package included 86 systems inherited by Prague after the Cold War, with some upgraded to the T-72M4 configuration. A report from local news agency Hospodářské Noviny said the final shipment had 20 vehicles sourced from Czechia’s 73rd Tank Battalion, which now has zero tanks left in its inventory. By 2026, the Czech Republic will receive Leopard 2A4 tanks purchased from Germany to fill the gap left by the T-72 fleet. These new platforms will increase to over 40, according to a national security strategy revealed in 2024, and will complement more than 60 additional Leopards in the 2A8 variant that the government also ordered from Berlin. Czechia is now considering establishing a domestic Leopard tank factory to optimize the vehicle’s production for its military.

Ukrainians Made an FPV With Fiber-Optic Cord Stretching For 41 km

The 414th unmanned strike systems brigade, known to the public as the Ptakhy Madiara, or Magyar's Birds, has unveiled a first-person view (FPV) copter drone operated via a fiber-optic cable stretching for up to 41 kilometers. This parameter defines the maximum operational range of this small-sized explosive drone, while the wired control ensures invulnerability to electromagnetic suppression and inconspicuousness to SIGINT systems. Furthermore, the military unit has announced that they would produce 1,100 such drones in the upcoming batch. It is speculated that around a thousand would be made monthly, providing a means to deliver drone attacks onto far-reaching artillery and mid-range air defense systems, i.e. targets previously unreachable for FPV drones because of battery charge limits and electronic warfare systems covering them.

So far, 41 km is the farthest operating range declared for a wired FPV drone or any other drone connected via optical fiber worldwide. The production rate of 1,000 units a month is no less impressive in this context. It has the potential to turn fiber-optic FPVs into a truly mass-produced yet affordable weapon for strikes at tactical to operational depth. The second aspect accentuated by the drone with a 41-km coiled fiber-optic cord is the importance of having a proper component supply besides simply conceptualizing with raw ideas. Earlier, notably in September and December 2024, there have been many reports of China considering a ban on supplying its products used as drone components by Ukrainian manufacturers. However, the appearance of a new device ready for mass production is an indirect sign that so far, despite the anticipated setbacks, the dronemaking industry of Ukraine doesn't have any issues with the drone parts inventory.

Frontline report: Russia weaponizes drones against its own retreating soldiers in desperate push toward *****

Ukrainian intelligence has uncovered Russia’s modern version of barrier troops – using drones to execute their own retreating soldiers near Torske, as commanders sacrifice waves of poorly-trained conscripts in an increasingly desperate bid to capture northern Donetsk Oblast.

Today, there is interesting news from the ***** direction.

Here, Russian commanders again resorted to one of their favorite and most brutal tactics, employing drone barrier troops to continue the offensive after their soldiers’ morale had already broken. They did this to instill fear and obedience in their soldiers in preparation for a renewed push toward *****, building up for what could become one of the most brutal offensives of the war. The Russian strategic goal is to break through Ukrainian lines along the Zherebets River, take control of the area between Zherebets and the Oskil Rivers, and move to sever Ukrainian ground lines of communication. If successful, Russian forces would aim to press southward and capture *****, a gateway into the heavily fortified Ukrainian-held cities of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Siversk in northern Donetsk Oblast.

Such a maneuver would also complement another planned offensive from the south toward Kostyantynivka, as the Russians plan to capture northern Donetsk Oblast before they are forced to end the war. The Russian command seems to be laying the groundwork for a massive, multi-directional offensive that could put Ukrainian defenses under severe pressure. However, the Russians have faced a significant chokepoint at Torske. The Zherebets River here widens considerably due to nearby water reservoirs, creating natural bottlenecks that funnel Russian forces into narrow kill zones. Ukrainian defenders have turned these chokepoints into death traps using drones, tanks, and artillery, waiting for the precise moment to strike the enemy when they are most vulnerable.Meanwhile, from the south, the dense Serebryanski forest has given Ukrainian units a major advantage for months. Utilizing drones and artillery from within the forest allowed the Ukrainians to create a death zone for all Russian units advancing toward Torske, striking them before they could even establish a proper foothold, making any progress impossible.

To try and break the stalemate, the Russians have resorted to infiltration tactics along the eastern riverbank. Small infantry groups are attempting to advance toward Torske from the north and further reinforce the Russian bridgehead at Ivanivka. Yet this approach has proven extremely costly. Drones have recorded wave after wave of Russian infantry being wiped out by Ukrainian FPV strikes, and the bodies of soldiers are piling up near the crossings. Despite this, Ukraine’s 63rd Brigade recently intercepted communications between Russian units near ***** that revealed a disturbing new layer to these tactics. The recordings proved that Russian commanders are using barrier troops to keep soldiers from retreating. The intercepted message stated that if Russian assault troops, consisting mainly of newly mobilized soldiers without experience, retreat or hesitate during an assault, their comrades will target them with drones from behind. The Russians in the recording also stated that the order comes straight from the Russian high command.

This is a brutal evolution of the traditional barrier troop concept. Rather than having soldiers posted in the rear to shoot deserters, the modern Russian army has now weaponized drones against its own men.
It’s a reflection of just how desperate Russian command has become to maintain momentum, regardless of the cost in lives or morale. It also underscores the growing reliance on untrained, poorly motivated mobilized troops, who must now fear not only the enemy, but their own forces as well. The result was gruesome. Under threat of execution by their own drone operators, Russian troops have no choice but to continue the assaults. Through sheer numbers and forced compliance, some marginal ground was gained at an enormous human cost, but in the eyes of the Russian leadership, any movement forward, even over mountains of bodies, counts as progress.

Overall, this development underscores the extreme lengths Russia is prepared to go to break the deadlock around ***** and Borova. With mounting troop concentrations and fresh units pouring in despite catastrophic losses, the region has become a strategic focal point. However, with such attritional human wave assaults, the Russian command is effectively undermining its own summer offensive plans, as they are exhausting their manpower resources and risk having no critical buildup of reserves needed for a breakthrough.

Ukraine Greenlights Djura Armored Ambulance for Military Use

Highlighting Ukrainian industry expansion to meet war needs and it's ability to desogn and build leading-edge equipment for war-time use under war-time conditions, the Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has approved the Djura 4×4 light armored vehicle for the military’s medical evacuation tasks. The system is produced by domestic automobile developer Practika and was first unveiled for the market in July 2024.

Its chassis will be fitted with reinforced front and rear suspension, stronger brake grip, and additional protection on its external hull. Kyiv noted that the platform’s selection is driven by its “optimal” design that matches the armed forces’ requirements for wounded troop transport. “In a war with a Russian aggressor, when the enemy does not adhere to any conventions and uses various means of destruction against medics and their transport, the evacuation of a wounded soldier is often a difficult and dangerous task,” Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Valery Churkin commented. “And here the evacuation transport plays a crucial role. Its running characteristics, ballistic protection, and the availability of means to counter attacks by enemy [unmanned aerial vehicles]. Often, the chances of successfully completing the evacuation task in difficult situations depend on this.”

The Djura is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series vehicle and is offered in metal body, truck bed, tilt body, and trailer variants. It measures 5.4 meters (18 feet) long and weighs about 5,000 kilograms (11,023 pounds). The system has Standard 1 NATO armor, blast protection against hand grenades, and seating capacity for up to four personnel. For its ambulance function, the platform can be configured for up to six people and can be installed with an automatic stretcher loading system, specialized air conditioning, video surveillance, and other medical apparatus. Djura is powered by either a 2.8 or 5.5-liter diesel engine with up to 220 horsepower for a maximum speed of 120 kilometers (75 miles) per hour and a range of 1,300 kilometers (2,092 miles).

This is actually rather significant as if the price of Urals stays down here at or below $50 a barrel, it screws Russian's financial budgeting for the war very very badly

Compared with mid-January, when Urals cost $70 and above, the Russian grade has fallen by more than $20, or almost 33%. At the same time, the oil price in the Russian financial budget for 2025 is budgeted at $65per barrel, and at $60 pwe barrel for 2026.

No, it's not just another missile..... in one of the first uses this "just another missile" struck a facility that manufactured drones in 3 separate converted warehouses in Ukraine at hypersonic speed avoiding all, All Air defense systems the ukies posses completely destroying the facility killing a reported 30 workers as well...... oh one more thing the missile used no explosives only kinetic energy.....

h one more thing the missile used no explosives only kinetic energy.....
It does what now? I love it when people who have no clue on science post stupid shit. E = mc2 defines the maximum release of energy.

So the maximum is the mass of the missile times the speed it impacts at. Since I don't know it's mass, nor the impact speed I can't calculate the energy released, but there is a reason we switched from kinetic devices back in the 17th century to using explosives...

My understanding, which is extremely limited, is that for kinetic to be any real use it would have to come in from orbit at extremely high velocity, more or less a mini meteorite.

But in the end, it's just another missile coming in. If the Russians can build it, the Ukrainians can in spades.....

There is no doubt, Einstein already solved that for us. Even for an asteroid, the results are the same, mass times speed equal the released energy. A simple way to imagine this is: drop two water balloons from a height. One filled with one gallon of water, the other filled with two. Since both balloons will fall at the same speed, which one makes a bigger splash.
